I never did like that crap Bobby Womack pulled either. Marrying Sam Cooke's widow three months after the man was murdered. Who does something like that to a "mentor?"

I was totally gonna say NO I don't think I've judged THAT much to turn on an 'artist'. No one is perfect and I do love music. But as soon as I read this it did give me a flashback! I was sooo into Mayer before that. I also than immediately thought of how I viewed Justin Timberlake before vs after The Superbowl incident! Habitual offenders & line steppers especially like R. Kelly as well. Yeah I've KINDA turned on them...this list is short though. Chris Brown was easy b/c I was never into him anyway.

How about all the artist who we know nothing about and therefore avoid their music because we simply don't know it exists? There is a ton of great music out there that is barely being listened to. I think the fact that because the personal life of the artist was rather innocent it did not help sell their releases. The truth is Bad Publicity is Better Than No Publicity At All.

There are so many artists that I listen to that it is by chance that I ever got to hear their stuff because it is never played on the radio and they are seldom mentioned in the media. I think these controversial artists make more money then they loose by being so in the public's face with their nonsense.

Yes that's certainly strange but isnt a total turn-off to me. His brother Cecil married Sam Cooke's daughter and he definitely wasnt a model husband.

David Ruffin turned me off to his music when I read how he abuse Tami Terrell and Rick James too when he was arrested.

To me alot of these male musicians were drug and physical abusers. They were not great husbands Im sure they cheated on their wives as well as slept with underage girls. They constantly had to have their egos stroked.

When it comes to their personal lives I confess I am a hypocrite I love to read bios.

As a gay who grew up in the digital age I have a more troubling view on cruising. I don't generally disrespect people who do it, but I find it troubling that someone as gorgeous as George Michael couldn't just go out and finds a gay to hop on him in the privacy of his own home. I just look forward to the day where cruising is eliminated by the ability to just go out and meet without the need to be discreet.

That being said I didn't loose respect for George because I sympathize with him, society basically dictated that he couldn't be an out star and because of that his sexual needs has to be met through discreet and illegal means.

Nahh, that's not George's issue. George just likes the thrill of outdoor sex. Straight people do it, too. There's just more of it from teh gays cause men in general are hunting for sex and willing to do it it in public places at a higher rate than woman soooooo---cruising ain't ever going away. Welcome to the real world. lol

SOS it seems to be a chicken or egg type thing. Did G engage in a behavior that he was intuitvely drawn to, or was he drawn to a behavior because he didn't have much choice, and then he was diggin' the hell out of it? (I have never really understood the physical attraction to G myself. Like some of his older music though.) But you know, "straight" culture is imposed onto the rest of the world in tons of icky ways every minute of the day, so if G accidently eye fucks your boyfriend, big deal.

True story.

I don't get it. It's more acceptabe for a grown man to marry a 14 year old girl rather than to piss on a 14 year old girl?!?!?! Would it have been better for him to have pissed on a 14 year old girl he was married to?

And she claimed she was unhappy in both relationships. Watching her "Unsung" made me realize how really unstable she was. Sad.

Did people know back then that Ike was abusing Tina? I wonder if they knew, would that have changed record and tickets sales. I wonder if people would have come out to support him if they knew he was a woman beater.

It was a different time so who knows! I hate to accuse but we all know he did it! I also believe in redemption. But not only was he a mess in his past but even later on in life he said things that disturbed me and could be violent. So its like did this guy have any redeeming qualities?!

wave Idiot here.

If I think you are a scumbag motherfucker such as a Roman Polanski or a Chris Brown, there is no way in hell I am giving you my money. Do anything illegal and it's pretty much: fuck you.

What musicians and artists do in their personal lives really doesn't phase me beyond that. I don't buy most recent hip hop because I find a lot of it misogynist. But like Timmy said, I move on to something else.

I think this is part of it. It is not like there is nothing else out there and your life would be ruined if you crossed someone off your list. Every day, since I have been on youtube, I find an artist that I either never heard about or just never got into. There is so much music I have never heard I don't need to keep giving my $ and time to the same fool.

Yeah, that's right messed up! I guess that's the entertainment world for you...finding out your sh** in the tabs! Funny that they didn't recognize him...but still, why would he go out in public like that? Crow started acting kinda trampy (seems to me) after Lance Armstrong dumped her. Oh well...

I was a bit turned off by R.Kelly and the underage pee fetish too. I was never really a fan (I saw him in concert once but it was one of those multi-act shows, and I wasn't there to see him)...and I never bought one of his cds...but I did like his song "Step In The Name of Love", and found myself feeling kinda queasy whenever I heard it after the whole 'watersports with young girls' scandal.

I was turned off with R.Kelly too cause I really liked his singles for years, and it was hard not to joke about him and be an asshole when he came up, even though he kept putting out nice singles....and I was upset people were giving others a hard time and not him as much when HE WAS ON VIDEO! He still shouldn't have done it, but then I heard about Sparkle's niece and the tape not having a date on it, and his ass better not be lying about not knowing her age, maybe he's trying to play innocent, maybe not. So if they say not guilty, I go by that and maybe it was a mess, but I don't understand what happened when child porn was found at his place , didn't that come into court?

I was never into him at all but after hearing about what he was doing, that made it easier for me to diss him as a joke in the music industry. He shouldn't even be mentioned in the often short but talented list of glam rock legends. He's not worth it to tie David Bowie's or Marc Bolan's platinum platform boots. neutral
