Later, in the dining room, eating a bowl of carrot soup, he talked about an encounter that he described as a “teaching moment.” “There was this woman. She used to come to Paisley Park and just sit outside on the swings,” he said. “So I went out there one day and I was, like, ‘Hey, all my friends in there say you’re a stalker. And that I should call the police. But I don’t want to do that, so why don’t you tell me what you want to happen. Why are you here? How do you want this to end?’ And she didn’t really have an answer for that. In the end, all she wanted was to be seen, for me to look at her. And she left and didn’t come back.”

Okay, so how do we interpret this little passage. hmmmm

Indeed. Prince is bold. I admire his strength and ability to maintain serenity during the years 1993-1999. Why do you think Dr. Funkenberry has released a statement to say that Prince was misquoted?

The Bible didnt fall out of the sky! It wasn't found completely written. It is NOT the word of God.

So Prince get the panties back on your face and start playing killer guitar solos and stop wasting your time with all that nonsense.

cool

Enough with the "Old Friends For Sale" rehash every other year! WE HEARD THAT already! Start doing new things - different things and stop walking in place musically and with Larry Graham.

Enough with the Carrot Soup and eat a burger. WOW do people get weird when they get older. rolleyes

As IncredibleD posted in another thread:

Sorry, Perez - The New Yorker Stands By Its Prince Story
By Eliot Van Buskirk November 18, 2008 | 12:09:12 PMCategories: People

A recent New Yorker article paints a short, complicated picture of the artist currently known as Prince in which the star -- a noted practitioner of the Jehovah's Witness religion -- responds to questions about social issues.

A PerezHilton source says the New Yorker misquoted Prince regarding gay marriage and other issues. The New Yorker maintains that its story is accurate.

"You've got the Republicans, and basically they want to live according to [the Bible]," says Prince in the article. "But there's the problem of interpretation, and you've got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesn't. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum you've got blue, you've got the Democrats, and they're, like, 'You can do whatever you want.' Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right...

"God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, 'Enough.'"

At the other end of the literary spectrum is PerezHilton. The publication claims an outraged source within Prince's camp accuses the New Yorker of misquoting Prince. The source also apparently claims that the New Yorker's reporter, Claire Hoffman, did not record the interview, which could make it hard to unravel what really happened.

"Contrary to what a recent interview with the New Yorker is reporting, a source close to the rocker tells us that Prince was grossly misquoted and misinterpreted as not down with gay rightsm," reads a post on the site. "Apparently, the interviewer did not even use a recorder... What His Purpleness actually did was gesture to the Bible and said he follows what it teaches, referring mainly to the parts about loving everyone and refraining from judgment. 'We're very angry he was misquoted,' says our Prince insider."

However, the New Yorker stands by its story, as a spokeswoman confirmed to Wired.com on Tuesday morning. It sounds like this Prince insider may have been doing some damage control for his client, whose views may come as a surprise to some of his fans.

http://blog.wired.com/mus...z---n.html

Damage control. There you have it, JayJai. I say he's afraid.

in the words of another poster.....unless i see the interview and hear him say something HIMSELF, i'm not buying it. How many of us have had things we've said twisted around or even had words up in our mouths?
From his lips to my ear is the only way i'm buying any of this. That being said....it is odd that Prince or his camp hasn't officially released a statement saying his was misquoted. Or have they???

You're not going to hear Prince, himself, come forward and say he was misquoted and that he's perfectly fine with the idea of gay marriage and homosexuality. Mainly, because he's a pussy and also because the gays have put a big chunk of change in his pockets over the years. Keeping the cash flowing is most important to him these days. Prince is a J.W. J.W.'s think homosexuality is WRONG because the Bible says it's WRONG. Some may not want to believe Prince feels this way but as a J.W. he HAS TO FEEL THIS WAY. You have to reconcile with yourself whether or not you want to support him even though he's a bigot. A cowardly bigot, I might add.

The New Yorker did the cover to sell magazines and to create controversy.

This is a man that's been in the business (music) since 1979 and all we got from this interview was "oh your into GOD" and "oh your Black" and "oh do you like Gay People"

Wow, those are pretty strong words. eek I guess we should shut down the Org then. Now that Prince has been deemed a bigot then what is the future of this site. (I don't believe he is, I have to hear it from himself) but if that is the vibe here then what do you think is the future of this section of the site?

This brouhaha will soon pass, just like every other time he's ruffled the collective feathers of his fans. We'll talk it to death, then Prince will offer some kind of olive leaf like a new download or a few club dates, and after that we'll all move on.

i know but people throw out words like hateful, bigot and inhumane and if it's that bad then perhaps Ben should shut down the site. right? but then again, those same people throwing out the names continue to log in and come here and follow his career so....so much for that. lol

I hope it blows over but moreso i hope lessons are learned with Prince and just keep the focus on the music. Like you said, i want the happy Prince back in the public.

Honestly, no disrespect but, step back a moment. Prince is a musician. He's a very good musician, but that's all he is. Why does his opinion matter to you so much that you want to "expose" him for a "fraud"? Why do you want to boycott anyone? Prince is not a politician. Prince has been the President of PrinceWorld for the past thirty years. Ain't nuttin' changed. We give celebrities too much power over our emotions and our feelings, when they may not know a goddamn thing outside of what they do best. Would you consider Kanye West an authority on race relations? Would you consult 50 Cent about the current financial crisis? Would you seek Madonna's counsel about a religious or family matter?

Let it go.

Boycott and expose real evils in this world. Why do we care what *any* celebrities think? Expose those making the rules. Protest against those in power. Actors, musicians, celebrities, "stars"? They don't make laws.

Unfortunately, celebrities do have a HUGE influence on society. Whether or not it’s "right", it is true. They use their status all the time to promote a cause or belief. And look at how the masses will run over themselves to purchases this or that because they said THEY loved it or that the diet worked great for them. Why do you think manufactures use them to push their products????!!!

I tend to agree. Deeply flawed individuals are still capable of making extrodinary pieces of art. Look at Van Gogh...Picasso. Hell, even Michael Jackson and R. Kelly have made some terrific pieces of work. I guess it's just a matter of opinion whether or not you want to continue to support someone who may look at you or someone you know as less-than, in terms of holiness or goodness. Some may take deep personal offence and some may blow it off so as to just appreciate the art on its own, independent of its creator. I can understand either stance.

that is sad but...it kinda just tells me that Prince has a problem with death in general and that maybe he felt like he owed Chick something. I mean the dude had a drug problem which would explain his selling Prince gossip to the rags and gettin that cash. Wasn't there more personal stuff btwn Jill & Prince which is why he didn't contact her all those years? Im jus sayin boxed I don't think all that misfortune and ill handling of death = Prince hates gays

But what Bart is not mentioning is that Boni Boyer died about a month or so after Prince and Mayte's son in 1996. Maybe, just maybe he wasn't in the frame of mind to pull out the stops to pay tribute to a former band member after his own child died.

Again...unfortunately causes that are 'good' and people that represent 'good' don't typically get a lot of attention (at least not the positive kind) and when they do, it quickly fades. It's the negative issues that time and again get all the attention. Jesus was seen as a threat just like Martin Luther, Malcolm X, Gandhi and many other powerful positive leaders. And by the way...yes, look at what happened to Jesus....He was a martyr for all that is right and good. Whether anyone believes He is the be all and end all or not, everyone has to admit that He was the embodiment of love and wisdom.
Thank God He came here to show us "the way".

I wouldn't call it very courageous to have his people back-peddle for him after the fact. If he were truly courageous, he would have clarified that "yea, I don't believe gays should be married and YEA, I believe homosexuality is wrong.
