Again…I am here replying to an ignorant comment.

First off…Please do not feel sorry for me. I am very happy. I have all kinds of friends…white, black, Asian, gay, straight….I love my life. It’s sad in today’s world we are not aloud to express our opinions on a website for fans unless it aligns with others. Why is because I don’t like someone’s life style but still show love and respect towards them considered ignorance?

You know what…I am not going to continue. You are uneducated...You don’t care about other peoples opinions. You feel you have to insult and cast away others.

Oh yeah…the bible talks about folks like you too. wink

I have nothing but love for everyone. I have my beliefs and I have my opinions. This is my right as an American and a child of GOD. Until you can handle America and everyone’s beliefs ho live here, then your comments our invaded.

Also Prince was coming from the bible……

I don't deny that you have the right to an opinion. I just say that it's invalid because it doesn't involve critical thought on your behalf. Someone has told you, in the past, that your beliefs are the right ones (a pastor, family member, whatever) and you believed them unquestioningly. Therefore, it's not right to take you seriously. Sorry...

It's like an evolutionist refusing to debate a Creationist....its useless because no matter how much evidence an evolutionist puts forth, a creationist will always say that this too, is the will of God. This is just a childish argument and that, my friend, is real ignorance.

Deep down, you know you hate those who don't think like you -especially fags-because what they do is disgusting (although we do know that some homophobes have some kind of latent homesexuality within them to). However, you want to feel like an 'enlightened religious person' so have to tell yourself that you love them to.. But this isn't how you feel. Admit it...your God won't let you. And, by the way, even if I was wrong and you do feel that way, respecting others began as a secular value not a religious one.

I hate to say this but it strikes me that you've never read any of the arguments against your position, ever. How's that for ignorance?

PS. Oh yeah…normal people talks about folks like you too. wink

Firsr off...you don't know me or anything about me so don't sit there and talk about what I believe. Second...you are a sick person.

Like I said in the begining...I have nothing but love for everyone. I refuse to go 'round and 'round about this. It doesn't have to do with the bible it's just normal kindness...If I don't like what your doing that is my right. I still have to treat you with respect and love. What is wrong with that?

When you are on your death bed (many many years from now I pray) I am curious on the name you will be calling out....

I'll be on another thread....Lets just end this and lets get back to what are here for....discussing Prince and his music.

Peace 2 U

If you are no longer a Prince fan, why did you read the article and respond?
Prince never said I'm a homophobe so why would you waste time and energy boycotting him when there are people and groups who are saying and doing things far worse than Prince to try and hurt that community. I'm not trying to pick a fight or disrespect your opinion, I'm just trying to understand where you're coming from.

I'm just trying to understand what was the purpose for the New Yorker interview, he didn't talk about the book, he didn't talk about music??

And right now I am a scorned lover who has loved and supported prince since '84.. I’ve tolerated a lot of his quirks and stunts but the republican comment and gay comment just took the cake..

he has done some mean stuff to people including not showing up to Sheila E's Family Jamm in LA, which I flew to LA and I heard he was right in town, nonetheless it was a good time..

or how about after I went to the Love4Oneanother concerts in Atlanta and New York paid for the after show and Prince only showed up for a second to pick up his check from the club, granted it was not a guaranteed that he would perform but he didn't even acknowledge the room, he walked thru and walked right out..

And where is Roadhouse Garden?? Lol –

It has come to my attention that the link to the Mia Bocca Video no longer works on my site. This is due to Prince's NPG Records copyright infringement whatever. I am saddened by this particularly as this song was jointly worked on. As I recall calling various Italian restaurants to get the direct translations for what we wanted to say. That being said, we ended up getting several busboys I think who were Mexican and well Italian and Mexican...not the same. :-)LOL I was constantly corrected in Italy about my Bad Italian. What's the surprise in this? Prince has been a religious fanatic for years and if you didn't think his beliefs were going to line up with a conservative world view as a result, you've either been fooling yourself or not paying attention for the last decade.

And really, what's the loss? He hasn't made any music worth listening to since the late 80's and is nothing but a greatest hits act live. Sure, he can still play and outperform anyone, but it's not like there's a new creative era that anyone is going to miss out on as a result of questioning whether or not they should or shouldn't remain a fan. He's entered his old man phase and he's not coming back.

