prince: "when adam first made love to eve there was no need for questions"

reporter: "hand me the salt please"

God, I wish religion would just go away. I thought we've moved on from this rather lame first attempt at philosophy. If all this Bible bullshit came along tomorrow, wouldn't we just dismiss it as the silliness it really is?

I really feel sorry for people like PRIME. Couching their ignorance with "I'm against it but I respect them" silliness. That's because, in his/her heart, they know that the dogma they follow can't really be true. Besides, who cares what PRIME (and others) like and don't like? Their opinions are automatically invalid because they are supposedly revealed to them and not based on critical thought!

Whether Prince was misqoted or not, we know from the past that one of the most depressing things about the guy is his journey from love of free expression to religious bigotry, and the fanbots who follow this hatred should all be ashamed of themselves. It's not like the music is any good these days, anyway?

If you value love then you have no choice but to be against Prop H8te.

Again…I am here replying to an ignorant comment.

First off…Please do not feel sorry for me. I am very happy. I have all kinds of friends…white, black, Asian, gay, straight….I love my life. It’s sad in today’s world we are not aloud to express our opinions on a website for fans unless it aligns with others. Why is because I don’t like someone’s life style but still show love and respect towards them considered ignorance?

You know what…I am not going to continue. You are uneducated...You don’t care about other peoples opinions. You feel you have to insult and cast away others.

Oh yeah…the bible talks about folks like you too. wink

I have nothing but love for everyone. I have my beliefs and I have my opinions. This is my right as an American and a child of GOD. Until you can handle America and everyone’s beliefs who live here, then your comments our invald.

Also Prince was coming from the bible……

a good portion of prince's bread comes from gay money. he better start shouting about misquotes.

funny that he now blames not having a tape recorder as the culprit when he's never allowed tape recorders in the past yet has never spoken of misquotes before either.

i call bullshit.

I read this article early this morning - I have resigned from being a Prince fan – I’ve had enough of him - I will never support another Prince project - he's like the republicans want to do God's will and the democrats do not- for a person who doesn't vote because his religion tells him not too, he sure has a lot to say on politics –

Why, because he has is own oppinions about things?

That is not fair. The bible is black and white. If it says something is wrong, then it is wrong. There are fools out there that judge folks because of their interpretation but Prince isn't doing that. He was pointing things out and that was it. Now those folks who blow up abortion clinics and stand outside funerals and curse the families because the person was gay is so far from the bible...and everyone who comes from the bible shouldn't be compared to those idiots. Plus, saying these things about Prince is just as bad as what you are accusing P of doing.

I am no longer a Prince fan - I have no interest in his music - the only interest I have now is exposing him for the fraud he is – any boycott that I can participate in slamming prince I am totally for it!- which includes asking the radio stations to not support his new music, sending emails / letters to television shows like Ellen since Prince is a homohpobe why should she support him, picketing outside his concerts when he comes to tour, not buying and new music, etc..

Go right ahead and make a fool of yourself. I don't believe in homosexuality but I love them as a person. I have never told a gay joke. I work with and have sat down and ate with gay people. They have been at my house. I have family members who are gay. I still don't like what they are doing...That is my oppinion. Did you hear Prince (even in the mis-quotes) say anything negitive? He was sharing his beliefs and that was it. I have seen pictures of Prince and Ellen long after he became a JW and I am sure they are friends.

Question for you: If Prince said he doesn't like people who cheat on their spouses would you still slam Prince and protest? There are certain things in life that people accept and don't accept and that is thier life. As long as we treat everyone with respeact that is all that matters.

Much love...

The OLD TESTAMENT also speaks on certain foods man should not eat, certain cloths that should not be worn or used..etc. I want to know If these requests are being obeyed?

It's funny to me how people pick and choose one over the other. Is anyone boycotting red lobster or linen n things?

Here is a quote from the bible. JEREMIAH 10:2-4 ABOUT THE XMAS TREE

Jeremiah 10:2-4: "Thus saith the LORD, Learn not the way of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." (KJV).

Are you still going to put up that TREE THIS YR?

How about Christmas following the pagan calender of the Winter Solictise. And CHRIST being born no where near the 25TH of DECEMBER. Born when sheppard were tending to the flock in the fields? In December?

