New topic Printablei think it's great that prince has reached a point in his career where he is making opportunities to spotlight young musicians who are just starting their careers. that's super kind and generous. * the entire project seems like it was fun to do

i see your spiritual journey is doing you good because you're finally talking instead of posting those "masterpiece" banners. i don't know why you didn't talk before, as it's clear that you can post coherent and well thought out stuff

These are all produced by Hannah's husband, Josh, so don't expect a Prince production... more like someone's mixes featuring Prince's vocal tracks.

~G Arrrrggghhhh:alaCathy: I had heard the teaser already but since I didn't click the teeny tiny arrow on my teeny tiny screen I didn't see that joshuaworld bit. Bleh. I wanna paisley lark production...not no joshuabs. There goes the teeny tiny hope I had for some remixes I was looking forward too. But hey...who knows....they cud b gud. the snippets seem interesting. Not many like 'the beautiful experience'. Sexy saxophone and guitar is like a 'top ten ever' release for me. I always have this huge hope for a 'beautiful experience' type single when he sticks 'experience' in the single title...and it never happens. I never learn.

I like the song, but the video is mediocre. I'd rather see him in it instead. I will forever love and miss you...my sweet Prince.

Lawd...what's the fuss people? The video seems to live up to the lyrics of the song. The song is about morning sex, with the 'breakfast can wait' reference. It's a very, sexy video, done with taste and it lives up to the song's title reference. It is much classier and leaves more to the imagination, than Rihanna's latest video 'Pour it up', because it isn't a raunchy video, like Rihanna's vid is. The BCW vid, leaves more to the imagination because the lead dancers aren't stripped down to the bone, but-azz naked to get the message of the song's lyrics across.
Now about the poster on this thread, who brought up Prince not having many brown to dark-skinned females in many of his vids over the years, absolutely no disrespect, and I hear and respect you, but let's be for real, he has had brown to dark-skinned singers, and dancers on stage with him over the years. There has also been quite a few brown to darker-skinned females in some of his vids in the past as well. Also, Damaris Lewis has been the latest dancer for the past 2 years, during some of his tours/concerts, not sure if the poster is aware of that. Besides, regardless of some of society's, stereotypical, and often ignorant views on what determines 'beauty', brown to darker-skinned females value and worth is not determined by Prince or anyone else, it's all about how those women, including myself, value themselves and don't need to depend on societal racism, stereotypical views and ignorance to determine our self-worth/value in this world Anyway, enough about that, but I'm sure tthe poster will get my point. Although all the critics of the vid are from various age groups, it seems the vid/song lyrics are aimed at the '18 to 35 plus' demographic, not so much for the under 18. I believe Janet may have been in her early or mid 30s when she made her vid 'That's the way love goes' (?), not sure, but all-in-all I feel the BCW vid fits the song lyrics. Oh, and when Danielle was dance/walking across the table in the vid, it looked like she was sending the message of 'Look out Beyonce, there's a new dance vixen in town'. (j/k). agreed
the director seems to have taken an angle influenced on what she probably grew up seeing, Britney Spears videos, NSync, Pussy Cat dolls , etc and might not have gotten as inventive as someone who grew up listening and watching Prince might have, research is key, i think thats why some are disappointed, just wasnt the right fit.
A better angle in 2013 for a non artist appearance is to do a crowd sourced video, using the #breakfastcanwait hashtag and have the most creative instavideos , vine videos make the cut. Could have gotten a lot more interesting , gotten more pickup from non traditional outlets/blogs

I'm not one to complain about what Prince does...I mean, he's demonstrated time and time again that he does what the fuck he wants, and I respect him for it. But this video; I watched it once and I was pretty much done, in that I know i would never watch it again, and it kinda ruined the song for me, when I listen to it now all I can see is this damn video!! I put this up there with watching a Miley Cyrus vid. At least w/Prince's crazy vids in the past, they were at least attempts to parallel a song. As to the views, that ass on display is definitely gonna rack up some views, no doubt. So in that respect, it works. Maybe it's that I'm older. Yes, I look at her ass/body and think, damn I would break her back given a chance, but age has given me the wisdom to realize that's prolly not going to happen, so I'm not drawn to it!

Yes. . . 18 year olds in bondage gear is AWESOME! Not only does it suit the song PERFECTLY, it's a FABULOUS message to the world (& young people) from someone who claims to know God.
Great presentation!

While I think Prince should have been in this video, it's not that bad. And compared to Live out Loud and Screwdriver, it's fantastic. My Legacy

* Couldn't premiere the song or the video at Paisley? * If it's the video you're referring to, he should never have allowed that trash to be produced in the first place. After all, he calls the shots. He's the one that OK'd it and it's his song for God's sake.

I'm not thinking that's an issue, as the video appears to be getting picked up all over the damn place lol...besides, Prince has never been known for groundbreaking, innovative music videos--he's on record as saying he hates doing them, and it shows in many of the videos he has put out.

Ok - on the first view I was definitely underwhelmed and not inclined to return. After reading th overly harsh comments here though, decided to give it another run and was quite positively surprise. After the stylistic shock of the first view, the second viewing definitely highlights the humor of the piece. What I found disturbing first time round I now saw as satirical. It's still flawed, but I see it as light, fun and cool, not to be taken too seriously (as opposed to the horrendous Chocolate Box, say). The biggest prob I have is with the backup dancers which give it such a cliched look. They could have done something more interesting with them to increase the dream effect a la Eyes Wide Shut. Like everyone else I liked the table sequence. I think that the fact that they stay fully dressed both in the dream and kitchen sequences makes it reversely provocative, in a way, as someone pointed out. Is anyone else getting a Keanu Matrix vibe from the guy? (He also looks Really young, no?) "We've never been able to pull off a funk number"

you mean your worldstarhiphops, bossips and theybfs, concreteloops? yeah those as regular blogs someone actually serviced the video too, I'm talking about non traditional outlets that pick up videos for nonconventional reasons, Bruno Mars got an awesome pick up on Mashable, his video wasnt serviced to them. A developing artist's video was picked up on Vogue.com, wasnt serviced to them. I stated MORE pick up, the video is indeed being serviced and picked up by many blogs.
