I gotta be honest, I am not very happy about these kids being put out there like that for ratings sake. I'm all for them coming out and speaking about their dad, but on their terms and when they decide are ready. I dont think they have decided they are ready yet, rather I think the decision to do this interview has been made for them. Yes I know people are curious about them and wanna hear from them, but I think their privacy and well-being should be put FIRST before catering to the needs and demands of public curiosity. Just because the public wants to see and hear from them, doesnt mean they should be subjected to a TV interview.

I highly doubt being a part of this was their idea or wish. I'm willing to bet that they were "strongly encouraged" to be a part of this interview by a member(s) of the Jackson family because having the MJ3 be included increased the price they are being paid to do this interview. I dont have anything for or against Oprah, I dont watch her show. IMO she's just a business woman doing whatever it takes to make sure she gets the highest ratings for her last season. All she cares about are ratings, and thats the nature of showbiz. No doubt she approached the Jackson family with the idea, and she talked them into having the MJ3 be included and they negotiated the price on how much they would be paid, and Katherine and Joe willingly accepted.

I know that eventually Prince,Paris or Blanket might want to speak out publicly about their dad, but I find it hard to believe that they wanted to do this now. I think they were pushed and coerced into it...all for the almighty dollar. And that's what upsets me. I'm not sure if I want to watch this when it airs or not...

i agree with everything you said. this isn't the kids' idea. their father made them wear masks to foil the stalking paparazzi; they know that their father would never, ever give his consent to this. but what can they do? it's just like joe and katherine making them sign those belts to be auctioned off. they are exploiting these kids for money, and not one other adult - not any of mj's brothers, not any of his sisters, nieces, nephews, etc. are willing to put a stop to it. shameful.

i have never been a fan of oprah, but she's always been a tabloid queen. just because she has gotten better makeup, clothes, etc. as her show grew in popularity - due in no small part to her mj interview in 1993 - doesn't mean she's not the same ratings whore she's always been. taj is hopelessly naive if he thinks she's coming to the jacksons to set the story straight. that's what mj thought about bashir - and how wrong he was. oprah is no different. she's there to sate her purient bloodlust for mj, to offer up his kids for fodder to her audience to gawk at, just like she did with woman whose face was torn off by the chimp. she, joe and katherine are disgusting human beings.

I agree

Yes but they got their info from the New York Daily News....which is supposed to be considered a legit news source right? Of course the tabloid press has pretty much crossed over into the mainstream press now so you really have no idea what is accurate and whats not...but I think the NY Daily News is supposed to be different from say, the New York Post. confused

I think many news outlets have gotten tabloidish including even the most "respected" ones. I think the New York Times is more believeable than the Daily News. Of course the Post is tabloid central though.

NY Post is owned by Rupert Murdoch, the same man that owns Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and other numerous media outlets. So yeah...

Ok, nice to see it's not just me who is sickened at the idea of Oprah speaking to the kids. On the KOP board, 85% of the posters aren't too bothered by it.

I´d lie, if I said I wouldn´t wanna hear stories from those kids, yet I don´t agree with it. I don´t want them to get hurt and I am afraid they will. No journalist is going to be nice to them. They may be nice talking to them like Bashit was, but the question is what is going to be made of it in the media. So, yeah, I don´t like it. And I don´t like the fact that it is for Oprah. She is tabloidish no matter how "wise or philosophical" she may try to be, plus she is fake a two-faced. I´ve never felt genuineness from her.

Actually, the idea of wearing masks was Debbie Rowe's idea. She said it in an interview.

With regards to the family doing interviews - I actually worry that in an attempt to "clear Michael's name" the family are unfortunately just putting the light back on the false accusations and bringing it to the fore again.

Following Michael's death there was a lot of soul searching, and a lot of people came out saying they didn't think he was treated fairly and some very good documentaries started to come to light about the cases and what the public wasn't told at the time.

I think for the first time in a long time the focus for the majority of people was back on the music. Where it should stay.

Sadly, with their heart in the right place, the family might end up doing more harm than good to Michael's legacy - guess we have to wait and see.

and your point is what? the woman also claimed that mj kidnapped the kids and tried to get the state department to intervene. she told the s.b. prosecutors that mj was 'psychotic'. am i supposed to believe that as well because she said it? i really don't believe a word out of her mouth, but regardless of whether it was rowe's idea, if mj didn't agree to have them in the masks, they wouldn't have been in them. he was their primary caregiver, debbie wasn't.

but thank you for zoning in on the trivial, and missing the greater point i was making: mj did everything he could to protect his kids from the gaping maw of the media. one of mj's main complaints about the bashir interview was that he said there was an agreement to exclude his kids, PERIOD, and bashir's lame ass countered that he had adhered to the agreement by only showing them with the masks so therefore, he really didn't violate them.

I had a drum clinic with Jonathan SugerFoot Moffet last week and it was all based around his time with Michael. I got to talk to him for a few minutes afterwards and asked him about the rehearsals etc. He said Michael was tentative at first and was finding his feet again, but that in the lead up to his death he was in fine form, and capable of doing the shows.

I asked him what songs didn't make the cut but were rehearsed and he confirmed what we already knew - Heartbreak Hotel, Don't Stop, Rock With You, Off The Wall, Dangerous, Who Is It, Dirty Diana.

He was very complimentary and heartfelt about Michael and his professionalism. He had a lot of love for the man.

You know, I'm pretty much against the idea of This Is It 2, but I'd actually pay to see those rehearsals and especially the one for Heartbreak Hotel

It'd also be nice to see the stuff that made the movie unedited. For example; Billie Jean in the original trailer was 100% live, yet when it was shown in the movie they had edited the demo vocals in instead. This type of thing was done throughout the movie.

Michael's nephew Taj posted the following reason for why the Jacksons will speak on Oprah. Given the fact that Oprah is known as one of the most influential people in the world (I think I taste vomit in my mouth...), a lot of her followers accept her every word as if it's God's. So the reason why Katherine and Joseph are appearing on the show is because they want to teach Oprah's regular (non-MJ fan) audience the truth about him. Though I don't agree with this... Michael's name is favorable as it is with or without Oprah's help. They should just leave things alone before they make them worse and force people to ask more questions.

What was great was he played a selection of songs from the tour setlist - the backing tracks were full versions of the songs - minus the drums.

He played:

Wanna Be Startin Somethin

Jam

The Way You Make Me Feel

Billie Jean (with 10 minute drum solo at the end) He said he had always wanted to do that, but if he had in concert he would have been on the first flight home, lol.

Smooth Criminal

Scream (in sound check)

Beat It / Black or White

Sadly the sounds was so full on that the police were called and the clinic had to be cut short, but Sugarfoot was gracious enough to hold a meet and greet afterwards.

It was great to see his style and flair up close. Amazing skills.

I think they should just let Michael rest and stop trying to in a way force people perceptions of him people will believe what they want *shrugs*. Knowing me I’ll probably watch the interview to see what they talking about but they could have done without really there’s nothing else left to say imo. Just do right by his kids and that's it.

Exactly. What can they possible say that they haven't attempted to say before? Given the paren't reputation and rollercoaster marriage, are these really the right people to say anything on anyone's life? It's one thing if Janet tried to clear the air (we all know how that went down), but it's another if it's Joe Jackson. I just don't see the point. Michael has his respect now. Leave it alone. We know he had vitiligo, we know he was innocent of the allegations.... what's left to clear?

At the end of the day that’s Michael parents so you have to respect that they will know more than we ever will if you agree about how they deal with things or not *shrugs* Just people saying the same things over and over like it’s making a difference , people want to speak out now smh. Michael is gone let him rest.
