When the figures of these tours are released, you have to realize they are gross income.

By the time you have paid for the promoters, Princes diva ways, and then the good old tax man, two thirds have gone.

Then add everyday lifestyles like 100k a month pad rents, and running a multi million dollar studio for a Private whim and it dries up pretty fast.

Prince is the subject of a public shaming in Ireland -- after a judge decided to release information about the singer's recent court battle because the Purple One isn't paying the piper.

High Court Justice Peter Kelly just announced that Prince owes nearly $3 million in damages to concert promoters for bailing on a 2008 show in Dublin at the last minute.

According to Kelly, the two parties reached a settlement back in February -- but Prince hasn't paid the promoters a dime.

In a related note -- during the case, an agent who worked with Prince told the court that the singer is a royal pain in the ass to work with ... and when the agent informed Prince of the Irish problem, Prince said, "Tell the cat to chill. We will work something out."

What the purple hell? Really... where did all that money go? Did he give it all to his church or something? He's not a drug addict as far as we know..

I mean what else on earth would make him have financial issues? We know from watching him do it that Michael jackson had spending issues.. blowing like a million in 30 seconds shopping. But I never thought Prince was that extreme in his spending. And all those O2 gigs.. all those memberships.. whatever Target payed him for exclusivity on the last cd..

Unbelievable. Of course, I'm assuming he doesn't have the $2.95 million or he would have already paid it. The case seemed pretty damn open and shut to me. No way an artist lets a promoter put tickets on sale - or doesn't stop the sale once he learns about them - without there having been some sort of deal or at least a preliminary agreement.

He lives in the USA, not Ireland. Why should he care what some Irish judge says.

i find it very strange, to say the least, that Prince would allow this much of his personal business to get out like this, particularly when he is such a private person. I rather not know this information about him.

I really dont understand WHY people think Prince is swimming in money. Look at it this way. People live a certain lifestyle based on how much money they make. If you make $100,000 a year you will live that kind of lifestyle. You will save a little, you will spend alot. Thats the way it is. Prince is living a multi-million dollar a year lifestyle, and has lived that lifestyle for years, even when he wasnt making that kind of money. For every Musicology and 02 tour there were years when he made next to nothing except royalties. Who knows how many bills he had that he had to use money from those tours to pay. Private parties, house rentals, movies and music that he records that never make a profit, taxes, a studio that no one uses but has to be upkept, private planes, courtside NBA tickets, personal chefs and groundsmen, custom clothes and jewelery, managers, lawyers, bodyguards, etc etc etc ALL cost money, money that goes FAST whether you are rich or poor. Rich people stay rich because their income exceeds their spending. Do you really think Prince's does? All I can say is MJ had more money than Prince and even he was damn near broke.
