Just listened to this and I really like it. But what I don't get is why bother with it as a cover? It is so different from the original, why not make it a new song? Keep the music track and put some different lyrics to it.

I guess he is just playing about with tracks and being experimental

I absolutely love the original, so I'm doing my level best to forget what I just heard.

It's so bad....

I personally don't even like remixes.

Now I'm just gonna be like Captain from P&B Podcast: don't expect much, don't get let down.

Sounds like Dubstep? I was worried that might happen eventually. No thanks.

The album version - it's like he's saying it with flowers. Nice. The remix; he's pulling my hair. I like it!

Looks like I might have to sign up for Tidal...

I like the snippet. Way better than the original, which just bored me.

Does the full version have the "new pair of shoes" line? That is too corny.

Wants to be Trap/Dubstep, but not for real so to not scare any mainstream listeners away.

That exactly is the problem with nowadays Prince and especially Josh's production work: Watered down, mainstream versions of "edgy" music styles while always being afraid to go for the real thing.Playing it safe while pretending to be "progressive".

No.Risk.At.All.

Lame as fuck.

yeah, i signed up for a free 30 day trial today and i'm browsing around tidal right now.

it looks okay but i don't think i'll prolong after a month. either way, i'll be able to listen

to the album the day it's released, and that's a good thing imo. plus, it's free. and with

a bit of luck it will be up on itunes before the end of september.

you don't even need to install anything on your computer to use tidal, you can just get

access to it from your browser (chrome). so it's literally no hassle at all once you sign
up for a free membership.

I love it. The piano riff and the guitar solo. Perfect additions to the song.

Exactly. Just heard the full version, nothing special, but I do enjoy the piano add ons and the guitar solo. Overall it brings this song much more life. I actually prefer this over the original version.

Trash. What a complete mockery of the far superior original. So far, he's 0/3 on this new album for me.

I disagree. I don't love either version but I like this one better. It's less sweet edgier...

While listening to it I realized that what I don't love about it is the vocal. Imo the song would sound much better in his lower register and that is certainly the case with this remix.

Exactly. Not even the regular purple-candy-cane-suckers are here to defend this BS

Looks like Prince finally taught them not to suck on his purple candy-cane..

I heard this version at Paisley Park back in April. The way Hannah was hyping this song, I guess I don't know what I was expecting, but not this. That same night they played remixes of CLOUDS, FIXURLIFEUP, PRETZELBODYLOGIC, AND BOYTROUBLE. That crap better not be on this album. I'll take REVELATION though.

I love the original but this is one of the most creatively bankrupt things he has done. Would be passable as a remix that came out with the original but to include this as an album track does not bode well.

Exactly. It is truly astonishing that songs like Moonbeam Levels continue to degrade and rot in the vault, but he find this "music" worthy of not only release, but as a track to his new album.

Absolutely astonishing.

The "Breakfast Can Wait (Honey Mix)" was so much better than the album version. This does nothing for me; no passion, no fascinating or fun muscial bits or dramatic vocals. AND IT CUTS OFF ODDLY.

This whole Tidal venture seems like Prince throwing a crumb to a brotha, to make up for said brotha eeffingup the Rally4Peace broadcast which was pretty spotty. Said brotha needs to use this opportunity to deliver to Prince fans and those not tuned into the funk already. There's probably a very low bar set. Prince has little to lose, said brother has a lot to lose if he can't use a Prince album — even if it's just offhanded remixes — to get his Tidal service to compete with the mainstream (spotify, apple music, etc).

The PE/AOA singles didn't thrill me on first listen, but I came around. I'm over "single" already.

The "Breakfast Can Wait (Honey Mix)" was cool, so were the "Screwdriver" remixes. The "StopThisTrain" "remix" (it was really an entirely new song) was DOPE.

But you 100% correct about this one. I feel suckered signing up just to listen to it, but the subscription will be good until the full album comes out and I cancel immediately.

I hope there's at least 2-3 really good songs on the album, but Hardrocklover, The Xs Face and This could be us remix are way to weak tracks for an album. It feels like we're back to the High era

Nice mix. You guys and gals are sooooo spoiled, take life way too serious. Probably sleep at night with all the covers pulled on your side of the bed, fist all balled up, with "I wish a MF would" expression glued on your face. Horrible music critics but perfect for wine tasting, swish and spit.

Yeah, we're so spoiled. How dare we want our favorite artist to make music that is of the same quality as his abilities. Come to think of it, it's fans like you that's the reason why he's comfortable releasing such shit music, unable to give constructive criticism and praise everything he does. Like he needs more yes men around him...

I won't go blow for blow..you win. That favorite artist piece is interesting though and if you really mean it you should show your support for his work...its the reason many associated artist (like his current group) and engineers who get to live out their dreams because Prince keeps working his craft. Inspite of the naysayers.
