So far, we have 17 album lists in the books, with more promised from:

bboy87
Dewrede
lilgish
muse87
mushmackalenta
Riverpoet31

I'm still waiting to enter JoeTyler's list as well, once I get further info.

We only have 6 song lists so far, with another possible addition from paintsprayer.

I've added some essential albums that I somehow forgot, and I've added titles for the blocks wink
The list is now definitive.

I'm preparing a singles list, which will be much more epic and long, since many of the artists and bands of the era were one hit wonders...

I started the song list also.

I weeded through the Acclaimed Music singles list, first filtering the 90's songs, putting them in a list, then deleting all the songs that I never wanted to download after the 90's.

Now I whipping the search function over my music drive, weeding out the album per year. Search 1990>put all albums in playlist>search 1991>etc.

Then the last thing I need to do is find a Dutch Top 40 site and go through that. Songs are harder than albums, as indeed, there are a LOT of one-of's.

And while going through all this, I already know there will be a lot of Prince and related artists, as some albums were horrid as a total, but had amazing songs on it.

The first Prince album I encountered was Graffity Bridge and it shifted more songs I thought it would.

I like the album as a whole more than most, but if any song had a chance on making my top 100 it's only "Dinner With Delores". I do think "Had U" is very overlooked though. That's my second favorite song on the album.

It was actually the first song that I MEGA-clicked with on that album. Dinner I had to get used to.

Well, if we are making a list of the "best 200 singles of the 90's", I'll certainly include "Cream" and "Most Beautiful Girl in the World", but not "Had U" or "Zannalee", no matter how strong those songs are; I truly believe that a singles list should include perennial hits from the era (not necessarily Nº1 stuff) but not lesser singles, personal favorites, or virtually unknown album tracks...

Ah, but we're aren't making a list of singles, it will be a list of favorite SONGS from the 90s.

Yes. And my list is going to be PERSONAL. Me oh my.

I have a choice of 550 songs from my own collection, around 200 from a 'lists site' and this afternoon I will browse the Dutch Top 40 lists to see if there are one-hit-wonders that deserve an entry. Woohooo.

But I won't grade all these songs, I think, or I will be here until the middle next year.

What is the rule concerning this album? If I remember correctly, it was released in the U.K. in 1989, but in the states in 1990. Are U.K. orgers not allowed to include it in their lists? hmmm

This list was fun to compile, but it was weird to see the results. I used some personal criteria to place them in order; first, they had to be ALBUMS. You know, the kinda of albums you can play from start to finish. You will find albums that ended up low on this list will deliver high-ranking songs on my songs-list.

Second, they needed to have made an emotional impact. Albums that spoke to me and guided me through happy and/or sad times.

Third, I still had to play them often.

I am glad I still got most of the month to compile the songs-list, which will be harder yet...

Nice list, I like the Paris and KLF add. music

I'm going to start my 80's list early, cause that should be really hard. I really want to give that decade a nice presentation. I think that will be my favorite decade to compile, I should 200 albums and song easy.

I had fun remembering songs from the 90's though.

Thanks moonbeam.

Heavy Metal from 1990 to 1997 was quite impressive and groundbreaking; too bad everything went downhill after that; nowadays heavy metal is a joke...

By that time I will be halfway browsing the Dutch Top 40 site. 1990 brought already me 29 songs, of which I am going to list at least 20.

I mean, Ice Ice Baby is on there. As is Beverly Craven. Hehehe.

This one WILL make the cut, though;
