Ok, I'll my two cents: The thing that grabbed me about this song the first time was the KEYBOARDS!!! The guitar grabbed me too, but later on....it was the KEYBOARDS that got me first! I think "Fury" is a masterpiece. Not since TRC/ONA has a song by Prince grabbed me upon first listen like that. Seriously, I was glowing after that performance. And I was so spellbound that I didn't even pay attention to who else was in the band 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

This song is freakin' fantastic! A seriously ass kicking tune! If the album version is anywhere NEAR as good as the live version, then it will be worth the price of the disc for that track alone! I'm so willing to embrace borazon if it sits among these other tracks, all of which are great. I can't believe people are hatin on Black Sweat. BLB is not a super ballad but it's a nice song and Fury, oh forget it. Good call, I was loving the keyboards too. They are a bit 1999ish and there was a nice little splash of piano going on too about 2/3's through.

The thing I love about this performance is how into it Prince was. You could tell he was lovin slamin down on this new track. I love the look on his face after he sings will the song have a happy ending, oh with this heart in need of mending, only what's her name, only she knows, only the woman knows, only she knows....connected to that guitar. You can tell he's lovin it
I hope Prince is seeing the fan reaction here. Overall it's very positive and some of us have put him through the wringer.....good to see him back in form 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

Great song. 4/4 basic rock tune w/ a loud guitar and folx are going crazy. Hopefully this album will expose yall to some other styles of good music like Te Amo and Black Sweat. You should hear what youre missing.

Ok I have watched this video about 30 times now and I'm blown away every single time I play it. This tune (played live at least as we don't know the live version yet) is a classic and not just a Prince classic.
And what about his guitar work... ... His guitar play has just got better throughout the years and now he is simply reaching his idols' level. Il n'y a pas de sentiment plus exaltant que celui d'appartenir à une nation si diverse, si libre et si douée pour le bonheur.

When's he gonna do that Rock album some people have been clamouring for, for years?
I can leave or take the guitar wizardry and extended solos myself, but I know a lot of fans really wanna hear Prince rock out on record like he can live, without going all bombastic and camp - a lot of Prince's rock/guitar material starts out great, and then he turns it all glitzy and Vegas style portion at the end. It seems that consistently, Prince's most well crafted pop songs from the past few 'commercial comeback' albums have been guitar-pop - I think it's still the area where he can produce a really good 4 minute pop song. Stuff like Cinammon Girl, Baby Knows - They're not classics, but they've got melody and song structure.

I'm not saying Prince can't still be a great studio artist. ONA: Solo Piano & Voice and certain songs from TRC show that he can still be brilliant. But I do think he's trying to be a great pop star long after he's lost his knack for it. ----- He has never lost his knack for being a great pop star. This guy has the whole package (Performer, Songwriter and Musician) I really want to know who else is out there right now that you can compare him to. Well, I've already said that he's still a fantastic live performer. I just think he's lost his knack for writing pop songs. Prince has always been at his best when trying something new. He's obviously tried really hard to please everyone with these songs off of 3121, but the elements that make pop music work just aren't totally there. "Black Sweat" is his attempt at an addictive little pop ditty, but its' chorus is weak. "Te Amo Corazon" is his attempt at a beautiful love ballad, but it never turns into anything. "Fury" is his attempt at an adrenaline pumping rocker, but it doesn't have the hook. I just hear an old man trying to do something he isn't fit for anymore. PurpleKnight said: "Black Sweat" is his attempt at an addictive little pop ditty, but its' chorus is weak. I think 'Black Sweat' is a jab in the ribs to all the kids who listen to todays pop music - Black Sweat sounds like it's modelled on current US radio trends, but also showing the audience where this type of minimal pop-funk came from, so it sounds *a little* like Prince of old -- When I first heard it, the first thing that came into my mind besides things like 'Silicon' and 'Hot Wit' U' was 'Possessed'.... It's a decent song, but I'm just never gonna like it because I don't like US-led pop radio today, and that's what it's trying to fit into. Fury - whilst we've all seen Prince knock these tracks out before, he hasn't done a really good one in a long time, so it's a welcome return to a cracking pop song by Prince -- Not since Interactive has a Prince rock/pop song felt like this much fun.

I thought it already had a hook myself Or maybe it just sounds like the faint rememberence of one at the side of tasteless rice-crackers like 'Hot Wit' U' and 'Life O' The Party' that Prince has been putting out for years now. I really hope he releases it as a single, especially in Europe, I think a lot of those fans who fell by the way-side in the late 80s and early 90s might wonder what they've missed out on (not that Prince needs them, or should cater to them or anyone...) But I think a lot of people after hearing something like 'Fury' as a properly promoted pop single, why they'd forgotten about the little man and settled for the flacid un-erotica of Jessica Simpson or the lazy, apathetic 'thump-tap....tap' of a rapper making another tiresome drawl about how big their dick is and how much money they have got on the back of their first and only hit single.

Umm, I can appreciate loving Fury, but to ask why a song needs a hook is just plain silly. That's what makes a rock song register. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

Dont worry folks, the studio version will be great. Even if eh overproduces a little still will be good because the song is very well crafted. And we all know the guitar solos will be as good or better than the SNL version, because he has infinite takes to play over and over again. Boy pricne guitar tone is incredible these days, his tone in the 80´s relied too much on reverb and delay, was kinda spacial i n a ugly way, now he has one of the better tones i ever heard for lead guitar. Those EMGs are burning.

It has a hook. It's not in the lyrics but in the recurring guitar lick and synths. You dont "hum" rock songs. Many great Rolling Stones songs i.e Satisfaction etc dont have a hook in the lyrics, it's the recurring guitar riff. When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

So far so pleased...don't forget that record
While its a bit too cutesy on the record it is killer played live Lets hope that Prince has learned from that and hasn't dolled-up "Fury" I just burned the performance to disc and I'm going to blast that sucker all the way home over and over again One not I notice and not surprisingly that people now want to see P don a full record of this kind of music. Heck just as many of us would like to see him do a strong RB record. In any case when has he ever done either or been that consistent other than Purple Rain. I think its clear with what he has leaked that we are looking at a Jack of All Trades album. Hopefully (and I'm enthusiastic based on what I have heard thus far) he will prove to be a Master of All!!! Dance... Let me see you dance
