Defying convention, this song showcased funk without bass with an invigorating story of a man attempting to exorcise his personal demons, complete with devastating guitar work and guttural screams. Six of the most colorful, raw and experimental minutes of music history.

1. With 19 votes for When Doves Cry TO 15 votes for Billie Jean, there was no way in hell that Prince-fans were going to allow Michael the #1 spot on a Prince fan site. lol

2. Madonna finish at #4. I predicted tha she would be #3. I was close!

What about "Its Tricky" that was a superior single, although this was pretty amazing too, they were the definitive 80s rap group there.

It's Tricky is probably, for me, their third best single (King of Rock is Number 2 for me); but the orgers have speaked: they consider Rock Box the best old-school rap song of all time nod

clapping Nice! That is a great song by my favorite hip-hop group. I'd have to go with "Fight the Power" as the best rap single of all time, though.

Excuse you, but I rank 1999, Let's Go Crazy, & Kiss a lot higher on my own list than When Doves Cry.

And BTW right back at you, how come most orgers AND yourself didn't give no love to Batdance?!?

Even though I like Scandalous, I always thought it was a bit of a Do Me Baby 2.0; I often have that with his ballads; International Lover, Insatiable. Even Adore, but he nailed it with that one, I thought and should have left the "I croon myself though some verses and choruses and end with talking dirty"-format alone.

And the Purple Party Mix is just fun, nothing substantial, like the The Future Remix.

1. It's too bad Electric Chair didn't chart high on Billboards like it should have, IMO. nod

2. The biggest flawed with Batdance is also the biggest selling point to me; It's classic 80's dated sound.
