En Vogue to Headline Free Concert

[img:$uid]http://imgur.com/U8UHr.jpg[/img:$uid]

July 8, 2010

Press release:

R&B group En Vogue, who has won more MTV Music Awards through 2008 than any female group in MTV history, will headline the 4th Annual Global Fusion Festival on Saturday, July 17, 2010 at the Great Plaza on Philadelphia’s Penn’s Landing. Joining the group will be R&B soul crooner Lyfe Jennings.

The Free Concert, produced by the Philadelphia Multicultural Affairs Congress (MAC), will run from Noon – 8:00 pm and will also feature other national recording artists; regional and local acts representing Philadelphia’s African Diaspora, Hispanic, Caribbean, and Asian cultures.

In addition to the national headliners and ethnic dance performances, the festival will include international foods, multicultural vendors, giveaways, and educational programs for participants of all ages.

Formed in Oakland, Calif., in 1989, En Vogue has sold more than 20 million albums and singles worldwide and had a string of crossover pop hits, including "My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)", "Free Your Mind", "Hold On" and "Lies", among others.

The quartet with original members Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis, received three Soul Train Awards, two American Music Awards and seven Grammy Awards nominations in addition to the MTV Video Music Awards recognitions.

Billboard Magazine ranked En Vogue among the 20 most successful acts of the 1990s and one of the most popular female groups of all time, having spent more than 2,800 weeks on various Billboard charts.

Dawn left En Vogue because the record label gave them a shitty contract, which is nothing new. Many singers and musicians get screwed over by their record labels because of bad contracts. She's not the only one that has complained about this.

Raphael Saadiq messed up Tony Toni Tone AND Lucy Pearl. He was taking all of the money and treating the other members like trash. Dawn and the other guy(can't remember his name) bad-mouthed him for that mess. I'm sure that's why she left Lucy Pearl because she didn't want to get stabbed in the back again.

I just did the research to my own question. Damn!

What fountain of youth these ladies drink from?

I'm sorry funkpill. I would have never guessed that Cindy was

that old. She will be 49 in September according to Wikipedia but Wik can be wrong occasionally.

Three of these ladies are actually older than i am. eek

Dawn is the only one younger than i am. I always thought

i was older than all these ladies.

I can't take no more today.

She left because she was promised that it would be a one album deal and she would be able to work on her solo album...every move she made was for her own solo album...but that's ancient history now "perving the pics".....they all look great!!!!
