I watched part of it. First impressions, the sound is great as is the video quality. Sometimes the video is a bit dark, especially the first part of the concert, but I guess it was like that.

The concert itself is a bit underwhelming. Songs are played with long intro's, like let's Go Crazy and Purple Rain which for me takes the energy out of the concert. And the setlist is avarage. It makes me wonder why they choose this concert. After wathcing parts I liked the last part with o.a. Play that funky music the best. Nevertheless great to watch and glad to have it!

I've bought the CD, I'm not interested in the vinyl and all the other bits. I'd like the Blu-ray though, just seems a bit ridiculous I'd have to spend so much and get lots of stuff I don't really want just to have it!

100% understand you. Frustrating it is. it should be a seperate release as welll. Maybe buy the set, make a copy or keep the blu-ray and then sell the rest.

Haven't been this impressed and blown away with a Prince album since 3121. What a great record and definitely worth the wait.

Just received/opened my deluxe edition. Haven't listened to the album or watched the bluray yet, but the package is absolutely stunning. Beautiful presentation for this album.

For those wondering, it does include a download code.

Damn sad that “the noises” are there. Gutted-Gate the sequel. The album is too good to have been lazily sourced from an old and slightly damaged CDR. Prince deserves better than that and so do we.

The clicks can be heard on Same Page different book too

Really enjoying it. Stand Up and Be Strong might be my favourite, with Same Page and One Day We Will All Be Free close behind.

There is no album after Gold Experience where I haven’t detested one or a few songs. But here, I’m kind of enjoying the whole lot. Remarkable. But at the same time, the production could be a bit edgier in places.

For decades prior to 2016 we’ve had the excitement most years of a new album, getting it, looking at the packaging, hearing it for the first time, the ritual if you have one of how and when you listen to it.

I’ve really missed that.

Whether you like, love or loathe the album, hold onto to that old skool feeling because whilst there will be lots more from the vault, this experience, of a new contemporary sounding and largely unknown fully realised album may be very few if it ever happens again.

For the first time since Prince died, I feel transported back to those moments and I’m gonna bleed that feeling dry for all it’s worth.

Don’t lose sight of that.

One good thing about this album is its relaxed
Sounds less over worked and over thought out than a lot of what he was making around this time
That's a diff side of prince that's nice to hear on an album, just him playing loosely with some good musicians.

Maybe that's credit to Mr hayes

Sound issues aside I am loving this album.

It makes we really want to hear more from the Vault from 2004 onwards.

I hope the F.U.N.K album is a reality.

Anyhow....for those that care about what I think...I gave it a couple of casual listens at work and a semi proper one when I got home and emptied the dishwasher. Later on I'll get some THC in me and do the headphone thing as is my custom.

It's...good. Not great. Not some Lost Classic like The Critics are Falling Over Themselves to be the First to Write About. If he had dropped this in 2010 or 2011, they'd give it 3 stars and wonder why he didn't play stuff that THEY liked. Now that he's dead, well...Let's all Fall in Line and Speak of his Genious. That one review that gave it one star can fuck right off with thier clickbait.

It fits right in with most of the stuff he did post Rainbow Children and IMO is within the upper tier of that stuff for the most part. It's....FINE... better than I expected and has a few gems on it but, as usual, your mileage is gonna vary depending on your taste. Hot Summer is the biggest clunker but that's OK and it's not terrible but, Jesus Christ, Prince. What's the name of this song again?

I forgot. "Hot" what now. Is it Summer? Or Hot? I can't tell. It's pretty thin.

The album kind of gains steam as it goes and I like the back end where it seems to build steam. 1010 (Rin Tin TIn) is delightfully wierd and I'm glad he included it since i think it's the most challenging track on the album. Agree with others saying they wish he'd delivered more of the vocals but unlike Plectrum Electrum, the women singing don't drag it down and are in fact quite good. Just still, for fans, it makes you wish he was singing but, again, it's all fine and there's not really anything you rush to skip, which is nice. And a little rare tbh.

Personally, Check the Record is the song and the style I'm about and always have been so, thus far, that's the one I keep hitting repeat on. He's doing some occasional tricky guitar work on this album too that comes off as fresh to my ears but real players who know more about that may find it rote or trite. Some of the guitar work took me by surprise in a good way.

One thing I sort of dig about it is that he never really did a 70's soul album and the style is consistent so every song sort of "fits". Closest thing I'd compare it to is 3121 in terms of consistency only with a different overall style (if that makes sense). There's something here for everyone I think.

This hit me the same way during my first listen. I was transported to the past and had flashes of younger versions of me doing this with numerous Prince albums over the years. It was a great ritual.

By the time his voice came on during STAND UP.... I was like 🥺
