yea, race is always a precarious topic to touch on but i think it's completely relevent to bring up when discussing the discrimination towards gay people. simply because it, along with gender and class are the main reasons people have been discriminated against in this country (and the world, really) it just so happens that it's still ok for people to be openly discriminatory towards gay people. it's wrong.

I see exactly what youre saying but I think anch felt the need to say that because pald is making it seem like youre fearful or hateful for not believing in gay marriage. And people on this very thread are implying that those who arent for gay marriage have missed the memo and "need 2 change". I always interpreted this as that being gay was no problem to Prince. Have I always been wrong about this?.

And no pleasureprincipal, I love my uncle for who he is not what he is or what he does, when I am with him and his gay friends we have fun and they respect that I am a Jehovah Witness, my uncle and his friends are awesome people we have fun and we sit and talk rather it be about god, men or whatever..I love him because he is a beautiful person and his friends, and I have seen and witnessed the harsh reality in being gay, so I know people can be very hurtful, they can and I do affend him because he is my uncle, yes my uncle and I know one day he will at least come to the kingdom hall, he does anything for his lovely neice!!

pald1 let me answer your question to help you think on these things...earthly man does nit belong to man, who is walking even to direct his steps..in other words pald1 you cannot even think for yourself nor walk by yourself without the help from god so that question has been answered for you, as for the two-headed sword..for the word of god is alive and exerts power and is sharper than any two-edged sword and the pierces even to the dividing of souls and spirit and of joints and their marrow, and is able to discern thoughts and intention of the heart.. so that is why man is divided and gods word is alive it cuts the man so deep he cannot disern it that why some accept the truth and some don't and besides like Jesus stated that he does not speak of his own originality but he speaks of his father, why do you think Prince points at his bible, saying too people..hey I did not say it god did..so why are people getting upset with him, Prince did not write the bible, he is just living what is required of him by his father god

Sweetie, that's not an answer! That's a blind quote from a reference to a made-up text (which u never actually quote from). Ok, let's keep this simple. Why don't you tell me, simply and in an articulate manner, why you feel that being against gay marriage is not fearful and ignorant? I'm willing to believe that it isn't but you have to credit me with enough intelligence to be satisfied with something more than a dodgy quote.

I hesitate to use an analogy because you'll proabably focus on this instead, but here goes: Imagine I'm your bank manager and refuse to give you a loan. You ask why? And I say, well, in the annals of High Street banking, it says that I should never give loans to people with the initals PP BUT if you had any other initials it would be ok! Sorry. Sounds silly doesn't it? And you would rightly think it preposterous...deciding that some people should be allowed one thing others not...based on an arbitray decision made long ago...but that's what your basing your argument on. I don't say you can't have a right to your opinion but I do think it worthless because its based out of fear and ignorance...prove me wrong..that's all.

When asked about his perspective on social issues—gay marriage, abortion—Prince tapped his Bible and said, “God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, ‘Enough.’ ”

I'm willing to believe this is a misquote because he CANNOT be this hypocritical!

Im not going to argue about this with anyone. But I do need to understand why people think homosexuality is a choice? Tell me how someone chooses this?

Do you remember puberty? At that time did you start choosing to feel for boys or did you make yourself think about boys? Could you have made yourself dig girls.. and think about them sexually?

I can tell you for a FACT, that I NEVER sat down and made myself like MEN.. From I was an teenager I remember feeling for boys.... what boys feel for girls around that age.

So, where do you get off telling ME, I chose... How do you know?

This is such a shocking claim.. Maybe someone out there wanted to try being gay or was curious..but who the hell is choosing sexuality like its fucking 31 flavors at baskin robins.

I'm just trying to understand what was the purpose for the New Yorker interview, he didn't talk about the book, he didn't talk about music??

