I no longer give Neal Karlen credence. He wrote some great Rolling Stone articles back in the 1980s but his book shows that he's in fantasy land.
I dunno. Talking to many others, no one recognized NK yet he was supposedly around P for 31 years? Welcome to "the org", laytonian… come bathe with me.

. I'm really not quite sure why anyone gives him any credence, he's been a proven liar from day one. . As soon as he announced his joke of a book I told everyone I could it was a giant flaming turd, yet so many just HAD to pre-order it because their thirst for the tea was too strong.. Sad . . Hard to believe I've been on the org for over 25 years now!

I find myself repeatedly skipping forward to listen and relisten to 1000 Light Years, Same Page, 1010, Yes, and One Day We Will All B Free. The others come and go, and mostly get skipped.

I guess we’ll know tomorrow. I got the CD in the post this morning. I don't hear any clicks on that song. Then again, I didn't hear any clicks on the rip either so I'm not sure what I should be listening out for. Mind you, Stand Up And B Strong is one of 3 songs on the album that I'll never listen to again so even if there are any unusual sounds on it, it won't bother me anyway.

with this song I this Prince sound have sung the main message to make it stronger as his statement and message. Maybe that was intended and never finished that way.

FUnkyStrange, still angry you guys are gone.....anyway.
When I read the part in Karlen's book about Prince talking badly to his dad in the backseat, I stopped reading. That's family stuff that never needs to be retold, not in a book and not by a supposed friend. Karlen is a a dirty dog in my opinion, no more and no less. Dismissed.
As for his opinion on W2A not being something Prince wanted out, couldn't you say that about anything that's seen the light since his passing? We know he badly wanted some of the vault tracks on the SOTT set released but we don't know if he wanted the other stuff out....we dont' know if he cared to put out supremely fanscinating but already released takes of How Come U Don't and International Lover....this is a guy who hated to look backwards. So, what is it about W2A that Karlen finds diff? Who cares anyway...as someone wrote, his music is now the world's. It is absolutely fascinating to hear him.
Now to be fair, W2A is not the greatest thing I've ever heard but if I need to take a few 'Hot Summers' to get a few 'check the records', 'when she comes' and '1000 Light Years'....i'm good to go...always.

Finally got to hear it, and I like it more than I thought I would, glad I was wrong. 1000 Light Years is fantastic, best track on the album in my opinion. Love 1010 Rin Tin Tin, reminds me of Prince doing P Funk. One Day We Will All Be Free is great, the ending is fantastic, wish there was more of that earlier in the song. Loving this version of When She Comes, didn't mind the other, but it did nothing for me. This version is amazing to me. Those four tracks make it worth the wait and purchase.

I have to say, I think the album is good. My initial expectation gauge is as follows And my view is that there is something different about this one, 3/5 Nothing I want to skip... Just so happy it's new music from Prince, keep it coming please. The groove in the middle of check the record makes me smile 5 - another purple rain 4 - something unexpected and great, standout 3 - most the stuff from 21 century 2 - I can't deny it, not as good as I expected 1 - a UB40 or Jedward quality album. Just my view. Chappers

After listening closely to the High Res version, now I think it's part of the song. When the breaks happen, you don't hear it anymore and on several parts of the song, you can't hear it either. If it was a bad rip you'd hear it all over the track. [Edited 7/29/21 10:49am]

I like most part of the album after a second listen. I love the organic sound. I can see myself make a compilation of the best songs of Hitnrun 1 and 2, 2010 and this album.

I really like Running Game (Son of a Slave Master). I noticed it is not appreciated that much in the reviews. I like the relaxed sound and melody. [Edited 7/29/21 14:00pm]

Two Prince superfans went to Paisley Park, and it was on GMA3 today, which is Good Morning America's 3rd hour that plays at 1pm or 2pm ET. It's about 35 or 40 minutes into the show. I would imagine you can pull that up on the ABC app to stream. Sorry, it's the Hodgkin's talking.

[Edited 7/29/21 14:00pm] This one has really grown in me. It’s got a great groove and vibe, and the lyrics are interesting. I like Shelby’s relaxed approach. "That's when stars collide.
