"Chelsea Rodgers" If Prince released only one such catchy tune and accessible and/or hip video on every album, it could silence 90% of the hatahs. "Black Sweat" was another one that saved an album from complete obscurity. HITnRUN might have been saved by a clever "Like a Mack" video with the ladies or a different cute ZooeyD video of FILT.

Fraankly, I think 3121 would be better without Black Sweat. Always cry 4 love, never cry 4 pain.

It's just a beat. Not enough musically interesting elements to make it stand out. Don't like! [Edited 10/8/15 22:37pm]

Spin after spin I found it more boring, anyway. So I not return to it more times.
To me it is a good track but not a great track. And by the way, listening to the synths on BS with headphones gives me bad headache.

To me it is a good track but not a great track. And by the way, listening to the synths on BS with headphones gives me bad headache. Black Sweat is a good example why Prince is desperately in need of a producer. The beat leaves a lot to be desired and the awful high pitched synth sound doesn't make the song more edgy but kills your ears.

Terrible song...terrible attempt at recreating a 'kiss' sound for the 00's...irritating vocals...terrible all around. Video can b amusing if muted.

I never cared for "Black Sweat" either. It always hurt my ears with that squeal noise in it. I sound like such an old fuddy duddy LOL Making love and music are the only things worth fighting for.

I really like Planet Earth but CR is the only track I skip. I replaced it with FUNK on my play list and the album is even better for it. RIP

I like Black Sweat and Chelsea Rodgers. They sound good. Both make me start movin' around to the music and swingin' my hips.

Never liked the song, the lyrics, the groove, the melody, the corny message. Just one of those songs I´ve only listened to once and then never again, at least not voluntarily. Such a derivative song. And it has all the elements of the kind of Prince songs I don´t like. Never understood why people here celebrated it so much. Black Sweat on the other hand is quite nice, although not really great either....the shrill synths, the lyrics, the beat....really nothing there to make it a great song but still much better and more enjoyable than Chelsea Rodgers. What happened to her anyway? " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

Chelsea Rodgers is catchy for a zzzzz record. Black Sweat is amazing. minimal. funk. and is easily a classic Prince record. The video is perfect too. [Edited 10/10/15 10:13am]

I never understood the love "Chelsea Rodgers" got when the album was released. I always put it down to the fact it was one of only a handful of upbeat dance songs. As far as the song itself it's just so pedestrian.

Like many Prince songs, the Hornz take it to an entirely different level, putting Prince's signature funky stank on it. luvsexy4all said:
