While I imagine your moderating remit includes scanning forums for appropriate language and behavior, does it also include prompting users when and how to respond too?

Didn't think so.

interestingly enough, not only am i a moderator of this site, i'm also a participating member.

In your case, I would say that's a conflict of interest

not if i observe the balance fairly, which i would like to think i've been doing for at least the past four years.

in my comments to you on this thread, have i once threatened to do anything to your account? no. i have only made comments to you as one user of this site to another.

Drawing lines between homosexuality and heterosexuality to me is as archaic and contemptible as holding one race above another.

But you know what?

I’m not going to hate these people and act just as poorly, even if they hate me. And I’m sure that they would if they only took the time. wink

Change is always painfully slow and in about 50 years time (hey, it would be tomorrow if I were king) no one but some extreme radicals are going to care about such ridiculous trivialities passed off as God’s truth.

God has so many messengers. What a lucky deity. Too bad the messages are as richly varied as the colors in a rainbow.

But humans must be tribal -- must conclude that one of these hues is God, and that they are on the winning team.

Most have comes to terms with pork, I’m sure that we can come to terms with other passages in these divine manifests that can only be properly interpreted by whichever group happens to be holding court.

When threads get really interesting or with some intense discussions theres always someone that wants it to be locked.even some mods.

a forum that supposedly is about rock'n roll...with censorship.

So here’s how it is: you’ve got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to this.” He pointed to a Bible. “But there’s the problem of interpretation, and you’ve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn’t. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you’ve got blue, you’ve got the Democrats, and they’re, like, ‘You can do whatever you want.’ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.”

Great! I always thought P was a GOP supporter, just as i am! And i'm very proud of my vote for John Sidney McCain.

what republicans you talking about? the ones that hide out in public bathroom stalls looking for sex? the ones that sexually harass teenaged pages? the ones that point fingers saying "im more American than you are nana", or the ones that lie on Senate disclosure forms and have to resign a 40year career b/c they're now felons? hmmm

You're back! Groan.

I responded to this comment earlier, and still think that the guy puts himself in a delicate position as both 'moderator' and 'paticipator.' Surely, this must be an obvious contradiction to anyone who values balance.

It makes no sense to me, but then that wouldn't be out of the ordinary on a thread such as this.

the only naive person here is you comfort, you fail to realize that republicans and democrats are not that much different...their fundamental differences lie in government spending, separation of church and state, and war profiteering or um excuse me "national security". everything else like jobs, education and healthcare, competing in a global market - the things that matter to the average joe and jane, are quite similar. your beloved republicans are mostly, not entirely, but mostly responsible for the nasty state of affairs the US is in and that's why we now will have a Dem for president and a Dem controlled congress. And unlike republicans, Dems more often than not, practice what they preach be it right or wrong. Republicans like to just preach and play holier than thou then go hang out in a closet...hint hint biggrin

I suppose he's walking on a tight rope, but if anybody can walk that line it's Anxiety. Besides, this is a website loosely dedicated to Prince not a California Senate seat we're talking about. smile