I have no ill will towards christians but If you research the BIBLE, the story of JESUS etc etc. You will find that these stories have been told over and over by different cultures in different contexts.

So to defend the belief that homosexual is wrong because of what the BIBLE teaches is plain wrong. JESUS himself would probably testify to that If HE WAS ALIVE AND WELL.

Jesus would also probably speak to all those gay and lesbian youth. Has anyone of these believers ever spoke to a lesbian or gay youth to know what is happening in there day to day life and how they came to homosexuality?

This is a culture of people judging but never ever associating with those they misunderstand. So out of misunderstand comes ignorance, hatred and assumptions.

This is a sickness and a cancer in humanity. And we could be so much more far along If we did not judge each other for the things we do not take time to understand.

To a sick world, get well soon!

Later, in the dining room, eating a bowl of carrot soup, he talked about an encounter that he described as a “teaching moment.” “There was this woman. She used to come to Paisley Park and just sit outside on the swings,” he said. “So I went out there one day and I was, like, ‘Hey, all my friends in there say you’re a stalker. And that I should call the police. But I don’t want to do that, so why don’t you tell me what you want to happen. Why are you here? How do you want this to end?’ And she didn’t really have an answer for that. In the end, all she wanted was to be seen, for me to look at her. And she left and didn’t come back.”

Okay, so how do we interpret this little passage. hmmmm

It reminds me of something he did, I believe in a Vegas show, about how "people want to be known". He also related it to himself; "people want me to know them". This swing-girl seems to be a variation on the same theme.
I tried to understand it back when I heard it, and I wasn't sure if he was analysing some human trait, or analysing his own position in the universe. In the end, based on my rudimentary knowledge of Prince and his EGO, I decided he was probably talking about his uniqueness.

I don't deny that you have the right to an opinion. I just say that it's invalid because it doesn't involve critical thought on your behalf. Someone has told you, in the past, that your beliefs are the right ones (a pastor, family member, whatever) and you believed them unquestioningly. Therefore, it's not right to take you seriously. Sorry...

It's like an evolutionist refusing to debate a Creationist....its useless because no matter how much evidence an evolutionist puts forth, a creationist will always say that this too, is the will of God. This is just a childish argument and that, my friend, is real ignorance.

Deep down, you know you hate those who don't think like you -especially fags-because what they do is disgusting (although we do know that some homophobes have some kind of latent homesexuality within them to). However, you want to feel like an 'enlightened religious person' so have to tell yourself that you love them to.. But this isn't how you feel. Admit it...your God won't let you. And, by the way, even if I was wrong and you do feel that way, respecting others began as a secular value not a religious one.

I hate to say this but it strikes me that you've never read any of the arguments against your position, ever. How's that for ignorance?

I would REALLY like Prince to speak for himself or make a formal statement to clear the air. I know Prince has had a love/hate relationship with the media, but at this point & age in his life he's a grown ass man. The smoke & mirrors are cool for a state performance, but when will he feel comfortable being "real" with the fans who've stayed down for over 30 years...bikini draws & all...Brotha Nelson, its time to speak up for yourself. You know this really boggles me especially coming from a guy who’s had TWO DIVORCES, and in the bible, in the old testament GOD says "I hate divorce" – and even Jesus mentions how divorce in the eyes of GOD teaches others to sin and yet I’ve never read a scripture in the bible quoting GOD or Jesus about homosexuality being a sin..

Jesus himself never mentioned anything about homosexuality in the bible - only Paul did, none of Jesus disciples mentioned anything about homo relationships only Paul did and PAUL never knew Jesus personally like the disciples- its funny how we take letters that were written to a specific human being and equate them to our lives.

It amazes me how once people start reading their version of the bible how soon they are to jump on the throne and begin telling people what’s right and what’s wrong according to their interpretation.. I think its wrong for a guy to wear high heels, make up and women clothes- actually I don’t think its so much wrong just disturbing unless you confess to being a cross dresser or a transsexual etc.. but to a be “straight man” and you look like a woman or gorgeous lesbian come on now!