Play the records from the 80's before he was brain washed, they're all that's ever mattered anyway.

Prince is 100% against all gay people wake up!!
He chooses to be part of this religous group and so he has to live under the rules of the JW simple as that. He could have choosen another religion but he is a JW now if it is good or bad I´m not in the position to judge -judge for yourself....

i really, really want to believe that this was a grievous misquote. But given the number of times Prince has in recent years been alledged to have said things in a similar manner, it adds up to too much to discount. I'm afraid he may have really said it.

It's so sad; so disheartening to see someone who once was so free and openminded become enslaved to religious dogma. To see someone who once espoused freedom of individuality and sexuality, rail against it.

I'll still love the man's art, but the more I see of Prince as a person (at least how he comes across in the media) the less respect I have for him. If it any of it is untrue or a misrepresentation, I'd hope that he'd come forward himself to clear the air. But that he so far has said nothing to challenge the image of a narrowminded religious bigot speaks volumes.

If he were still making great music-- hell, even decent music wink -- this would be a non-issue for most. Prince has been back and forth with the same issues for atleast 30 years only now he doesn't have his talent to hide behind when he slips up.

If he lives long enough he'll realize all of these ideals and judgments of his are useless. Then maybe he'll be free (again?). I won't judge him for his beliefs though. All we can do is hope that he attains peace.... but he won't find it in a book. After all, God could make the same complaint since he doesn't allow tape recorders either.

It is really not that hard to find out if Princes hates gay people or not.
If he was misquote or not doesn´t matter people.

What does the JW religion think of gay people?? Just answer the question and you will know the truth!
Quite simple isn´t it??

Except that my 'beliefs' are proven fact. Yours are, well...beliefs. I know I shouldn't really respond because you're not even trying to argue...you just want it all to go away so u can close your ears and cuddle up with an imaginary friend. Look, I have nothing against you but please remember that you're talking to an adult who has thought these things through. The first thing you have to do is be honest with yourself. Think about that before responding. I want to hear what you think, not what someone has told you to think. OK?

I'm completely baffled that anyone would be surprised by this. Of course it wasn't a misquote. Perhaps a word or two was, due to there being no recording device, but the thrust of the statement is surely accurate. Why? Because he's made similar comments in the past -- see Wendy and Lisa -- has removed anything he considers 'vulgar' from his own music and is a member of a group that condems homosexual behavior -- how on earth would it be a grievous misquote? It would be more shocking if the closed-minded curmudgeon was accepting of the homosexual lifestyle at this point in his life.

Again, if this is shocking to you, you simply have not been paying attention to Prince and his moronic, brain-washed pyscho-babble for the past decade.

I don't get it. He says that certain thngs are not in the bible. Then points to it for his answer. I don't recall gay rights mentioned in the Bible. I know he's a JW now, but there was a time he'd be sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever. confused

I read this article early this morning - I have resigned from being a Prince fan – I’ve had enough of him - I will never support another Prince project - he's like the republicans want to do God's will and the democrats do not- for a person who doesn't vote because his religion tells him not too, he sure has a lot to say on politics –

You know this really boggles me especially coming from a guy who’s had TWO DIVORCES, and in the bible, in the old testament GOD says "I hate divorce" – and even Jesus mentions how divorce in the eyes of GOD teaches others to sin and yet I’ve never read a scripture in the bible quoting GOD or Jesus about homosexuality being a sin..

Jesus himself never mentioned anything about homosexuality in the bible - only Paul did, none of Jesus disciples mentioned anything about homo relationships only Paul did and PAUL never knew Jesus personally like the disciples- its funny how we take letters that were written to a specific human being and equate them to our lives.

It amazes me how once people start reading their version of the bible how soon they are to jump on the throne and begin telling people what’s right and what’s wrong according to their interpretation.. I think its wrong for a guy to wear high heels, make up and women clothes- actually I don’t think its so much wrong just disturbing unless you confess to being a cross dresser or a transsexual etc.. but to a be “straight man” and you look like a woman or gorgeous lesbian come on now!

