It's not the music that's boring. It's all the stuff going on that doesn't jive with the song like hot girls, hot outfits (& bondage?) & hot dance moves. I find it distracting and not in sync with the meaning and flow of the song. The song isn't boring. It's the distractions that don't jive with the mood & the music that are boring. Like I said previously, the girls, outfits, dance moves have been done, redone & overdone.

this right here. I found myself asking myself how cool it would have been had the video mirrored the tenor of the song. Song is def babymaking material, but the vid isn't.

Honestly, is the song about someone's ass in leather pants? Or a bunch of dancers shaking their stuff with mohawks and clothed in bondage gear? How is that relevant or how does it fit the mood of the song? hmm

*

I suppose if the song was about group sex or shaking your thang at a club, it would have been appropriate. But, I wasn't under the impression that's where the song was at. shrug

*

Not every song in the universe is about someone's ass but if you turn on the TV or go to YouTube and watch, you'd think that tits & ass was all there is in the world. Heck, nowadays you can hand off the song Amazing Grace to someone to make a video and they'd find a way to get T & A into it. Sad but true.

*

I agree. Had the song and the video been in sync (and Prince would've made an appearance), it would have been fabulous. nod

I am one of the few to enjoy all of the output in the last 10 years, but I have to say, this is the poorest song and video for many years. Its about as contemporary Kenny Rogers.

This is actually one of the better videos I've seen by Prince lately, its fresh as someone pointed out earlier in this thread and the girl who is dancing is hot. Its miles better than the boring RnR, screwdriver and Fixurlifeup videos in my opinion. Of course it would've been great if Prince was in this video (instead of that Prince imitator) but I'm pleased anyway biggrin

So the verdict is pretty unanimous; More pretty girl, less new Prince music.

The way his new music sounds, I still say Prince is suffering from low T.

This song could never be a hit, even if justin timberlake sang it, it wouldnt be a hit. It is a really really poor song with no redeeming features. The fact that P went to the half arsed effort of making a video for it makes me think that they actually rate that song. The video itself is a nothing video for me, but then again, Im old and dont watch music videos much these days anyway, so what do I know about that?

I decided not to read anyone's comments before writing this.

This is Prince's best joke ever -- you just need to decide if it is musically rewarding.

Self-deprecation is often phony, but when it is honest, it can be liberating. I am glad to see that Prince is able to laugh at himself even thought the whole thing is as corny as can be.

It's meta Prince folks.

The song is boring as hell. It is Prince doing yet another "this will do" track. I wouldn't be surprised if it is a "bland funky popsong" preset on some keyboard. (Yes people, he has done that before. He has also sampled other people's music and he has appropriated other people's songs without their consent.)

If anyone thinks this is going to be big: good luck with that, and see your doctor for those ongoing delusions. The video starts off awfully: oh look, a girl cooking breakfast -- they could not even be arsed to reverse the archetypical roles. And then it turns into some lame-ass mix between an ancient Janet Jackson video with some untalented Pussycat Dolls-rejects.

And there are the references to a ten year old Dave Chappelle sketch. A real hip & fly guy, that Princey dude.

And after three minutes that stupid high-pitched voice comes in. No doubt regarded as "edgy" by plenty of famz. It isn't.

The video also looks awfully cheap. The location, the dancers, the editing, the colors... All of it is just so tacky and pedestrian. That it has a title sequence and a credit sequence is just baffling.

Oh, and let's not forget this is a song about a 50+ year old man macking on young girls. Not creepy at all. No sir.

Hey Bart, I don't mind saying you could use a certain dose of healthy self-deprecation. I don't think Prince is sitting there thinking this will be is biggest song ever -- he's having a little fun at his own expense -- you're missing the point.

Here's what the rest of the world is saying about this...because they are not looking to Prince to reinvent the music video well...Hell, this is a HUGE step from that laughable "Screwdriver" video....I think people on the Org have become conditioned to just go all Bart crazy now...Hey, it is what it is...

[Edited 10/11/13 11:39am]

Not at all. The org is often crazy and negative but this time not so. Just go on Facebook and look up the 3rdeyegirl page and see how many comments there are panning the video!

I really like the song, including the goofy voice. The video however is boring. There is a disconnect between the music and the visuals. Whatever humour or self parody there is, it is lame and out of place. And then the pretentious credits at the end...

Zzz boring. He has needed a producer for years. Also there go those clumsy teenage boy lyrics again. He simply doesn't have the ability to write or deliver lyrics any longer

He's also done this song so many times already

Prince is in a serious battle with his age and instead of embracing it he's fighting it

I love P... Had a huge influence on me and my high school and college years but, that song sucks and so does the video

Just keeping it real

Just understand if Timberlake did this song it wouldn't sound like this. It would have swing, bounce, and far better lyrical flow and delivery

I honestly think P should hire a producer. He'll if he's only comfortable with women (insert eye roll) the let Jannell Monae do a whole album

This is actually very good. It's nothing but pop music. Prince is 55, and yet he is still able to produce throwaway pop music. The video is brilliant in many ways. There are two angles from which one would view a Prince video in 2013; firstly the fans will watch it anyway, secondly the general public will be intrigued to see what he looks like now. To be so enigmatic as to hide from the video entirely keeps both sides intrigued.

Don't feed the trolls.

I finally remember to check my Roku Vevo app....so awesome . full screen HD booty wigglin'. What is unfortunate tho is I was reminded of FIXURLIFEUP. its there too...under 3rdeyegirl feat. Prince. The video is pretty...the song is good...until. Princey sings... barf those vocals r embarrassing. ..all winey and bitchy sounding...half hearted on words that seem full hearted...they don't jibe.

I mean it like FIXURLIFEUP....all cpls and shit...he's yelling at me to get my life in order....that's cool...just don't proceed to whine the whole song when it supposed to be some kind of call to arms. And motherfucker!...don't point at me like that! U little purple Yoda u ! :estoy fuiroso:

Oh...I also took the time to check the energetic nudists in the robin thick video.

Pretty girl, great dance moves BUT this does not capture the true essence of the song IMO. He should have just been in the video, he could have played with some shadows etc or worn sunglasses and had a girl in the vid with him. I agree that this was more to showcase Danielle than anything else. I'm sure she'll be his new dancer (hell she's better then Damaris) but hopefully he won't try to make her the next protegee. Overall, I expected more from the video, still LOVE the song though.

They're the construction site equivilant of a contractor. They don't do it all...they just get it all lined up to be done by others, which usually consist of a team of people they work with regularly, but by no means always work with.