And right now I am a scorned lover who has loved and supported prince since '84.. I’ve tolerated a lot of his quirks and stunts but the republican comment and gay comment just took the cake..

he has done some mean stuff to people including not showing up to Sheila E's Family Jamm in LA, which I flew to LA and I heard he was right in town, nonetheless it was a good time..

or how about after I went to the Love4Oneanother concerts in Atlanta and New York paid for the after show and Prince only showed up for a second to pick up his check from the club, granted it was not a guaranteed that he would perform but he didn't even acknowledge the room, he walked thru and walked right out..

And where is Roadhouse Garden?? Lol –

The Petit Prince & his Web Sheriff!!
Current mood: disappointed
Category: Music

It has come to my attention that the link to the Mia Bocca Video no longer works on my site. This is due to Prince's NPG Records copyright infringement whatever. I am saddened by this particularly as this song was jointly worked on. As I recall calling various Italian restaurants to get the direct translations for what we wanted to say. That being said, we ended up getting several busboys I think who were Mexican and well Italian and Mexican...not the same. :-)LOL I was constantly corrected in Italy about my Bad Italian. (Only in fun tho')

Personality, Ego and the Essence of a man. Which one is he? Being in the world and not of it, is difficult.

All I can say at the moment is,
" He (Prince) is like a man using a candle to look for the sun"
Jalal ad-Din Rumi quote

you're still here? lol

wonder what are you a Prince zombie??? lol

if so, that would be sad indeed. although, it wouldn't really surprise me
anymore at this point.

the thing that bugs me most about all this is that he seems to aspire more
to being a prophet these days than a musician.

his antics go beyond simply being religious imo. the things he says about
his negotiations and interactions with people and corporations reeks of a
religious fanaticism.

ok, so he lives in america where religion is still regarded more highly or
tolerated and accepted more widely (well it seems to be a norm almost) but
i can only imagine what it would be like if he tried to broker a deal over
here in say the netherlands or in germany and threw his bible in the game,
quoting scripture and asking people what their beliefs are etc.

they'd laugh at him, prince or no prince.

but that's all besides the point. imo everyone has the right to believe or
not believe how they see fit. it's just that prince's views have always and
continue ever more so to seem hypocritical and subject to change as soon as
his whims tell him something different.

I feel sad that he chooses to go in that direction. For me, it came all as a surprise. After the album 3121, I thought that he had eased up on such such beliefs.

So, that's why people in the audience laughed at him last year when he said that he was going to spend some time reading the bible.

Well, in light of recent events with the uprising on gay marriage, to hear him say, in a recent interview, the things he says kinda cements for me what I started to feel last year with the whole youtube deal I first thought he was back on the right track when he made up with Wendy & Lisa (sort of), but then to hear him say this, it's just ignorant. If Mr. Nelson chooses to come around any time in the future, I'll buy the first new album that comes along after that. It's sad, but there are just some things that are more important.

It's a shame to realize that the Prince of Dirty Mind really is dead and gone. The Prince that wrote Computer Blue and many other controversial classics has definitely left the building. Little Richard was not the example to follow here, Mr. Nelson.

for those of you on this thread slamming prince i'm not sure what you feel like you need from him, a role model? a spiritual guide?. Prince is an imperfect human who found something he believes is stabilizing for him, and for that i say good. he's a rock and roll star LOL a sheltered guy who never worked a day in his life and will always be a child in certain ways. none of this shit ( prop 8, the elections nor health care) will never hit home with him as it would a real adult who has to work 8 hours a day. He was making music and $ when our current president was but a college freshman, how can we consider anything he believes in his alternative universe to be so relevant to our lives. Hell, Prince aint even at the peak of his celeberty LOL, he's a legend no doubt but a fringe celeberty only relevant when he picks up a guitar. I love prince for what he's given me with his art but at this current moment this is a guy who is close to 20 years removed from a relevant peice of work which is kind of his job. So, calm down, continue to love the wack job ( cus you know you do) and pray that he can keep it together enough to at the very least do his job in 2009.If he cant focus enough to do that then it is he who is committing the great sin.
