Critical reaction at the time of release? How did the critics react to Princes early albums from 1980-1989?
They are now considered classics, but some albums back in the day were critically maligned but are now considered must-haves! Was that the case for these now classic Prince albums? Sometimes the critics(which I igged a lot)were cruel. They were hating because after listening to the ones they critisized, they just had to be. His music is and will always be great. Dirty Mind - Rave Controversy - Mixed 1999 - Great Purple Rain - Rave Around the World in a Day - Mixed Parade - America-Mostly positive (Suprising RS gave a weak review); Europe-Rave SOTT - Rave (Highest Reviews ever in annual Village Voice Critics Poll) Lovesexy - Mostly positive but a lot of people preferred the Black Album Batman - Mixed | |
