I only got 3/4 of the way through, you get the idea after the first middling minute--a boring, trite beat, with daft lyrics, repeat a few times, then fade. But to Prince's credit, I didn't hear anything that sounded like another failed attempt at retreading his 80's sound, just another sleep inducing plopper. How was anyone reminded of his long gone glory days from this adult contemporary snooze fest? Because it has a synth? You people are more desperate than Prince trying to craft a pop song.

This boring dud wouldn't even make your local supermarket's playlist.

Sadly I have to agree. The song is awful the more I listen to it the worse it gets. That 80s lick sounds dead esp with them synths, and the lyrics sound cheesy... "its tight but i think i can fit you in" wtf? lol.

He surely can't be releasing this snore fest like this, for it to be at least supermarket worthy surely hes going to remix it before release, right?

I really wanted to like this, but as others have said its a bit of a boring Take Me With U / Raspberry Beret mashup.

The last Prince song I really liked was "Black Sweat" but as I only got into him a few years ago I've been mainly digging through the 70s 80's stuff. If anyone could point me in the direction of say the 50 to 100 best P songs since 1990 would be very grateful. He's released so much it's all a bit overwhelming!

Just on the lyrical content alone this song is no different than 'American in Paris'.

Boy meets girl and hooks up and fun times ensue.

Yet 'Rock And Roll Love Affair' is consider cheesy while 'American In Paris' was treated fairly well on here.

I guess being a bootleg has it's advantages.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

The same could be said about a fan who hasn't enjoyed anything Prince has done in 17 years. What do you have to offer a fan who has enjoyed his entire career? What are you enlightening us to that we don't already know about(we have the same records as you)? What could you possibly have to say about a world you checked out of in 1995?

Interesting. Dude said Prince been boring since 1995 yet he comes here? Hmm lol

Hey, you guys are very entertaining...... eek

Unfortunately you are so right too.

This crap of a song isn't worthy to be on any playlist in any supermarket at all - or anywhere else,

better to be forgotten. -- to me, "R&R Love Affair" sounds like a really weak version of his hit song "Cream". At least "Cream" had some originality, the sound, the guitar playing. And the excellent sexy video.

I really want to like this new song, - but I can't relate to it, it just sounds awful to me..

Is this really PRINCE, making such a crap song...?

to Timmy & Honestman: I have said Prince hasn't made a great album since 1995, that's a different thing that what you are quoting..

I like a good song from Prince here and there, The Work, Musicology, Black Sweat, Future Baby Mama (to name a few)... but album wise, no - it has been so and so since he left WB in 95, very "average",

a lot of 5 or 6 out of 10- albums.... wink

The song is definetely nothing groundbreaking, but it is not a poor song. I do think it may work for radio. Europe may be an easier radio market to crack as it is much more fragmented in terms of ownership than in the US and less genre specific radio stations.

Many want new music, here it is, no obligation to like it, take it or move on to the next thing.

There you go - well said. Prince has finally put out a new song, as was requested by many of us. Whether you like it or not is a different thing, as always with new music.

Personally, I loved hearing it played for the first time on Austrian radio last evening! I don't remember when a new Prince song was last heard on radio here, so it is a good thing that they are playing "Rock and Roll Love Affair". smile

Yep!!! Seriously if we uncovered an movie of Prince dropping off the kids for two hours it'd be up for an Oscar on here as long it was made in the 80's!

Crump, what's your rush. Take your time and try to go through them and decide for yourself which ones you like. It's all very subjective what we all like, one person's trash is another's gem.

Prince is a musician not a lifestyle.

It's hard to believe Prince is releasing such a truly mediocre song with the belief that it might do anything in Europe (on the radio or otherwise). Only very biased Prince fanatics consider this an interesting song. Almost anything from Prince's 1986 production is vastly superior. P

This song sort of confirms my criticisms that Prince has become an average songwriter (with few new or original melodic or otherwise ideas these days). Still, he remains a highly impressive musician and performer - and that's probably sufficient for many (even though I think it's the songs that remain and count in the long run, not the musicianship; there are so many technically brilliant and multi-talented musicians around, whether Prince fans admit it or not). My two-cents. P

It's catchy, poppy and memorable but would have been good to have this to play in the Summer. I am looking forward to being able to buy this for my collection rather than trying to play it online.

I like most of Prince styles and think he has been well on form again following some misguided 90's raps. that said Laydown on 20Ten was the best track for me on that album and RnR Affair is very different from that. However, I do not think trying to be 'hip' will work well evertime for our stars whose big days were in the 80's (Gimme all your luvin' is embarassing).

Well done Prince.

I think it is no.68 in the German airply chart, one place below Bad remix by Michael Jackson: http://www.facebook.com/RL.promotion

Now we need a video.

There is no difference to that crap Madonna song. It's the same nonsense, but Madonne is at least still popular.

I'm switching different channel whenever I hear this RNR on radio. I know this proves I am a huge fan. Prince should be happy, I am doing him a favour, if you think about it.

Sometimes I have to, but I switch to a different channel in casethat sleazy rnb song comes on. This is his worst song ever, and i can't believe not only is it released, he's also proud to be performing this nonsense. He's looking like Elvis impersonator dressed in woman's clothes trying to fake Prince that we know. This guy gotta be the new Prince.
