No Wonder lotusflow£r.com took the $77 from everyone, he needs it !

As for the people who say $3 million is a drop in the ocean for Prince, it isn't, the quotes about income from touring are wildly off target, as they are normally gross takings, once he's paid tax, venues, touring staff, promoters, logistics, he won't see more than a couple of million for himself, thats why he played the O2 last time, much cheaper logistics. I've managed a tour for a small band and that cost a fortune, its amazing all the things u take for granted that add up.

On top of that are his day to day costs, he constantly has security around him, that costs a fortune, his staff/eployees at Paidley Park, houses he owns/rents all over the place, Paisley park must just eat up money, especially as its not exactly hip for recording up there, its a long time since an REM recorded there.

He's not making for a fortune from sales of his current albums or the back catalogues, his sole income is pretty much touring, and based on how he treated this promoter, the terms he gets for his next tour are not going to be favourable, would u offer insurance for Prince to play a gig ?????

And how much have the divorces cost him ??? then his legal fee's for sending all the lawyers after people on the internet who play his music in the background on home video's on youtube, and he does this all on his own, Warners aren't there picking up the cheque anymore...his last decent selling commercial album was in 1991 .....
[Edited 3/26/10 9:49am]

Sure - he has an expensive lifestyle and, yes, I also know how expensive touring can be. It is still his major source of income, but its not the sole source as your suggest. And just because some back-catalogue is out of print, the performance royalties that his massive legacy generate will be enormous. He also owns his own publishing, so there's a revenue stream there too.

People need to relax on all the speculation - all we really know is he's late on taxes and a court order.....seems all the more likely to me that he is being deliberately late to make himself more buck. He might earn $500,000 back just in delaying these amounts by a few months.

i sure hope you are right. if i were acquainted with prince, or he was a friend of mine, i'd be checking on him about now. "you okay dude?" just see if he is okay, needs help or anything.

There is also this big competition always going on about who takes the most on a tour - Jackson, then U2, Madonna, Prince etc, it used to happen when mega stars signed a new deal in the 80's/90's, the press/industry would always be looking for a bigger deal/story, so the figures would be quoted, you'd never quite know if there true or not, like the footballers wages now.

What the hell are u on about? Competetion? He got what I stated if not more. Now u wanna pull that "you cant trust whats printed" card? LMAO. Yall ar ea stone cold trip lol

All i'm saying is none of us truly know how much he made and I don't believe the figures quoted in the press, they maybe true, they may not, only Prince and his accountants will know and they aint gonna print it.

I'm not saying he's broke or going bankrupt, all i'm saying is when people say $3 million is a drop in the ocean for Prince, it isn't, people probably over estimate his wealth based on stories in the press about tour profits etc, his costs are high, so a $3million bill will hit him hard.

The money now is in the merchandising and business enterprise, you look at P Diddy and Jay Z, they haven't made their millions from album sales.

Geiger said he told Prince of the fury that the singer was causing MCD owner Denis Desmond during a rare face-to-face meeting in Los Angeles on June 3, 2008. He quoted Prince as replying, "Tell the cat to chill. We will work something out."

The killer proposal by the Irish promotor would be to invite P to play for free in return for P not having to pay the sum.

oops, i was off on the amount. it was 'only' 200,000 a month biggrin

for pics, see this thread:

http://prince.org/msg/7/302490

i must have mixed it up with the deposit he didn't reclaim,
which was 270.000 dollars.

the 3121 house costed him roughly the same each month iirc.

Just looked at the pictures. It reminds me of the Trafford centre.

Haha yes it does look like the Trafford Centre... all that's missing is a food court lol

Anything in the millions will hurt even if you're a multimillionaire. Prince can easily pay this but who wants to come up off 3 big ones. Even his property tax of 200,000+ will hurt if it's money you weren't planning on spending. Prince needs to fire his money management team and lawyers because they are obviously not looking after his expenses correctly. Prince needs to come down to earth and pay his own bills like regular people and know what's going on with his own money and then he won't have a damn thing to worry about.

Oh for goodness sake.

1) you have no idea if this current late payment is down to mismanagement or not (read the thread if you want to find out why)

2) leaving the hundreds of bills that Prince's large-scale enterprises generate to Prince would DEFINITELY cause a meltdown! When you're dealing in business this big, you get accountants to look after it. FFS - even a 10-employee company will employ a specialised, trained accountant to look after their financials.

Yeah and that's why he's got article written up in every newspaper today. Bottom line is this... Know what the hell is going on with your money.

Look at Wesley Snipes, and others. Who do you trust with your money? That's how you get ripped off and not even know it. Prince better take an accounting of his own books and not what other people tell him.

Clearly you're not grasping this.....never mind!

Do you always blame the malevolance of others on the victim? If any person, rich or not, is screwed over by unscrupulous, greedy accountants, is that their own fault?
