I dont write on here much, but feel the need today like most of you i feel let down not just for myself but for all of us and my 8 year old daughter. As this would be her fisrt time on a plane and her very first concert,The one thing i wanted most was her to see him live. We know that when he does do his shows he blows you away,i wanted her to remember it as one of her life experiences.Well now it will be about going to Dublin and having as much fun as we can while we are there.love and kisses to you all.

Why on Earth cancel now..

I hope he has a damn good reason.

Sure he cancelled quite a few of the aftershows at the O2 as well. I was at the first one he cancelled so know this pain. This is so much worse tho - that night - at least we had seen the main concert. Plus it was only 1000 left sad - this time 55 thousand - its just not on.

Anyone in Norin Irin - have a listen to radio ulster in about 15 mins - i'm gonna be on having a rant smile

Sad news sad Though in the back of mind, I had a feeling that it wouldn't work out... Croke Park is huge, and with such pricy tickets I'm not surprised the show was cancelled.

That said: if you find yourself stuck with flights and hotel bookings that you can't get refunds for, I encourage you to go have a nice weekend in Dublin anyway. Dublin is a fun, lively city with lots to do, some great pubs and restaurants. And if you get bored rent a car and get out into the country for a drive.

-----
Co-Sign I can't see why anyone would cancel their trip. Just go and have a good time.

After three years I will leave Ireland (with my wife and baby Augusto)...we are waitng the second one and we decide to see Prince as the best present to say goodbye to the country. I have never been so upset to receive money back as today (260 euro)!!! I waited so many years for this gig and now I have to wait longer...and I fell sorry for all of you guys (55.000)...take care and I hope to see you in Italy for the next gig (I really hope) so...Alexcave and family...

Just on the radio here in Ireland. It't not the poor ticket sales - with the 'special stage set up' there were only ever going to be 65000 tix on sale. It's not the licence - that was granted. So Prince, we await your answer...

BTW it was going to be my 10 year old son's and 5 year old daughter's first concert and what a performer to see at your first gig.

If he truly believes in all this JW stuff, then surely he knows that the greatest commandment is love. How are you showing love to us now Prince???

For your sake, I do hope it's an illness or bereavement, otherwise you're just a sh1t!

I always thought another gig in Europe was too good to be true.

But me and my boyfriend will still be going to Dublin so I say we organise Prince fan drinks and all the croker rejects can drown their sorrows together!

You should all do that!

When U2 were forced to cancel Hawaii, there were over a hundred fan club people all unable to get a refund for their flights and hotels. We all had a party instead and spent several days out and about together in Waikiki. It was great. Better than moping. Honestly I know it is upsetting (I whinged like a bitch for weeks) but you just have to make the best of the situation

There is a karaoke box in Dublin where you can book booths. You should get down there and do some Prince numbers together.

first things first... i'm totally gutted 4 all those who r effected by the cancellation.

i know from past experience, (blenheim palace amongst others !), how u will b feeling, but b4 we start building the gallows or burning our bootlegs, please remembr that the full story may take some time 2 emerge.

the negative publicity that this is gonna generate will cost p more than he would have got 4 selling another 10,000 tickets, so this angle doesn't add up right now.

hindsight is a great thing, but how many out there, like me, had the deafening sound of alarm bells ringing when the show was first announced?

To cancel such a large concert less than a week before is not good. What concerns me most though, given the perpetual cancellation rumours and lack of official recognition, is whether or not this concert was ever actually going to go ahead or whether we are all victims of a concert promoter taking some kind of gamble.

All in all, very disappointing indeed and a large number of fans including myself are going to be very disappointed, lost money (I have to pay a cancellation fee for flights) and wasted time and energy.

What a shame.

I had such a rubbish day at work today...then this happened!

I'm really trying to smile, but i'm finding it very difficult!

Prince hardly ever cancels gigs...from what i gather maybe 10 in his career?

But i had tickets for this, and bleheim palace...

i feel pretty unlucky right now!

Shitty week for me.....1. House sale fell through
2. Another year older (12 June)
3. No concert on 16th

My kids sports day as well on my birthday, so to cap it all I'll probably fall over in the Mum's Race & break my leg!

What i found strange from the outset was that Prince never did a press release/statement/big fanfare about this show himself like he has done in the recent last few years, i.e "21 Nights in London", "Musicology tour", "MPLS 7/7/7" etc etc.

Someone dropped the ball on this that's for sure and the recriminations will no doubt go on well into the next half hour or so.

I remember back in December 97 I went to Miami Beach, Prince was supposed to play 3 gigs @ Glam Slam club just before xmas. I had everything bought and paid for, trans-atlantic flights, tkts, hotel etc. I phoned the venue the night before the 1st gig to confirm everything was still ok and was told yes, all was fine.

Flew to Miami, arrived late at night, went to hotel, slept, up next day, walked down to Glam Slam an into the little reception/ticket office to be greeted by the phone ringing off the hook and the guy on the ticket desk say "Hello Glam Slam. Sorry the shows are cancelled." RING! RING! "Glam Slam. Yeah sorry its been cancelled".

I couldn't quite believe my ears! Naturally I was gutted and after sorting out refunds on my gig tkts, I spent the next couple hrs walking around in a confused, stunned daze.

I found myself eating something at a little cafe and got chatting to this woman who told me how she had been struck down by some awful illness. Anyway it left her half paralyzed. She seemed such a positive person after all the shit she had gone through.

After that I began to put things in a little more perspective. Yes I was disappointed that Prince had cancelled at less than 24 hrs notice but I had my health and i was in beautiful, sunny South Beach, Miami.

Sorry. I rambled on there. Hey at least you guys got 6 days notice for Dublin.
I think maybe, as others have suggested, you should go anyway, after all you've already spent the cash on flights and hotel. Enjoy Dublin. Have a few beers. Take that well earned break.

All the best guys smile
