My list is heavy on goth and shoegaze with some synthpop thrown in at the end of the decade. That's what the 90s were to me.

Looking at everyone else's songs, I realized I probably could have included a few more Prince tracks if I had thought of them like for example "The Love We Make" or NPG's "Come On". I remember really liking those. I also overlooked a lot of R&B and hip hop because the individual songs are not strong in my mind even though I have some albums in those genres. Again, the decade was all about going out to goth clubs so the songs that got played there are the ones I remember best.

We used to frequent a few, one was THE official goth discotheque called Korsakoff and the other did not have a name, cuz it was an underground one (it moved every two months or so) but we called it Nijntje (Miffy).

Gawd, we RAWKED those places. Esp Korsakoff was fun cuz we liked to dress up flamboyantly and go wild before we went wilder at The Roxy or IT.

No, 80s goth was great! Bauhaus, The Nephilim, Alien Sex Fiend, Specimen, those are classic bands there. The 90s were when the genre became extremely derivative and a parody of itself. Shame.
