We havent had a brilliant Prince album in a while. This is the man's finest hour. What an invigorating and cathartic experience listening to this is.

"Dorothy Parker" with horns is real interesting. Some sections seem improved, though I do think Prince made the right call to nix a lot of that stuff. I wonder if the ideal would be somewhere in between. Think I'm gonna play around with the classic version and this and see if I can't make a cool edit of them mixed together!

I think Power Fantastic is a different vocal take.

On the SoTT SDE version he tells Eric to "keep soling" during his flute solo, then asks for a change of chords at the end. His vocal says ... "your a little apprehansive ...", and says "ending" to close.

On the boot version, there are no directions given, he says "your a wee bit apprehensive", and there are no "ending directions"

To me the music sounds the same though.

I think the SoTT version is the first version, and the boot could be a rerecording of the vocals

The version from B-Sides is the edit of the boot version, as the lyrics say "wee bit apprehensive"

I love, love, love this release. It was already my favorite album (by any artist) but this takes it to a whole new level.

For now, I'm only able to listen on Spotify. Can't swing the $150 for CDs (or even $80 for iTunes) but I have Spotify Premium for the time being.

1. First impressions of the Vault stuff . . . Sound quality is great!
2. So much cool stuff but I am disappointed they left off Good Love, the full Crystal Ball and original Crucial. I have those elsewhere, oh well.
3. This is a big one that is hovering over this release for me . . . the amount of Revolution input (Wendy and Lisa's vocals on several songs, Lisa's Visions composition, etc.) it feels a bit like revisionist history. I know the history of how this project evolved, but this new set makes it feel like it's being rebranded as a Revolution album.
4. Having said that, it feels like some of these tracks belong on Parade Deluxe.

"In a Large Room With No Light," might be the prettiest song Prince ever did.

1:05-1:20 of "Can I Play With U" recall the chorus to "F.U.N.K.".

LOVE Dorothy Parker and LOVE this new ending, but the horns clutter up the song.

On the first few listens I thought the horns just didn't fit. Now I'm starting to like them more with each listen. I still think the song is better without.

sound like the complete known recording is mixed way to te back.

Or am I the only one hearing this?

Its hard to concertrate on the actual known song and what is happening there.

Would've loved a mix with the horns more put deeper in the mix on both channels,

and keep the known song right in the middle, instead of a prominent role.

Yeah, I think the horns are just too forward in the mix. If they were more subtle, that would make a helluva difference.

Yeah but that's on Prince, there was nothing to do about it. I mean we can't complain that what Prince left is what it is. I mean we can, but there's no point. But I agree: it's a very odd mix, at first I was convinced it was a Bolas recreation (same with Blanche BTW).
