Hi I am very disapointed by this as I had booked flights from Edinburgh and the hilton hotel. So I will get my ticket money back but not the rest. Surely Prince must have realised this. As for people saying we must expect this from Prince I don't see why Neil Dimond has not canceled why has Prince? I will still remain a fan and will still buy his music but will only go to a concert if it is in the area I live and I don't have any extra costs to cover. I am more sorry for me than Prince as he will never notice but I will.

I have put this on another thread but I would like to think Princes people might just read a sticky and report back about the uproar here. sad
I love u baby u know the rest.........

Are they taking the piss? This is soo unacceptable. Seriously - unless he has lost a limb or in hospital - this is ridiculous. I guarantee it is because the concert wasnt a sell out - they still had 30K seats to fill so the other 50K+ of us don't mean shit. Honestly Prince is like the bastard boyfriend - the one who buys you flowers and woes you and is totally perfect and makes you completely fall in love with him -you're open and defenseless and then WHAT - he dumps you like a sack of shit. I am sooo sooo angry, sad, devastated.

Does he not realise what this means to us? I just started my own business this year and haven't a penny to my name - I work a 7 day week and a 14 hour day ant next monday/tuesday was going to be my first days off since jan and it was the only thing keeping me going - the big focus -the big positive thing that was gonna make it all right. HECK! I even wrote a whole freakin tribute to him for his birthday on my website. AARGH! I wanna smash things....

i think the diff with other none sell outs is that the artist in question is usually over in europe anyway and the dubling gig is part of a tour

not a one off

the costs therefore are greater

Really sorry everyone but just found this statement -

http://www.crokepark.ie/p...a_id=23773

also just found a statement on mcd.ie website:

It is with great disappointment that the PRINCE concert scheduled to take place at Croke Park next Monday 16th June 2008 will no longer be taking place due to reasons beyond the control of PRINCE and MCD Productions.

While plans are underway to try and reschedule the concert for 2009, no details are confirmed at this stage thus ticket holders can obtain a full ticket refund including booking fee from their Ticketmaster point of purchase from 09.00 hrs Friday 13th June 2008.

MCD & PRINCE wish to apologise for the inconvenience caused to the 55,161 patrons who purchased tickets, to Croke Park, their customers and all the individuals who have worked tirelessly to bring the show to Dublin.

Sorry guys. This is why I would never ever ever plan to go to one of his concerts that required flight and hotel. It happens way too often. If you make a vacation out if it fine, but for one night that's a lot of money.

I don't know what you are all getting so worked up about. Sure I can understand people being upset that they lost money on flights / accommodation, but

A) Dublin is a fantastic city, come, have fun !

B) At the end of the day it's just a GIG. It's not the end of the world. I read comments like it was the event of the year, that it would make 2008 for people. I think that's some pretty crazy sh*t right there.

Everyone on here loves this guys output for lots of different reasons, but seriously folks.....it's just how it is.

I'm looking forward to hearing the real reason this date was canceled. Unbelievable that he would do this...

That said, Ireland is a truly BEAUTIFUL country and I hope those of you that made plans still go.

Devestated. There can't be any reason for him to have to leave it this late, other than weak ticket sales. but, its his own fault for trying to fill a huge stadium, with expensive tickets and shit seats, in a country nextdoor to his last tour location. It was a cock up from the start, with people not knowing where they stood in terms of gold circle A and B, and now this?!?!

I've heard stories of him cancelling gigs in the past, but to fall prey of such a thing is crippling! i mean, it's 6 days away. i, and im sure many others did too, went around gleefully yesterday, boasting about what i would be doing in a weeks time. now, i feel like i'v been stood up.

not only did i book time off work, flights and a hotel. i took time off to sit on ticketmaster at 9am and go through the ticket release farce again. its a joke.

i saw prince plenty of times in london, and im sure i would have felt quite content, but then rumours of more gigs this year cropped up, and suddenly i felt compelled to go. so to find out with less than a week to go that it's not going ahead, is wank!

It's a shame really, i've always wanted to go to Dublin, and this whole experience is just going to take a bit of magic out of the visit. Sometimes, Prince is one of those people you just hate to love.....
with love, sincerity and deepest care.....

Agreed. I was lucky to have seen him 3 times last year, because the O2 is only an hr away. I've seen too many fans stung who live overseas(not talking about Prince fans but Boy George fans who shelled out for flights and hotels). Its too much of a risk tbh.
