also just found a statement on mcd.ie website:

It is with great disappointment that the PRINCE concert scheduled to take place at Croke Park next Monday 16th June 2008 will no longer be taking place due to reasons beyond the control of PRINCE and MCD Productions.

While plans are underway to try and reschedule the concert for 2009, no details are confirmed at this stage thus ticket holders can obtain a full ticket refund including booking fee from their Ticketmaster point of purchase from 09.00 hrs Friday 13th June 2008.

MCD & PRINCE wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused to the 55,161 patrons who purchased tickets, to Croke Park, their customers and all the individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring the show to Dublin.

I am devastated. I have just told my boyfriend and he is so angry. He bought me a gold circle for my birthday. I know he should have tried elsewhere but I was so upset that I was not in the circle that he surprised me with one that he got on eBay. So he has no chance of getting the money back. We have booked flights and arranged accommodation. I actually cried and I am a 36 year old man.
Looking for a new man. Freaks need not apply. Freeeks can tho ;-p

It is awful and at such short notice, we have all booked flights etc that we won't get money back on and although it says it will be re-scheduled next year it is gutting.
Prince owes it to us to release a statement or something to acknowledge that he is accountable for this.

This is for all of you who were going to the show:

grouphug

Wonder what the reason is if it was "out of their control"??

It did seem odd that there was only one concert for Europe. However under one weeks notice i do find quite unacceptable and with the lack of communication these days from Prince I think now is the time for him to release a statement and an apology.

Are they taking the piss? This is soo unacceptable. Seriously - unless he has lost a limb or in hospital - this is ridiculous. I guarantee it is because the concert wasnt a sell out - they still had 30K seats to fill so the other 50K+ of us don't mean shit. Honestly Prince is like the bastard boyfriend - the one who buys you flowers and woes you and is totally perfect and makes you completely fall in love with him -you're open and defenseless and then WHAT - he dumps you like a sack of shit. I am sooo sooo angry, sad, devastated.

Does he not realise what this means to us? I just started my own business this year and haven't a penny to my name - I work a 7 day week and a 14 hour day ant next monday/tuesday was going to be my first days off since jan and it was the only thing keeping me going - the big focus -the big positive thing that was gonna make it all right. HECK! I even wrote a whole freakin tribute to him for his birthday on my website. AARGH! I wanna smash things....

I agree - he has let us down big time. We are all taking time off work, paying for flights/hotels online and with no refunds and it says it might be re-scheduled next year but i don't feel like going next year now.
Prince needs to get 3121 back up and running and start communicating with people then we might have a chance of understanding where his head is at.

Fully agree - I get the ticket refund and the hotel is cancelled without fee but I had booked expensive flights. The reason should better be good or nobody will ever buy tickets again I think.

There must be some real way that we can let him know what he has done.

Bombard Paisley park with emails. I know its not actually him but it will get some attention.

..had the only standing been the Gold Circle with the Symbol Stage and the rest of the pitch seated this would have sold out, like the Billy Joel gig there last year,Prince thought he could make as much money or close to that by playing to what he played in London for 21 nights at one big fuck off gig in Dublin hes saying basically "I`m not packing up every few days and touring the world, Ill pick one place and yis can all come and see me" but as usual poor communication, organisation and Prince being dick won out again.

Sad news sad Though in the back of mind, I had a feeling that it wouldn't work out... Croke Park is huge, and with such pricy tickets I'm not surprised the show was cancelled.

That said: if you find yourself stuck with flights and hotel bookings that you can't get refunds for, I encourage you to go have a nice weekend in Dublin anyway. Dublin is a fun, lively city with lots to do, some great pubs and restaurants. And if you get bored rent a car and get out into the country for a drive.

Yeah and two of those nearly went to me last night. I'm glad I decided to think about it... just sat down to email Charlycharl to ask if she was up for Prince mission. and I saw in my inbox, an email from my friend Carol, telling me it is cancelled.

I'm so sorry everyone. Having once booked a non refundable trip from the UK to Hawaii to see a show that later got cancelled, I do know how this feels.

you can get your money back from ebay, contact the seller as they will be getting a refund from ticketmaster anyway. If they dont reply contact ebay. You wont lose out apart from the gig obviously, but money wise you should be okay. Alot of us are going to dublin, make a fun time out of it for you both and meet up with us orgers for a drink!