Prince never said I'm a homophobe so why would you waste time and energy boycotting him when there are people and groups who are saying and doing things far worse than Prince to try and hurt that community. I'm not trying to pick a fight or disrespect your opinion, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from.

Dear Prince,

You are the #1 entertainment story at HuffingtonPost.com

You better start doing some damage control. (Having your publicist shoot an email to a blogger named Dr. Funkenberry doesn't count.)

Something tells me that Fred Armisen might have a sketch this week... just a week late because Beyonce was on last week...

He already has....PerezHilton.com

"Contrary to what a recent interview with the New Yorker is reporting, a source close to the rocker tells us that Prince was grossly misquoted and misinterpreted as not down with gay rights.

Apparently, the interviewer did not even use a recorder when she spoke with His Holy Purpleness, and that when she called his people to fact check, it turned out she had several factual inaccuracies, including a little bit about Prince recovering from hip surgery, which he never even had. Like Prince is really made of bones or something and not nebulous gold glitter - come on!

What His Purpleness actually did was gesture to the Bible and said he follows what it teaches, referring mainly to the parts about loving everyone and refraining from judgment.

That sounds better, considering he's a man who caused his own Controversy!

"We're very angry he was misquoted," says our Prince insider...."

As a sidenote I'm calling bullshit with this interview....Not because I don't think Prince would be against Gay Marriage (With his JW beliefs that would not be that surprising..), but because he is never that blunt and upfront in his interviews when it comes to politics and religion...Dude is too much of a cryptic bastard...lol....This sounds like a reporter who needed a recorder (Hey Prince...that no tape recorder policy biting u in the ass, dog?...lol)

This is really funny stuff. So what this says is that the reporter actually showed Prince the article before publishing. It's the only way to "fact check" an interview after all.

Initially I was going to stay out of this discussion but I just have to comment. What really irks me is when people say they don't like or agree with someone else's lifestyle as if that person is some monster or serial killer. Homosexuality is a preferance (and not a choice for some people), but it is based in love. The only thing that gay people want is to be able to love and have to same rights as every other person. What I don't understand is how people can be so obessed with what happens in someone else's bedroom as if it has a direct impact on their lives. Are you that unhappy with yourself that you need to find something in someone else that makes you feel better? What is truely amazing to me is the arguement about the sanctity of marriage. Yet, we have drive through marriages in Vegas and the divorce rate is over 60% (maybe higher).

Don't use the bible as a sheild to condem something that is not meant for you to understand if you're not gay. Just accept it and move on. We have bigger problems than to worry about who is sleeping with whom. Do you really think that gay people want to be gay? Chris Rock said it best- the white person cleaning floors wouldn't trade places with him and he is rich.

It really irks me how people use religion as a means to divide when the whole underlying meaning is to unite.

I am not sure what to believe about what Prince said. He has changed so much ever since he became a JW, I wouldn't put it past him. I remember on Oprah when he said hey, whatever floats your boat. That's the way it should be. My mother is gay and so is one of my good friends. All they want is what everyone else wants, to be treated fairly and find someone to spend the rest of their lives with. How can anyone with a heart be against that? Seriously, if you opposed everything I just said think about it for it a second and give me an answer besides "god said it's wrong", or "it's not natural". Love is natural.

Enuff of my rant. I really wish people would wake up!

No matter what your politic beliefs or religious beliefs are,U have 2 remember that it's his world and he's free 2 do what he wants;and say what he wants. As far as no longer liking Prince because of a recent article in some rag, well 4 get it. I have been following His Royal Badness 4 over 30 years now.And through out his carrer I have read and heard stuff that I did not agree with. But anything that's in the press U have 2 take with a grain of salt,Prince did not write the article. So we have no clue if its actual and factual? I will only believe whats said or written by his voice or his hand.Tell than,4 get it. I will always love Prince Rogers Nelson 4 his amazing talent no matter how many times he changes his style or his beliefs.Go back 2 1978 and listen and then jam his newest stuff. It's all excellent music, yeah maybe no more cussing and sexual innuendos, but that's all part of grown up as a musican and as a human !

Thanx 4 keeping me entertained 4 the last 4 decades Prince dove
peace PEACE.....It does not mean 2 be in a place where there is no noise, trouble,or hardwork. It means 2 be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart ! heart
