The original is better. I like the original version a lot.

This version is OK, but not amazing. The solo is great though.

The second half of the song is better than the first.

I love the original and don't think it can be improved upon, so I'm worried.

Sorry but I don't like this version at all. The original was great but this is pure crap and should have been maybe released as a remix but not am album cut on a new album. Man 0-2 so far sad

It's a bit overdone for my likeing. I could see it working in the context of an album though. Cool guitar.

I actually think it's under done like most of Princes ballads these days. I'm not a fan of this version. It's definitely a remix.

Wow, loving this version. Very trippy. On heavy rotation already. Haven't done that with any new Prince track in a while. Puts me in the same space as Beautiful Ones. Amazing how P and Josh have turned one of AOA's weaker tracks into this sublime little audial journey.

I like the last two minutes, compared to only the last 30 seconds of the original.

For me this would had to have been spectacular to beat the Art Official Age version.

As it stands I prefer the AOA version but this is really growing on me.

It's OK, would need to hear in context of whole album - but if this is the second single I'm not too excited (I love Hardrocklover btw).

As several people have said already, the second have of the song is, in my opinion, much better than the first. It's not bad, but it uses too many sound effects that don't really add much. I liked the original because in my opinion, it sounded kind of 'subtle'. This is definitely not subtle... I thought the same about the AOA version of Funknroll: the second half was great, the first overused pointless sound effects...
I have the feeling this is going to grow massively on me, but I hope that there are a few songs in the album which are free of the electronic noises that seem to be the flavour of the day...

I've listened to the 30 second sample and I'm not feeling it. Maybe it will work in it's entirety or in the context of the album.

But for someone that writes music all the time, why didn't he just make this a new song rather than rework a song he's already written?

For being a track on a new album, its ultimately disappointing. It's a cool little remix, but new albums aren't for cool little remixes imo. I'm glad they're so excited about it. But I'd rather new music than this remix. The guitar work is cool and has a bit of a different vibe. I could do without the 'industrial' flare. It misses all the subtle touches that makes the original awesome imo.

Curious. Is the Tidal version of high sound quality? I've been listening to a rip and the vocals sound slightly distorted (as does any of the lows). Wondering if it's the song itself, or a crappy rip?

May take a few listens but at the moment underwhelmed with this, though like others enjoy the second half - if someone could fuse them somehow (and do the same with the end of aoa funknroll to the end of the plec one).

Did Hannah refer to this song as industrial? I hope not. Hit after experimental hit and things for the purple collective and army. She really is the goalkeeper fr the team int she. Bet lovesex is her jam too.

Just listened to this and I really like it. But what I don't get is why bother with it as a cover? It is so different from the original, why not make it a new song? Keep the music track and put some different lyrics to it.

RIP sad
