Man, why can't Prince be like normal guitarists and give away picks at the end of a solo? Who thows guitars?! Eventually someone is going to miss the catch and receive a blow to the head.

lol True. I think no matter what he throws, some fans are going to fight each other for it, and still possibly cause someone to get hurt in the process. I've seen so many "tug-of-war" towel pullling, catfights and arguments between fans, when a towel gets thrown at these shows.

So there ya go we now have a new award called a The Perry Award.

This will be awarded for being a complete "wanker"

This guy has totally distracted events from what I've heard was a phenomenal concert.

Why should Prince stop doing this?...it's all part of the Rock N Roll thing. All i hope is that next time he boots the drums over on the Prawn sandwich Evian sipping brigade... lol

Here's another news clip just a bit more specific, as to where he got the bruises from once he already had the guitar in his hands, when some fans mobbed him for it. I guess he could have let it go, but held on to it.

http://kysdc.com/national...is-guitar/

An Oakland, CA man was having the time of his life at Prince’s concert in Oakland this week when the superstar threw his guitar in the crowd and it landed in his hands. Almost immediately, a crowd of fans mobbed him and beat him. The man escaped the mob with bruises, a few cuts, and the guitar, but was told by one of Prince’s stagehands to return the guitar immediately. He was given a guitar pick branded with Prince’s trademark symbol.

Apparently the man wanted to keep the guitar, and wants the guitar back…

This incident is just further proof that it's no longer like the the old NPG Music Club days when Prince made sure that it was his true die-hard fans that were in the VIP seats! Back then, if Prince gave us his guitar to hold during the show, we knew it was just temporary. However, nowadays there are casual fans that are only up front because they are fortunate enough to be able to afford the high prices, and Prince does not realize that these people do not know him like we do! If he wants to keep giving his guitar to the audience, he needs to make sure that his true fans are the ones up front again! That's all I'm saying!

This story is hilarious. Really? REALLY? How can anyone think that a guitar that is handed to you is automatically YOURS if he was just performing with it? I would never think that an instrument giving to me is mine. That's just me but wow, this story is just messy.

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

This scene reminds me of a poetry I wrote after seeing Prince in Arras..a part which Prince fortuneately made me forget
"To be a Part of Mankind,
Try to make your way out of the woumb
U are not obliged to, but nature's prior above this matter
U were into a cosy and warm space
You're being thrown away, pushed into the place
At school were U shy? naaaaaaah, wrong manner,
es, to fight, U Needed to be much stronger,
All concerns human's nature, summerised as: animal's behaviour
In this city, every individual acts as an animal
A race, a hunt, a battle field, a Jungle
Hey kiddy, didn't your grand Fa' tell U,
about what?
This is Jungle pretty
My little baby, it's hard down here, rise up, do your best
They trusted U cause you've always got 4 Az
Nothing needed to be kicked on the face
Travel from this small island to the old continent
Mom?, what will I find here?
Daughter, this is Paris,
Climb all those stairs, not Hilton, ha?
up 'til level 6, if the bucket stays full,
Then U might enjoy a warm "bath", oh, coooooooooooooooool!
Aaaargh, mommy!! it's hard to catch up with the angels, too hot in the roof,
U didn't warn us about these stairs to climb
So hard to have an access to Heaven
In this city, every individual acts as an animal
A Chase, a hunt, a battle field, a Jungle
Even to see your favorite, your singer
People want to cheat, to walk, to run all over your body
No more respect, no, fight, no lovely smile, only sharpened teeth outside
A dirty hand touches your cheek, don't let her, wake up
Cause, when it's time to get funky, U need to step far from where the witches are
All came to see Prince, u've been harassed,
before you get a square meter into this "gold" center
But not everyone came with a peaceful lovely gender
Stand tall, enjoy Prince, his Music, only
Focus on the beauty of the moment given in front.
No fight, keep calm, cool, MPLS' kid is on stage, Stay in peace
In the arms of your Angel, you'll feel no anger
Everyone's got a lucky star ..Ur turn will come soon
Scream only to sing, shout your Love with him, in harmony
This jungle won't pull me down, neither turn me mad, nor ill
No chase, no hunt, not a battle, but a Love field..
No more into a jungle, only a sweet shelter for all the people"

I went to the Thursday show and noticed Prince only used 2 guitars. The first was a custom shiny gold painted Stratocaster and of course the old trusty cheap (but now rare and worth a ton) Hohner. You can buy a re-issue here http://www.fortmadisongui...-Rain.html but it's not the same.

I wonder which guitar it was.

I've read somewhere that he actually now owns several of the original Hohners but originally bought it for only a couple hundred bucks and it matched an outfit he had.

I've seen Prince through out his guitar before at other shows, but always assumed that it was to a stagehand and not a fan. But if he where to throw one to me, I'd expect to keep it. I don't understand what's wrong with some of you people.

Valid points..but, what's the point of giving him a damn guitar pick?

Once the guitar was taken back, it should have been a wrap, but to give a damn guitar pick in its place?

A guitar pick?

The good thing about this incident is now people know that when Prince throws something out into the audience, catch it and then signal that you're gonna to throw the thing back to him. No point in holding on to it, sniffing it, rubbing it, or any other thought pertaining to what can be done to an object tossed by Prince. Hopefully, he can catch or you'll be facing some time behind bars and a lawsuit for injuring him or damaging his precious guitar.

Better yet, let someone else have that moment of catching the guitar and then someone else can get the damn guitar pick.

Here's a thought. Prince can just throw guitar picks into the audience. Obviously, he doesn't have a problem giving those away. No harm...no foul. wink

Prince use to use a Guitar Tech to catch the guitar, so no "Controversy" lol

But I remember one of them Takumi was either let go or quit from back in the day. After all this Fiasco maybe he'll go back throughing to the tech or stage hand or quit all togehter?!?!?!?!? sad

He isn't pretending to give the guitar away. He destroys it, tosses it out, and that's that. If you get hit by it, then maybe your dumb ass shouldn't be up front. You trying to tell me that as old as that guy looks, he hasn't been to a damn concert before? If Prince threw his guitar at me I would rush INTO it, grab it, and then run directly to a security guard. rofl. Not because I wanna keep his fucking guitar (no, I would rather him destroy it and throw it at me again, THIS IS THE HOHNER), but because I know how rabid other idiots in the crowd are.

I've been in mosh pits, push pits, Lady Gaga Drunk Slut pits, Prince Fans Too Sassy For Their Own Good pits, Ozzy pits where people walk out gushing blood frequently, and pits that were full of so many bitchy flamers you would think everyone was wearing corduroys. Never once have I thought to blame the acts for the behavior of some drunk ass fans.
