It used to. But now? No more. I actually realized I loved the songs so much I can't be turned off by the artist's personal life. So no.

Yes, Doyle Bramhall and Sheryl Crow hooking up while he was married to Susannah turned me off to their music. Maybe in time I won't feel the same way but right now I skip their ish whenever it pops up on my playlist.

I'm in the same boat with you lol. I think some artists do make it really hard though but if you like the song you like the song.

Bobby Brown's drug abuse and frequent arrests. Then again, he was/is so damned ugly so I was bound to get turned off anyway.

Chris Brown beating on Rihanna. I just couldn't see him as anything other than a woman beater but I'm over it so his music is starting to appeal to me again. Still keeping my money though.

I'd like to throw Prince under the bus but he's one of the few artists whose music embodies their lifestyle. When his music sounds whoreish its because he is really being a whore. When he sings about God its because he is having some spiritual growth spurt.

I'M NOT SAYING YOU'RE UGLY. YOU JUST HAVE BAD LUCK WHEN IT COMES TO MIRRORS AND SUNLIGHT!

Personal life doesn't matter to me, whether it's musicians or actors or athletes. All I care about is the performance.

If I cared about what musicians do off the stage, I wouldn't be such a big GNR fan lol

George Michael waving his dick in public restrooms at undercover cops pretty much ensured that I wouldn't have any further use for him after that.

Artists' personalities can prevent me from ever having interest in their music. But if I find out something bad about one of my favorite artists, no, it usually does not change my opinon.

Unless they are Nazis or something

Normally an artists personal life doesn't matter with the exception of George Michael, however, if I had the looks, talent and hits he had all at once, the LAST thing I would be doing is showing my D... to a man. There are Too many Fine looking women in this world to do something that stupid! I'm not a gay basher it's just that its so dumb. Anyway, who gives a crap as long as the music is good.

R.Kelly and the alleged video and the chiled involved pretty ended any chance of me buying his music.

MJ's having kids over was just weird and stopped what little of his stuff I was into.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I was at a time in my life when I was finally starting to embrace God again. I never did drugs or drank alcohol (thank God), but was feeling that I was losing my way after I moved out of state and got homesick, so I found my way by listening to her music ("Mountain High...Valley Low" and "Believe" CD's). It helped me so much to let her minister to my spirit and then a friend who is now my other 1/2 informed me that she didn't like Gay people. I was crushed. My spirit was crushed and my heart hurt. Here's a woman whose picture was hanging in a gold-colored frame in the center of my apartment that I paid $50.00 to have matted and the glass cut and matched it (the frame) to her gold bracelets and BAM! She doesn't like Gay people and she was quite public about her opinion too. I can listen to her now, but damned if I'll ever buy another one of her CD's ever again. You're a Christian and you judge others? Uh-uh. Sometimes when I listen to her, I still cringe, but it gets better over time. That did it for me though with a one-time idol. I don't think she's ever had a Gold album since then (2002) and if memory serves me correct, she learned that most of her fans were Gay/Lesbian. Blew THAT ONE, Yo. Sometimes you're better off keepin' the lips guarded.

Hungry? Just look in the mirror and get fed up.

I can certainly sympathise with how you feel. I just thought about Elton John and how he came out and did so in a RESPECTFULL maner and while it may have cost him the loss of a few fans he still gets the respect and acolaids of his fans and the music community unlike pervert GM

^ I was ticked when he put it out. I would've dug his later music if I didn't have a disdain for it lol I still like some of his raps, his diss to Benzino ("Nail in the Coffin") was real good.

Ever since The Eminem Show he hasn't been the same to me. Encore was horrible and I didn't even buy the ones that came after.

The moment I found out that R.Kelly once urinated on an underage girl that he once had sexual relations with, I find it impossible listening to any tracks from the 12 Play album.

True story.

No an artists personal life has no influence on my opinion of their music.

And for the idiots that care about it, it reflects more about you THEN the artist. WHO CARES what an artist a PERSON you know NOTHING about does in their personal life. Why are you judging someone you dont even know? Stick to judging things you CAN judge which is the music.
