Discojellyfish You know, as critical as I am of Prince, I dig this one. I think it should stay an instrumental. Its goofy-funky. Reminds me of something that would rock the party on Halloween or something.

Its a cool little new age funk joint. Nothing great though. I dont want to hear the same stuff over and over. He is loving his Pro Tools now geeze.

As an instrumental, this can be excellent video game music. ![]() Very cool.... ![]() "You put water into a cup, it becomes the cup...Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend." - Bruce Lee

Reminds me that we heard an instrumental version of "There'll Never B Another 1 Like Me" - "Disco Jellyfish" is the equivalent song related to "Chocolate Box." Makes me wonder if these instrumentals are album tracks or more like b-sides? Check out The Mountains and the Sea, a Prince podcast by yours truly and my wife. Good music for a remake of Revenge of the Nerds if you ask me. But that's al'ight, I'm a Prince Nerd. ![]()

This isn't a box-o-chocolate remix really, its in the same vein for sure tho.
However, be happy that Prince is doing the right thing with Pro-Tools, because I was expecting mellow crap. He's incorporating guitar and piano in there. How long since you heard P on the piano anyway? Its the right direction. My only gripe is that it should have been another 5 minutes, was enjoying it. Catchy little mix. [Edited 1/31/09 20:43pm]

Good question. Maybe an album of instrumentals? Like the Track. Like the F'd up guitar tone and solo. Fantasy is reality in the world today. But I'll keep hangin in there, that is the only way.

Oh, how I hope he starts doing remixes and extended jams of his new songs. I miss all the extra music and long instrumentals. I like this.
Cool website. I like the feel so far and the tape deck brings back memories for me. Ya'll know our age group. [Edited 1/31/09 20:53pm]

This song is a great jam. It sounds like a fun and funky jam. I like it a lot! I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Does anyone else get an electronic Madhouse vibe from this? The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

And you have to think there are lyrics on this song...
Or is it a mixture of many sonde used on MPLSOUNDS? The greatest live performer of our times was is and always will be Prince.

I like it, but yea, it's "Chocolate Box". Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

Sort of, but if its also a bit of "Pussy Control" and "Erotic City" plus a little B-52s. The structure is also similar to Batdance.

But at least it doesn't have the shitty lyrics! The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

Like Disco Jellyfish is his answer to Rock Lobster (which he's played a lot the last couple years). We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

Exactly, (didn't know he played Rock Lobster, man has good taste) and obviously its innately better in form than B-52s. Prince is a really good natural talent. The form is tight and fun. The four note hook "synth lyric" is dark but funny. As I said, its catchy. This reminds me of when he came out with "Kiss" and freaked everybody out.
