There's not a post anyone can write that's immune from his criticism that he won't pounce on .
^^^Who doesn't LOVE that?^^^
Not sure what's wrong with him either, tbh, but yeah....He's a lot of fun. A real hoot.

Whatever the fuck you do, don't post anything that might already be on the board somewhere. It's a sin against The Internet Gods and you will suffer his wrath.
We call him "Bart" and he's just fucking rude to everybody. It's real great. Adds a TON to the discourse. For some reason, I guess Mods here find him useful and cute instead of the prick he always is, and tend to excuse him since (I can only assume) he often posts new links here for an artist he hasn't liked since apparently sometime around maybe 1988. He doesn't even really seem to LIKE Prince that much but he positively LOVES pointing out people's mistakes (seems to LIVE for it) and, near as I can tell, we keep him around like Sesame Street keeps Oscar the Grouch in a trashcan.
Thankfully, as far as I know, I never bumped into him at a show - or anywhere else for that matter -because I mean god damn.
Don't worry about that dude and just ignore him since this is All He Fucking Does Here.
Lot's of other perfectly nice and polite people here though.

Wendy said something in this episode that I found curious. She'd said it before in an earlier episode and I glossed over it, but she's brought it up twice now.
She'd mentioned Roadhouse Garden as an example of a project they were working on. When she mentioned it before I assumed she was just talking about the song, but she's only ever listened it in the context of album titles. Roadhouse Garden, Dream Factory, Crystal Ball. What does she mean by this?
I know Prince had an album in mind at the end of the 90s, but I assumed this would have just be a compilation of unused Revolution songs. Do you think the Roadhouse Garden album could have been a concept Prince was knocking around back in the mid 80s?
My guess, and it is a guess, is that she's just going with the flow. Her and Lisa have said before that they never really had any idea what was happening in regards planning albums, there was nothing called "Dream Factory" that they knew of, they just knew they were writing songs for the next Prince & the Revolution album. Since at least the early 90s people have been telling them the names of projects and tracklists and the like and I imagine at this point Wendy is just retroactively filling in the names of albums and projects she now knows Prince had in mind, or people have told her Prince had in mind.

I took from the podcast, that Rebirth of the Flesh was written directly after the break up and was a dig at Wendy and Lisa for asking for more money and not respecting that he was why people bought the records and tickets for the shows.
Not sure where you got the idea that he felt disrespected by them but he certainly had a habit writing songs when people quit or were fired, Morris (Pop Life), Jam & Lewis (Old Friends 4 Sale), Paul Peterson (Dream Factory) so it makes sense, he was returning to the hyper sexy stuff (the flesh) that they had no part to play in. |

This was a much better Pod cast than #3 with the professor of non-sense talking stupid unrelated and irrelvant crap. Not sure we learned anything new here though. Theses stories have been told a thousand times regarding the Revolution breakup. |

The Revolution certainly gets a lot of attention in these podcasts ...
Actually, the podcasts are about them, and you get the feeling that the Sign O The Times live band was merely a disturbance - an accident that happened to them.
I miss the days when their tendency to self-aggrandaziment was nipped in the bud by the threat of lawsuits ...
The SOTT times band had nothing to do with the album. The Revolution did. The SOTT bands played the songs live, they didn't help write them and they didn't help record them. If you think the members of the Revolution are lying about their contributions then you're a fooligan.
Their so-called self-aggrandizment wasn't nipped in the bud for fear of a lawsuit, they signed NDAs so they wouldn't shatter the "Prince is all-good, all-knowing, and did it all by himself" myth that people like you have fallen for over the years. Prince is amazing. So were his collaborators. Get over it. |

I continue to enjoy this series. It would be great to hear from Miko and Sheila E, perhaps they were approached and were unavailable? Only history will tell.

I appreciate I may be in a minority, but I really enjoy hearing The Revolution speak, Eric too. The story is an old one, now, but it's still part and parcel of 86/87 Prince.

Can't wait for next week's episode. |

No. Not this. The album was made in the shadow of both a personal and professional break up for Prince. The fact that people (mostly men) want to undermine the influence of the women involved here tells me a lot about them. I disagree. It's more the fact that there's barely anything in here about the actual music. Just the revolution drama that we've all heard over and over. It's not THAT interesting. At the end of the day Prince hired them, got tired of them (wanted a new direction), and fired them. It's not news that he was an asshole. It's prince. The way the stories are set up feels almost like we're supposed to feel sorry for them. When we have no reason to. Don't mind hearing from Wendy and Lisa, but less drama more funk please. Cuz if we're going in chronological order it's almost 1987, crystal ball been recorded and there's been very little said about what his vision was, what kind of sound he was trying to craft, and more detail on maybe why they didn't fit that new sound and image based on what PRINCE, not wendy and lisa, were doing in the studio. That's what i'm interested in, his mindset behind this next direction. Because i'm sure it had more to do with just being cheesed that they asked him for a raise. |

I do not get the anger. We know he did songs other people wrote (or at least co-wrote) and did not always give proper credit. Even by 87 there were songs that he may have taken a little more than he should have and did not give credit. So what? "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

We're on thread #4 and all of them have managed to surpass 5 or 10 pages of complaining, as far as I'm aware.
I'm not even questioning or upset with the Wendy and Lisa detractors, but the tenacity and commitment to this very important issue is just something else. |
