If men on buses would give their seat up for a lady (including senior citizens, expectant mothers) the world would be a more decent place.

Why should they?

I can see giving up your seat for preggos, elderly or disabled people...but how the hell does giving up your seat for an abled bodied female make the world a more decent place?

but there is an unseemly amount of skin showing on his face. a real man wouldn't necessarily want to flash his lip around like that neutral

let's ask the taliban

Actually, would you mind wearing the Amish outfit to start? We'll take if off eventually. But I like the mystery at the beginning. Especially if you still use vulgar language. Hot, vulgar, Amish lady. Tee-hee.

This is a very loaded question, and one which does not take into account parameters such as:

a) size of womb

b) size of bedroom

c) size of house

d) size of tower block

e) shape of environment

and given the over-arching negative philosphy of US being in the process of fucking ourselves at various rates, i give you the answer:

Please do! I think it'll really liven up this thread.

Lady A: She sleeps around, cheats on her husband, dresses like a tramp, goes to the bar and drinks to excess, burps, farts in public without even trying to hide it and uses vulgar language (I know, some have been used, but I'm trying to paint the picture of a non lady)

Lady B: Doesn't sleep around, faithful to her husband, doesn't get drunk, goes to the restroom to blow nose and fart and doesn't use vulgar language.

This is not hard stuff folks, this is elementary stuff here. We as a society have lost our common sense.

I think some of us are confusing our disapproval of the phrase "act like a lady" and the thought process behind it with not knowing what society generally means by the phrase.

Really? Are we all gonna act like this is the first time we ever heard that phrase?

I think people who have common sense know what acting like a lady is. It's sad we live in a society that encourages/applauds lewd behavior. I'm not saying I'm a saint, but I do know what right and wrong is and i do know what acting like a lady is. Some people in society feel safe and hide behind the "play dumb" card.

I can come up with several more examples of acting like a lady and not acting like a lady if you don't follow this first one i listed.

And while you're at it, please also come up with a few examples of "acting like a man" or not.

Acting Like A Man: giving up your seat for a women on the bus, helping a women with a heavy item at the grocery store, giving up your jacket at a Bronco game for a women who didn't dress appropriately, not using vulgar language around females, going to work and providing for your family

these are all examples of acting like a man.

Not acting like a Man: you can just reverse everything above, NOT giving up your seat, NOT helping a women, NOT etc......

Well I won't say that I agree with the idea behind it, I'll only say I know what is generally meant by acting like a lady. I don't agree with double standards and the phrase act like a lady presents exactly that. It tells ladies that they should sit silently and look cute, not do anything that can be construed as rude...that's behavior that only men are allowed to partake in.

Of course I've heard it. I've never known what it really meant though and never cared to find out until now.

hmmm

Know what?

It's tough for me to find a beef with these (assuming the women in these scenarios are not being patronized by these sorts of gestures). HOWEVER... real men don't do Broncos games. disbelief
