Y'all need to calm down a little lol. ANY prince fan would know that he never expresses himself explicitely like this. He usually gives vague answers which leave room for interpretation. I feel like she took his answers and wrote what she thought he meant. Prince is usually very prudent when it comes to interviews. So I trust Prince's people on the misquotes

that's why i'm laughing at some of the posts of people getting all upset. i believe he gave the reporter some cryptic answer. maybe he did or maybe he didn't, you just never know.

Reality check: Prince u say?...perhaps afraid to lose fans??? Not the Purple Prince...not at all. He's a bold person and always been, regardless of wat ppl may think of wat he believes in etc. Just as how ppl have their opinion of wat they think about certain things, he has his own.

With respect, to each his own

PRINCE NEW YORKER ARTICLE FULL OF MISQUOTES!!!!

Posted in Celebrity News on November 17th, 2008 by drfunkenberry

We were just sent this:

Prince did an interview with the New Yorker recently and it is CHOCK full of misquotes!!

The reporter was not allowed to use a tape recorder, and so paraphrased nearly everything.

We are told the parts qbout religion are especially misquoted.

Prince never said “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever and he just cleared it it out. He was like “enough”. Those are the WRITERS words, not Prince’s.

Next time, there will be a tape recorder. (Eye roll)

We want to thank Prince’s people for clearing that up.-Dr.FB

Well, duh.rolleyes As anal as Prince can be--why WOULDN'T you use a tape recorder. This kind of misquoting was inevitable.

It's amazing the amount of people who think they are in a position to judge Prince as human being. To use the word hypocrite is crass. If Prince is living a Christian lifestyle now, his past doesn't make him a hypocrite. I used to get drunk at least once a week, now that I have gained Bible knowledge I no longer abuse alcohol. Does that make me a hypocrite? Of course not! People can and do change. confused

Prince and Manuela sat with Ellen and Portia at an event at one time and he was a JW at that time. So just cause one doesn't agree with the lifestyle doesn't make that person a homophobe.

Plus, comparing homosexuality to cheating to some folks is the samething. It may not be to you but a sin is a sin... Bring up Clinton's name annd a lot of women say "he is a moral pig" ... ok well some folsk will say the same thing aobut Ellen...not me but I am just putting out there....

I remember at my college (years back) there was this girl protesting for "Pro choice" but see also had a "save the whales" button on.... is that the same as your "plus, comparing homosexuality to cheating is just..." comment?

Look I love everyone...I don't have anything bad to say about anyone...I love and respect everyone as long as they are doing the same...

Peace & Love

i am absolutely baffled. speechless. i guess this is why i never go to
the prince p and r forum.

how is it possible that in this day and age with all the available
science and literature people are still this ignorant?

that's not a direct flame or stab at you, prime, it's a generalisation,
kinda like gay people being sinners. not just one particular one, but
the lot of them.

it also makes Prince a user,

i've heard a lot of things about Prince and his true persona and its anything but Christian.. if it wasn't for Prince's talent could his character survive a true friendship with out a paycheck attached to it..

and could some one tell me why this guy has not procreated and repopulated this earth??? doesn't Jehovah say "be fruitful and multiply", I find that very odd - even Michael Jackson had some kids - ,.. Prince has been been married twice/dovorced twice and at the age of 50 has not even popped out one.. no kids smells fishy to me...

when u start to pry into others lives its time for someone to shine the light on yours.. discretion is a gift.

ever wonder why ingrid Chavez' Paisley park CD never took off..

Ingrid Chvez
• Ingrid Chavez has written poetry since her adolescence. Raised in an Américano-Mexican household, she moved to Minneapolis in 1986 at the age of 21. At the end of 87, she met Prince in a pub after writing to him. A few days later, she was invited to Paisley Park and took part in the sessions of the album Lovesexy, credited as The Spirit Child.

• The first sessions for the recording of Ingrid Chavez's debut album took place at the end of the 1987. The idea was for Prince to integrate into music the poems of Ingrid.

But wishing to maintain her independence from Prince, Chavez went to Warner Bros. to discuss the contents of the album, after having recorded two songs, Hippy Blood and Little Mama, with Michael Koppelman (the sound engineer for Prince & a respected musician in his own right). Not a smart career move. The executives of Warner were enthusiastic about the album and wanted Ingrid to sing rather than to recite her poetry. This held little interest for Prince, who dropped any remaining interest in the project, leaving Michael Koppelman and Levi Seacer Jr to finish the album.

what does Prince having no children have anything to do with anything. what an idiotic statment. why does that have any place in this discussion? and what do these decade old stories have to do with this article?

"Contrary to what a recent interview with the New Yorker is reporting, a source close to the rocker tells us that Prince was grossly misquoted and misinterpreted as not down with gay rights.

Apparently, the interviewer did not even use a recorder when she spoke with His Holy Purpleness, and that when she called his people to fact check, it turned out she had several factual inaccuracies, including a little bit about Prince recovering from hip surgery, which he never even had. Like Prince is really made of bones or something and not nebulous gold glitter - come on!

What His Purpleness actually did was gesture to the Bible and said he follows what it teaches, referring mainly to the parts about loving everyone and refraining from judgment.

That sounds better, considering he's a man who caused his own Controversy!

"We're very angry he was misquoted," says our Prince insider...."

As a sidenote I'm calling bullshit with this interview....Not because I don't think Prince would be against Gay Marriage (With his JW beliefs that would not be that surprising..), but because he is never that blunt and upfront in his interviews when it comes to politics and religion...Dude is too much of a cryptic bastard...lol....This sounds like a reporter who needed a recorder (Hey Prince...that no tape recorder policy biting u in the ass, dog?...lol)

Apparently, the interviewer did not even use a recorder...

As if this is the interviewer's fault. Prince hasn't allowed recorders in print interviews for decades.

Prince has a knack for being a jerk especially to his fans.
I don't know what has lead him to be so enlightened.
The death of his child that he tried to cover up.
His two divorces?
It's ironic that his biggest competition, Michael Jackson, was undoubtedly psychologically damaged by Jehovah's witness.
Now Prince is a Jehovah's witness.
I have always been intrigued by Prince's interest in sex and religion and his attempt to reconcile them
I guess he's given up on sex and given up his mind to the ignorant thoughts of others.
He won't get my money anymore.
at least he is against voting.

God, I wish religion would just go away. I thought we've moved on from this rather lame first attempt at philosophy. If all this Bible bullshit came along tomorrow, wouldn't we just dismiss it as the silliness it really is?

I really feel sorry for people like PRIME. Couching their ignorance with "I'm against it but I respect them" silliness. That's because, in his/her heart, they know that the dogma they follow can't really be true. Besides, who cares what PRIME (and others) like and don't like? Their opinions are automatically invalid because they are supposedly revealed to them and not based on critical thought!

Whether Prince was misqoted or not, we know from the past that one of the most depressing things about the guy is his journey from love of free expression to religious bigotry, and the fanbots who follow this hatred should all be ashamed of themselves. It's not like the music is any good these days, anyway?

If you value love then you have no choice but to be against Prop H8te.
