I think the song is so-so. Not great, not horrible. Pretty much like a lot of stuff he's been putting out since 2003 or so. Which is still tons better than 1997 to 2003!

I like the funk flavor of the song!

It lacks just a tad bit of energy IMO for some reason. Maybe if it had a little more lead guitar or got rid of that carnival-sounding merry-go-round instrument.

I feel your frustration. His recorded output has become so uninspired, cheesy and flat. You simply wouldn't want someone to overhear you listening to it.

Live he still brings it, but i think we have to accept that his days of making a good pop song are over.

It's a little more interesting than the 20 second snipet, but i still can't get passed the chorus once again lyrically awful,and so out of sink with reality seeing as everyone is skint......

it's great to always hear a new prince's track, however i found this track to be simple and lyrics about $$

the 20 second snippet didn't do me justice so after listening to the full song i kinda like it but its not something i would want to press replay on

this whole money thing is becoming a bit of a theme, no? $, Act of God, When Will We Be Paid, Lavaux, the internet is dead, and now Rich Friends.

The songs seem to either be "i'm enlightened, why aren't you?", or "gosh! having money is complicated/fun/bad/who needs it?/don't touch it!"

and this has been said before, but the gulf between his live sound - from what i heard of the 2010 tour, le new morning, and even montreaux shows - and what he puts on record is just vast. Energy vs. flat lines, fun vs. pious, and organic vs. linn drum lite. How is this the same person?
