You may need to reread what I said because you're definitely not clear on that. What I said was pretty succinct.

No, it’s VERY clear what your intention is: Miko is to believed (despite just his word). W & L are to be doubted (despite evidence). Don’t try to weasel out of this, your implication is very clear. But why? That’s the real question.

I don't have to weasel out of plain English. But maybe you're doubting my words because I'm a woman. I wonder why?

No, it’s not good enough just to ‘say’ you were clear. You. Have. To. Back. It. Up. Which, after two responses, you obviously can’t do. Let’s just leave it, ok? You lose. I win. As for your inexpensive point about gender? That was rushed, dude. Of course, I have no idea what your sex is.

Isn't the point of the podcast to act as a marketing tool for the SOTT SD - and so takes its lead from the tracklisting of the SD edition - which contains loads of Revolution tracks (and in fact is kind of a "SOTT with a bit of late Parade SD"). Which is why the contributors are who they are and we're only just now hearing from (eg) Levi?

I guess they could have called the pod "Prince: The Story of Some of the Songs Which Are Included on the Sign O' The Times Super Deluxe Edition" to make it a bit clearer.

Again. 4 episodes in and majority of the podcasts have not only been about outtakes (which yes some include them) but they have yet to discuss his solo work which is also the other half of the released album

something i don't think has been pointed out, but something i found very interesting...

at the bit where they're playing purple rain, which i'm assuming is the one they were talking about from the final revolution show, the audio quality is like... really bad. what does this imply? this podcast was done with the cooperation of the estate, so you'd think they'd be able to source proper recordings of the material they want to talk about. do they not have these shows? surely they were recorded. or, if this is the best the estate could offer, is this the standard that most of these shows were recorded at? sounds like an ok audience recording, nothing better.

food for thought.

Maybe Wendy & Lisa shouldn’t have asked for that raise...
jk

But what would the rest of Prince’s career be if he continued The Revolution forever?? They did their thing and Prince wanted to keep going on HIS journey. And he did. The Sign/Lovesexy bands were great and fun for him as he was clearly happy. And the New Power Generation and the ever changing of the lineup was the standard to Prince and his live shows for years to come. It had to happen.

In my personal opinion, I feel Prince was a bit sad and mad that he had to disband the Revolution (with smashing the cloud guitar at their last Parade show) but he knew he HAD TO in order to go off into new things; and that made him happy

One thing I noticed about the chat regarding the last Revolution show. Wendy's recollection is almost completely different here from the interview the Revolution did when they reunited after Prince's death. Notably, she attributes the "It's over" statement to Bobby here whereas she said on the couch that this is what she said to Lisa.

What I'm thinking is Jesus Christ how did you have a full on conversation with the drummer and pianist who are fairly removed from your position on stage? All that and the bag of chips were mouthed to people? Imagine what kind of sight that must have apparently been: Wendy just so gobsmacked she turns around to have full nonverbal conversations with the band nestled behind their rigs. Poor gal. Lol.

All I did was advance a simple point. A point still unaswered by the moaning minority on these threads. They say (repeatedly) that the W & L influence on this record is overblown. I say it isn't, which the record shows. Their response? Check out a guy called Miko. He says he was there instead. It's laughable really.

luv4u, those are the rules:

  • Be civilized
Don't create offensive, vulgar, obscene, threatening, abusive or excessively profane posts. Do not instigate, engage in, or encourage 'flame wars'. If you insult someone "jokingly", be prepared to have it not interpreted that way by the Moderators. A good general rule: "criticize ideas, not people." Any language which encourages conduct that would constitute a criminal offense is grounds for immediate account deletion.

Or you begin to apply the rules for Bart or please add a rule in prince.org about the free trolling for BartVanHemelen.

i don't want to go too far into friendly-ville here, but i am all for pointing out the inconsistent moderation when it comes to bart.

if i were mod i'd send him an official "chill out, man" warning and if he keeps doing his thing, a two week ban. his overreactions make me laugh when they're just here and there, but on the threads where he posts like 6 times in a row trashing on people is when it becomes obnoxious.

i think the forum needs to keep a little bit of its edge, but lose a good amount of it too.

Edge is one thing. This dude has just gotten away with being mean spirited for a good 20+ years in this community. Rather than have people like this run unchecked and scare away other contributors whilst the community is kind of limping along, he needs to be put in his place. Why is it okay to abuse fellow users but the second you clap back at a mod, shit gets real?

I've been slapped with like 3 2 week time outs in 2020 alone due to a different mod who, though skating by with little attention during Guttedgate, is just as bad with the wonky ass moderating as Casey is.

Also, very excited to remind myself that SoTT Deluxe will be here shortly and ALSO learning that the DVD is NEW. I thought it was just another copy of the movie so yay, me.

45 new songs, a concert I've neer seen and a remaster. Fuck yeah.

Finally, something coming in my mailbox soon that's not Bad News.

I took from the podcast, that Rebirth of the Flesh was written directly after the break up and was a dig at Wendy and Lisa for asking for more money and not respecting that he was why people bought the records and tickets for the shows.

The podcast went out of their way to credit that song to WL. Putting aside whether the podcast misrepresented that Prince had nothing to do with writing the song, that effort to continue to highlight their contribution rather than to highlight Prince’s genius is the problem with this series. There is an agenda and they are all in on it because many of you eat it up. Let’s pray Ezra does not make the same mistake in the netflix documentary. [Edited 9/17/20 5:42am] [Edited 9/17/20 5:47am]

People are still under the impression Ezra Edelman is doing the doc? Yeah, that's not happening.