I am no longer a Prince fan - I have no interest in his music - the only interest I have now is exposing him for the fraud he is – any boycott that I can participate in slamming prince I am totally for it!- which includes asking the radio stations to not support his new music, sending emails / letters to television shows like Ellen since Prince is a homohpobe why should she support him, picketing outside his concerts when he comes to tour, not buying and new music, etc..

why would someone like yourself waste your time building resentments against a musician who you used to like but now your only interest is to boycott him etc. just cuz he changed his way of thinking . people do that when they mature and age and they have every right to that. I don't see where prince may sound homophobic but if it erks you so much change the channel. you still come on a fansite and you still read the articles and then you emphasize you're not a Prince fan. you sound like a fanatic.

I'm not shocked at all, but I wish I'd had reason to be surprised. I'm just saddened by it. It's always a disappointment when someone gives their mind and free will over to ignorant superstition and bigotry. But especially so when it's someone who, as a young man, seemed to have known better.

Maybe it's my naivete speaking, but I thought we were supposed to get wiser with age, and not the other way around. confused

Some of u guys are a joke...ur comments re Prince make me think this is not the org i used to know. Get over yourselves for goodness sake. If he was misquoted, who are u to judge and roll ur eyes at that?

This is suppposed to be a forum for Prince fans.. right now some of u r just a bunch of haters and that's disappointing to see. So don't stay on the forum - get off it; don't hang around.

Loved him then, love him now.. not one single one of us is perfect. There is much more to Prince than bad reporting.

People change.. there´s a time when you´ve loved your husband but when slapped you against the wall several times how can you love him anymore? Just loved him then , love him now?? Does that work??.....

I am not talking about an abusive husband.. we just need to get this into perspective. I am talking about an artist.. his beliefs does not impact on how i judge myself. Prince's music speaks for itself; I will not give the article much more thought. I just find it so agressive the outpouring.. real shame.

why would someone like yourself waste your time building resentments against a musician who you used to like but now your only interest is to boycott him etc. just cuz he changed his way of thinking . people do that when they mature and age and they have every right to that. I don't see where prince may sound homophobic but if it erks you so much change the channel. you still come on a fansite and you still read the articles and then you emphasize you're not a Prince fan. you sound like a fanatic.

call me what u like, but just like people who disapprove of R. kelly, Janet, michael, britney, etc, prince neds to be taken down a leg or two.. and i am the one who will start the rally.. it only takes one to gt the ball rolling

and like may 'fans" your brain washed.. i can't wait until he doe somewthing that really gets under your skin,,, see you on the otherside.. lol

PS. Oh yeah…normal people talks about folks like you too. wink

your post reminds me of one of the best books on this whole topic i've
read in quite a while. dawkins' god delusion. especially the last line
of the highlighted bit gives me hope that there are indeed also people
out there who seek to educate themselves beyond the limiting frames of
environment. a round of applause is well deserved for that

I've met fans who converted to JW because Prince did. It's not unheard of.

i really, really want to believe that this was a grievous misquote. But given the number of times Prince has in recent years been alledged to have said things in a similar manner, it adds up to too much to discount. I'm afraid he may have really said it.

On the real, I don't think he's down with gay marriage...And yes, everyone knows what he said to Wendy & Lisa (although that didn't stop them from working and playing with Prince again...)...

But in terms of this interview, I'm not buying some of the quotes...Only because Prince is much too cryptic and calculating to say some of this stuff so bluntly...That's not his style...But who's fault is that when u don't allow tape recorders?...

I can only speak for myself. It seems that you know all about me. Those that change prob are the ones who are not secure in themselves and that is not his responsibility. So when Prince was dry humping in his tight black numbers.. he was a role model? He never put himself there, other people did. He has always rocked the boat.. I think the media make and break people by over-reacting and they have way too much power - u know what they say about power huh. What makes u so sure he was not misquoted?

I just said i don't think he's down with gay marriage...what else would that mean?...lol...My problem is some of the quotes...They are too blunt...Not Prince like...but that's all dude's fault...He lays out the parameters for thse interviews...
