The guitar riffs was awesome!! woot! - Prince you da man bow

You damn right!!! I adored his performance too. He was so cool in a nonchalant sorta way. It was like he was saying to the current crop of artists, "this here is how it's done!"

I was thinking the same thing about ol Mick. I was also thinking it would have been perfect if Prince was performing at the Super Bowl with his album coming up....

Oh, back to the topic ar hand. Fury is an excellent rock/pop tune. It's the kind of song that's been missing from recent Prince albums.

Seems everyone is talking about this tune! My jaw was left on the floor after the performance of this song last night and I was checking around to see if others caught it. Sure enough on message boards of all kinds from sports forums to other music forums there were threads popping up about it. Just WOW! eyepop

I agreed! I also went to numerous message boards of all kind from saturday night live board on imdb to hip-hop boards. I even have to telling people the name of the song, explained more about Tamar, and give them link to the org for more information. And suprisingly a lot of them actually like the Tamar song even though there are mixed reviews of it on here and Hq. I think that Tamar is going to do good beside she has a really good teacher. biggrin Also people on the Saturday Night Live board thought Prince was the only who was worth watching on the unfunny ass episode. I also learned that many of the SNL are newbies and if they are unfunny (like I said didnt see the skit last night) then they need to get a new cast quick because I am hearing many people on the net thought the skit was unfunny and the cast suck.

I am predicting 3121 is going to be a big seller. I knew Prince had in him to produce some kick-ass music. Let's bring on the albums and the tour!!

I can't stop watching this. That guitar is SLAMMIN'!!!! I really wanna know who the song is about tho. hmmm

After listening to the song a few times I think its fairly clear that its about former secretary of state Madeleine Albright.

Okay of all the things said about the performance this one is the best... i don't know who u r but u are my God for saying this... its truley hilarious and caught me off-guard.

Now about the performance fury which also caught me off-guard.

i sat with my jaw open and all i could say was FUCK!

a few days ago somebody here mentioned something about chaos and disorder type songs. here fury is without over produced keyboards and lp scratching... just raw rock. It was a great choice especially since the rest of the show was a real sleeper. it makes up for the crappy "prince show" which for some reason did not have the hilarity to it...(and I thought it would have been priceless for the REAL prince to me in the mirror. and it made up for the less than stellar (yet a good song) BLB.

If New P recognition is what you want... the public loves to see him play that axe... in a rock format. here you have it...

i am very proud of our orgers NOT saying "he's been listening to Lenny Kravitz" for this whole thread. I was so sick of Pharrel, comparisions as if they predate him.

someone eluded to this sillyness earlier... that the beatles seemed to be listening to oasis. lol

lastly, let prince just go and b prince. there is simply so much material for us to consume... not all of its good.. not all bad... funny how we all want to link it to some other past era... and we all don't have to agree which era is best...

just let him be prince... so once again i can watch him wreck the promotion of this whole project. that's what makes him so fun to follow.
I may have the jelly 4 ur peanut butta but u got 31 hours and 21 minutes left.

They are talking about the show on IMDb type under "Saturday Night Live" and Google Groups "Prince Saturday Night Live"

Also I have memberships with Prince-related yahoogroups and myspace. Also on myspace.com "my friends" was chatting about how good the show with other people. I love myspace and all but damn sometimes it gets on my nerves how the pages takes so damn long to load due to other people having so much graphic on their pages. lol

I think you guys might be disappointed when you hear the studio version.

His songs always sound dramatically better live. His new ones, especially.

Remember how much better the live versions of Life 'O' the Party were compared to the studio version?

Snap

some here have heard the studio version
and they're not talking much
besides the fact that they were excited about the song
long before Prince's SNL performance the other night
but still, what can be cooler than seeing him perform it live
and knowing that a few million more people were watching it too
it was truly something to be seen
a classic moment in music television history

The Stones have always sucked live. I've seen and heard concerts (on DVD/CD) from as far back as the late 60s and they're just God-awful - the sloppiest, messiest, out-tune-singingist band there is. Anyone who has seen the footage of Ronnie Wood playing with Prince and the Lovesexy band will recall the look of bewilderment on Ronnie's face as he tries to get his head around the fact that they're all hitting the same beat at the same time. eek

But hey, they're the Stones, they wrote and recorded some of the greatest rock songs of all time and, as you say, you gotta love em.

I am SO very glad to see all this love for "Fury" -- but it's making me quite nervous at the same time. If the studio version of "Fury" isn't a VERY close approximation of the live cut, this board is going to look like Carrie's high school gym the morning after the prom. lol

Peace, David

well, the prince of old would just release the soundboard from the show. if he had some balls he would do just that, again.

and for all you, "you folks living in the past", commentors please note this aint be living in the past..just me pointing out how prince can save face once again by releasing live versions of songs (which always have much more energy) like he did for Purple Rain.

Yes! He should just do that again! There always better live! Every Prince album should have live songs!
Goodnight, sweet Prince.

That was one of the greatest performances I’ve ever seen on SNL; far superior to his Grammy performance that to this day continues to be talked about as if it were the stuff of legend. “Fury” is the stuff of legend, along with “While My Guitar Gently Weeps” at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Clapton, The Rolling Stones and Hendrix -- if he were still alive -- I suspect would all love to have “Fury” in their grand repertoire.

This is the type of song that can make a career, or reshape one. It’s that improbably good.

And if Prince should ever find himself in the presence of a Stones’ audience again, he now has the goods to keep the drunken Hells Angels from violent outbursts; unless you count demanding an encore at knifepoint violent.

Hendrix is dead?!! eek Man, I gotta start cruisin the news sites!

It's just a rumor at this point and I shouldn't have passed it off so flippantly. duh dead

So for the record, am I the only one who doesn't think the song is anywhere near the level of great?

It's good, mostly because of the guitar, but it's really just watered down Hendrix without a strong chorus.

It's the best Prince song I've heard since "Black Sweat"!

But, really, he's in rare form, so if you're really a fan you should try to enjoy it while it lasts...

But, the truth is you gett off on being negative, imho.

Another insecure rant from a Prince fan who can't accept anything but praise as a credible opinion.

I even said the song was "good" at least. I don't see how that constitutes being that negative.

Then again, you said I get off on being negative, and seeing as how you're my therapist, you would certainly know.

I think you are in the minority there. As for me, he made me more excited with that performance last night than I've been in maybe 10 years.

No, you've just done this so many times it's probably a conditioned response. By Prince's standards, it's a good song, great performance. By anyone else's standards who's releasing music today, well it's not even fair to try to compare. So, I'd like to know what's "great" in your opinion.

Even still, good or great, this is the best Prince has been in nearly 20 years, at least, and as far as commercially, it might be the best he's been since Purple Rain, but we'll soon know..
