Thanks for this link.

It explains that even now, acting like a Jehovah's witness at times, he still has no ethics when it comes to paying bills promptly.

When the figures of these tours are released, you have to realize they are gross income.

By the time you have paid for the promoters, Princes diva ways, and then the good old tax man, two thirds have gone.

Then add everyday lifestyles like 100k a month pad rents, and running a multi million dollar studio for a Private whim and it dries up pretty fast.

Yep, I used 30% - 33% for Prince's take on tours - BEFORE taxes.

but lots of people know how to avoid all those taxes when you make that kind of money. Of course that means planning ahead. And we know how well that works out with Prince.

I think what the last few threads on the home page have made the majority of people who come on here with a brain realise, is that Prince is a complete arsewipe.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a fan for a long long time and musically the guy has no peers. On top of that he's provided me with many positives in my life via his music.

Ultimately though, the guy needs a good kicking.

Do you know what funds schools? Property taxes. If you're not involved in education, with kids or whatever, you might not realize the problems public education if facing. They are closing down schools everywhere right now because of low tax revenues. Just look at the situation in Detroit.

I live about 12 hours from MPLS, so I'm not sure of the issues up there, but I just know it is the same there as it is everywhere. Dear Mr. Man, pay your taxes so kids can go to school! You have become the man, so have some responsibility. I pay my taxes, so should you.

This is about the money he owes up near MPLS, in Chanhassen, of course. Who cares about the Irish and their schools. Just kidding!

I wonder if he'll actually pay it. If Prince is in the U.S., what can the Irish courts do? I wouldn't think they could freeze his assets, unless he had some assets in Ireland.

Prince may be stubborn enough to just never go to Ireland again.

I really dont understand WHY people think Prince is swimming in money. Look at it this way. People live a certain lifestyle based on how much money they make. If you make $100,000 a year you will live that kind of lifestyle. You will save a little, you will spend alot. Thats the way it is. Prince is living a multi-million dollar a year lifestyle, and has lived that lifestyle for years, even when he wasnt making that kind of money. For every Musicology and 02 tour there were years when he made next to nothing except royalties. Who knows how many bills he had that he had to use money from those tours to pay. Private parties, house rentals, movies and music that he records that never make a profit, taxes, a studio that no one uses but has to be upkept, private planes, courtside NBA tickets, personal chefs and groundsmen, custom clothes and jewelery, managers, lawyers, bodyguards, etc etc etc ALL cost money, money that goes FAST whether you are rich or poor. Rich people stay rich because their income exceeds their spending. Do you really think Prince's does? All I can say is MJ had more money than Prince and even he was damn near broke.
[Edited 3/26/10 19:15pm]

IF for some crazy reason Prince didn't have the money, I think it would be pretty easy for him to get it. According to the Irish Times, Prince was offered a total of $22 million to do SEVEN concerts across Europe (the Irish concert included). He could easily do 7 concerts in 2 weeks.

Of course he has a multi-million dollar income!! Have you not been keeping up?

How do you know MJ had more than Prince? I would doubt it to be true anyway. Last time I heard, Prince's publishing alone was worth $140million and that was about 10 years ago. Around $80million earned from Musicology. Almost $5million just to play one concert (Coachella). And we haven't even started on royalties - where the hell are you pulling this Prince doesn't have a multi-million dollar income shit from?!

You obviously can't read. Try looking at my post again. And again, MJ is documented to have been WORTH more that Prince. Now, that doesnt mean he had more liquid assets, but the his part ownership of the Beatles catalog INSTANTLY puts his worth higher than P's. NOW, people keep spitting out that 80 million dollars from Musicology. If you think P took home 80 mil you are insane! And publishing WORTH is not liquid assets. It's speculation value, something you can borrow against to get money. P is NOT pulling in 140 mil a year from publishing or royalties. If you think that you have no idea how royalties and publishing work. And last but not least, IF YOU SPEND MORE THAN YOU MAKE YOU WILL NOT HAVE MONEY!!!!! That doesn't mean P is broke, it means that if you make 1 million a year and you spend 20 million that year YOU WILL GO BROKE, EVEN if you happen to make 50 million 5 years later. Between Emancipation (1996) and Musicology (2004) how much money do you think P made off albums? Musicology was a success.....because "free" albums were counted in the tally. If the Musicology Tour, his BIGGEST IN YEARS made 80 million, how much do you think The Jam of the Year tour made? What other major tours were there between 96 and 2004? Please don't say One Nite Alone, because I dont think that tour made much either, because well Prince had pretty much fallen off the majority of the music buying public. Do you think P just threw away his lavish lifestyle while he wasnt making as much money? No, he probably did what most stars do, THEY BORROW!!! Why do you think we've heard over and over again about P being a bad payback man? Either he has the money and is an ass or he doesnt have the money and is an ass. I think the later.

Well, that's just stupid. What a dumbass, that's 2.5 million a year. He could BUY a house for that. Apparantly only a palace is good enough for him.

Ireland is part of the European Union. I would imagine he could run into trouble in any part of the EU if this got serious enough. The High Court of any country doesnt like being made a mockery of. So I doubt he would wave goodbye to one of his biggest fanbases/monetary bases for a few million. But who knows, he is a little bit crazy..

To be honest I would argue the proof that prince can afford it is the very reason he didnt play Ireland-he could afford to be indifferent to it. Also this tax thing where he owes £200,000-Ithink it must just be wilfull arrogance or bad management. Despite earning money off Lotus album last year he made nearly this much just promoting it on his 3 concert in one night thing-then again that much in Montreux, then Monte Carlo. I can't believe that he is broke. Hasnt the argument on here been that his music has been crap because he is chasing the buck-and from what i can ascertain he seems to have been quite successful at it. The tax he owes in minneapolis is on land etc-if he couldnt afford it why doesnt he just get rid-its not generating hi any cash

And you seem to have a problem putting together a cogent argument based on fact. All you've done is speculate. Show me documentation or even a link that proves MJ was worth more than Prince.....the truth is you have no idea. When figures circulated at MJ's untimely death, they showed he was broke! His massive assets (and quoting the Beatles catalogue doesn't work, because he had to relinquish ownership to Sony because of his debts!) didn't outweigh what he owed. In Net Worth, which is the only figure worth noting, I would expect that Prince probably was worth more than MJ, given MJ's debts. But, again, that's specualtion and all I said to you was that you don't know for sure.

But that hasn't stopped you giving a further speculative response that doesn't rely on evidence, just what you suppose!

So, are you still saying that Prince doesn't have a multil-million dollar income? (which, if you could read, you would realise that was my main point anyway). From what you've said in your response, you've undone yourself by proving that he DOES have a multi-million income.

Oh and, by the way, royalties and publishing is how I make my living wink What do you do? What is it they say....."know thine enemy"??!! razz
