I don't get it. He says that certain thngs are not in the bible. Then points to it for his answer. I don't recall gay rights mentioned in the Bible. I know he's a JW now, but there was a time he'd be sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever. confused

I understand people change their views at points in their life(I don't agree with his though) but why did he still sing Controversy on the last tour...

People R still wondering if he's black, white, str8, or gay. People R still trying 2 probe his head and private life 4 information. People want 2 go beyond his music when, in some cryptic ways, he's already laid it all out. His life is really laid out in his music. Why do people want 2 probe more especially when we all know how difficult he can B when it comes 2 xplaining his private life outside the "musical" confort zone? Sometimes, I just don't get people myself. Let's just enjoy what the man gives us and leave it alone. There's certain things that mankind should keep just between GOD and themselves.

I kinda have two opinions about this.. I am glad I can separate Prince's great music with his religious beliefs.. If he's a JW I am cool with that but I dont feel he should mix his public life with religon which I feel should be a private part of one's life no matter if that person is a public figure or an average private citizen.

and on the other hand I am starting to feel Prince is using his religion by preaching about it during interviews as another angle or another way to be taboo again in today's society.. back in the day Prince used sexuality and odd clothes as his platform and his way to separate himself from other artists to make him appear taboo again. and etc.. Since sex is everywhere and people are desensitized by it and are more offended by religion.. hes using the latter to one again appear to be a rebel. which if its actually true then thats sad.. but if hes sincere about his faith then God Bless him. I just wish he kept that side of his life personal.

a good portion of prince's bread comes from gay money. he better start shouting about misquotes.

funny that he now blames not having a tape recorder as the culprit when he's never allowed tape recorders in the past yet has never spoken of misquotes before either.

i call bullshit.

I haven't read through this whole thread, so I'm not sure if someone has responded on this point, but he has spoken of misquotes before. I think it was around late 1999/early 2000 when Prince had a section on his website dedicated to correcting supposed misquotes that were appearing in the various magazines and press pieces that were a part of his "Rave..." publicity blitz. I remember reading the corrections then and thinking how it made no sense to deny recorders or note taking to an interviewer and then dedicate a section of your official website to correcting any perceived errors which followed. It seems to be very convenient for Prince... if he doesn't like how something looks in print he just claims to be misquoted, and as there is no proof to the contrary Prince then gets the benefit of the doubt from any sympathetic fan/supporter.

Anyhow, I'm not sure how long that section of the site was up and maintained. My memory places the online corrections to some time circa 2000 though.

FWIW. wink

Im not going to argue about this with anyone. But I do need to understand why people think homosexuality is a choice? Tell me how someone chooses this?

Do you remember puberty? At that time did you start choosing to feel for boys or did you make yourself think about boys? Could you have made yourself dig girls.. and think about them sexually?

I can tell you for a FACT, that I NEVER sat down and made myself like MEN.. From I was an teenager I remember feeling for boys.... what boys feel for girls around that age.

So, where do you get off telling ME, I chose... How do you know?

This is such a shocking claim.. Maybe someone out there wanted to try being gay or was curious..but who the hell is choosing sexuality like its fucking 31 flavors at baskin robins.

It's amazing the amount of people who think they are in a position to judge Prince as human being. To use the word hypocrite is crass. If Prince is living a Christian lifestyle now, his past doesn't make him a hypocrite. I used to get drunk at least once a week, now that I have gained Bible knowledge I no longer abuse alcohol. Does that make me a hypocrite? Of course not! People can and do change. confused

well spoken!
It is funny how people react. People can, and do change, all the time.
Then others are talking about how he dresses, or used to dress, and so on. WHO cares? I do not recall anything int he Bible saying how a man and woman SHOULD dress...
Let Prince feel how he wants to feel.

I see these points, but think about it. Prince probably does not expect EVERYONE he TALKS to, to try to quote EVERYTHING he says....The man does not care to be recorded via tape recorder, then apparently, he would like for his PRIVATE conversations to remain PRIVATE....BUT, since the media, and jounalists always want to attempt to repeat everything he says, then yeah, he gets peeved when he is misquoted. It is all sad because the guy cannot talk to anyone without watching what he says....I would be peeved too if I had to watch every little thing I say...
Ya know?

Well considering a prophet or two spent several years walking around in a loin cloth I don't think God is concerned with how people dress either lol So I guess that makes three of us giggle

sad Just because its in the bible doesn't mean its correct Prince! No wives should not "OBEY" their husbands, slavery is not just (as is in the bible). The 10 commandments did not focus on homosexuality! Neither did Jesus, let alone marriage, many of his apostles were married & left their wives for him. Jesus had enough trouble trying to get people to love & not turn to violence so give me a freaking break Prince, say hello to 21st century for me will ya! Very "christian" of you, a true christian is accepting everyone, you need to reread the bible if you're so into it. And go to Theology class mad while you're at it! Damn ass hypocrite!

Who cares about gay marriage? If you're gay, fine. I don't care. If you're straight, I don't care either. However, I don't think gays should be married. Too much tax implications. Why would they want to get married, anyway? I'm actually against all marriage - gay, straight, man and dog, woman and cow, whatever... marriage is a trap. I've seen so many people screwed over by it -- especially men, who lose their homes that they paid for, reduced to living in a cheap apartment while making alimony and child support payments, it's completely sick. A woman has all the power in marriage. Marriage in today's society is irrelevant. Only stupid people get married. And only stupid people believe in God.

To the contrary. Only stupid people don't believe in God(s). There is an obvious design to the human body and on a higher level, the universe. If you think that's a result of random events then I don't know what to tell you.

Forget the Bible. Read (and comprehend) a book of science and you'll find God.

The argument lies in whether ours is solely a detached creator, some deranged puppetmaster in the sky, or something in between.
