If in fact; your statement is true you should sign an "Affidavit of Testimony" have it notarized as witness to Prince's defense, then it would nullify legal action or settlement, as well as prove "defamation of character" to the man who is currently causing a wrongful media frenzy, regarding Prince.

Also, just becuz a person lends something does not mean full ownership....so it is unfortunate but this will change future concert avenues.

take care, me

I think some of you may have missed Genesia's post upthread (#225) since some still think this jerk got beat up:

"This man is lying. I was one of 5 people who caught the guitar. It was not handed to anyone. There was no eye contact. There was no frenzy until he initiated it. He screamed it's mine and yanked so that 2 girls let go but I had the middle and another man the top and he pulled us all down to the ground - he hurt himself and me as well in his antics. I have bruises and cuts.No one beat him. No one touched him. Just three of us with a good hold on the guitar that was tossed to a group of us within heavy security."

"I was at this show and was one table behind this guy. I actually have a picture of the guitar in the air. He caught the guitar and fell backwards as he was trying to hold onto it. Then he landed on his back hitting his left shoulder on the base of one of the tables. I did not see anyone beating on him at all, just fans holding onto the guitar. The gentleman behind him was actually trying to help him up....no fan beating took place."

I'm so disgusted with this old man(Litchfield) who lied that other fans beat him up. That makes all fans look bad like we are some savages. I hope this man goes to hell.

If Prince jumped into the crowd would the people who caught him think they could take him home?

GET PAID MAN funk the tickets get that money!!! its just a drop in the bucket to prince,he wont miss 100 grand!!!shoot2

paid for what? over the condut of the other concert goers? That would largely fall to the venue. ANd he has NO case to make that he is owed a guitar. Even if he can make the case that Prince gave it to him, he admits he gave it to the tech. So at best Prince gave it away to him and then he gave it away to the tech. And he accepted the pic, which, some might call payment for the guitar and his injuries.

the man has no case and he will lose. I doubt ANY lawyer would take the case.

The guy will have to show that: by tossing him the guitar that there was intent to either abandon the guitar or transfer ownership. Handing someone something is not assumed to be a gift.

to his injuries: unless he sought medical attention he has no case there either.

^ Right, and because he gave the guitar to the tech... even if he was able to prove that there was a transfer of ownership... it can also be proved that within 1o minutes there was ANOTHER transfer of ownership. The guy has no case against Prince. The only thing he might have a chance against is against the venue. And I'm sure there is some disclaimer of injury on your ticket that you some how agree to when you purchase the ticket to protect the venue.

I agree with the man. If an artist throws something into the crowd you should be able to keep it.

Just because you know the rules doesn't mean everybody else has to know the rules.

So if a kid ( Which Prince has invited to his concerts) caught the guitar and didn't give it up, and

was beatin down for it by psycho Prince fanatics. That's ok because he should've known the rules. (PLEASE!)

I'm a BIG Prince fan but whats right is right, and whats wrong is wrong. Prince needs to stop being cheap and give up the damn guitar. People have died at concerts from being trampled over.

He's playing with peoples lives. I didn't know you had to follow so many rules just to be entertained

at a concert. rolleyes

I could be wrong but I seem to remeber an age limit at P's concert so no children think you have to be over 21 !! no kids allowed

Is this something new? BEcause at the last US tour, an Orger posted pictures of his child (I believe a daughter ) that got on stage with Prince during the show. The child was maybe 10 - 13 years old. Elementary school age.

I assume Spin means about the age limit. There was at least one 4yo that I know of at one of the concerts last week, and I'm sure plenty more little ones.

Besides, wasn't that part of the W2A tagline? Bring your family, etc...

If there has been an age limit in the past (which I could understand), it's long gone now.

It makes me wonder why we still spend time on the weird perception of at least one individual in a place that is quite far away for most of us.

Related to this discussion:why try to hold a guitar or steal some snares or picks when you can smell his towel?

Think about that.

If not, here's some wise words:

Paul Craig Roberts:

A Government Shut-down Imperils the Power of Congress

February 27th, 2011

Congress should think twice before forcing a government shutdown as the consequences could be the loss of the power of Congress to control spending through authorization and appropriation bills. Congress permitted President George W. Bush to accumulate new powers in the executive, and these powers have passed to Obama. Bush succeeded in establishing that as a wartime commander-in-chief he had the “inherent power” to disobey the laws against torture, spying on Americans without obtaining warrants, and indefinite detention. In addition, Bush used signing statements in ways inconsistent with his oath and obligation to uphold the laws of the United States, and he took the U.S. to war based on lies, deception, and fabricated “evidence,” an offense that qualifies as treason. With these precedents, it is a simple matter for President Obama to declare that, with the U.S. at war in a world of growing instability, he has the inherent power to ignore the debt limit and to continue financing the government with the creation of new money by the Federal Reserve. Congress could try to protect its loss of the power of the purse by impeaching Obama. But how credible would it be to impeach a wartime president who is using the same “inherent power” of his office that Congress permitted the previous president to use? The powers that Bush asserted not only violated statutory law, but also set aside constitutionally guaranteed rights that are the essence of American liberty. Yet, Congress made no attempt to restrain him with impeachment. How then does Congress impeach a president who is merely using his power to keep a government at war operating? As President Bush’s acts were not deemed impeachable offenses, it seems likely that Congress has lost its power to impeach through default.

What this man really misunderstood was this occurrance was about a circle of trust between us the fans and Prince the musican/showman. We trust him not to hurt us by throwing his guitar at us and he trusts us to love it and appreciate the gesture then send it back to him. It also a great honour to be part of the show, most fans would be happy for that. Now because this one old guy did not understand that gesture we have all lost the opportunity and for that reason I feel we shoud due his ass and see how he likes it.

Being near greatness or getting to touch thier things will never make us great but we can dream - he's taken this dream from us with his stupidness and greed - what was he gonna do with this guitar, play it ? I doubt it, sell it more likely and that to me is profiting from anothers graciousness not good for the soul, or just hang it on his wall - he could afford to buy one. Think he would have been better just to give it back to the only one that knows what to do with it !!

Mr "I got hurt at a Prince concert" plllleeeeese we aint like that (except when here) you damaged yourself and now you look stupid for all to see - shame on you !!!!

It is in the USA?

But it's an educational measure, for both the victim and the crowd.

So how cna you see it as lawsuit material?

In that light: how would the snares thing be viewed upon? Theft? It's actually a service!

Really you guys? Blaming the guy that caught the guitar?

If Prince doesn't want to give his guitar away, THEN DON'T FUCKING THROW IT OUT INTO THE AUDIENCE.

Period.

You're an idiot just like the guy is. He's sharing something of his with a fan, you don't see tha when it comes to other artists, let alone Prince himself. Just cause he throws it to you, doesn't mean its yours. No one told you it was yours. In Japan, Prince had two rows of tamborines set up, at the end of the show, they were still there. Prince asked why they didn't take them home. "No one told them they it was theirs to have". Why do the Japanese have more sense when it comes to a $20 tamborine than we Americans have with a $100K guitar?? I seen the man 12+ times, even I DONT FEEL ENTITLED to take a guitar of his home because he'd throw towards me.
