Prince and stage fright? Yeah, right. Hey loudmouth, shut the fuck up, right?

....I started reading here when I heard of his passing. I always liked his music from the first time I heard him in the late 70's. We are the same age. My daughter suffers from the same addiction, and for whatever reason...this fact also drew me here. Addiction is a horrible disease, and I hope that at some point the shame factor will be removed from the diagnosis. No person in this world WANTS to be dependent/addicted to any substance. It just happens and believe me when I say there is NOTHING any friend, associate or loved one can do. Especially when the person is headstrong as I am sure Prince was. I had to watch my child suffer while I stood by helplessly, all I could do was hit my knees in prayer. No one has said that Prince contacted the place in Cali. His lawyer did. They were staging an intervention and there was no guarantee he would have gone. I would bet that the Dr. that was trying to help him had also tried to get him to get into detox/rehab too. There is no blame to place on anyone for not staying with him, or making him do anything. Even the police couldn't have 'made' him go anywhere. It was his choice, and that is so sad to know, can you imagine how those closest to him feel? I can tell you...they feel guilt, so I won't heap any more on them. He was a beautiful child of God, and his gifts were many and he shared them with us all, and who knows...at the end of the day, maybe it WAS his time to go, however difficult that is to bear. I have a feeling he has been using these drugs for alot longer than we thought, and the ME said they were not prescriptions so he was probably buying them illegally in the powdered form, making overdose more likely. It's just so sad I hope this is readable, I am crying for him, for his family, for all of you. I know his soul is at rest and he now has true peace and that is comforting.

He took pain meds, thats why no one "saw the pain". And he wasn't around people "all the time". He lived in his estate, privately, we all know that, or rather, thats why we know nothing. And most of the time he was around "many many many" people was his performances, for which he needed to take the meds. Exactly! RIP Prince. We will NEVER forget you. Thank you so much.

you're missing my whole point, people aren't perfect, if there is more, someone will talk. either family, either medical personel. Prince is too popular for a coverrup. How do I know this? Elvis' autopsy was sealed by his father, so what happens? the truth comes out anyway, just about everyone connected with the situation spoke about it eventually. Bruce Lee had two physicians come out years later and state that Bruce had an allergic reaction to cannibis, not the "official" cause of death which was an allergic reaction to equagesic. Truth will come out whether you like it or not.

Speaking from experience, chronic pain is a serious condition. Just because society hasn't caught up to that fact yet doesn't make it any less true. And to be completely honest, this problem wouldn't have gone away for Prince. If he'd survived this episode, it was a battle he'd likely have had to fight his entire life, whether it's trying to find safe treatments, trying to keep your spirits up enough to not jump off a bridge when the pain flares up, hell, trying to find a comfortable position while standing onstage with a guitar, or at a piano (I noticed that his piano bench for this tour looked very padded and comfortable) or sitting on an airplane. The limitations a pain disorder can cause to the things you love to do are really heartbreaking, and going forward all we can do is try to find REAL solutions to chronic pain as opposed to shit that makes money for the pharmaceutical industry. (While also accepting that we can't just ban opioids without a replacement treatment for pain, otherwise you'll have pain patients flat-out killing themselves.) . And, of course, for those so inclined we can devote ourselves to the causes that Prince held near and dear, such as music education, narrowing the achievement gap, ending animal cruelty, and a whole host of other things. We have an opportunity to carry his torch forward; let's do that. I just want to take a minute to thank u for this. As as chronic pain patient I couldn't have said it better. I'm only 41 years old who had my whole life ripped away. It's forever altered. My whole life is consumed by the pain and trying to manage it with Dr appointments and surgeries and drug screens and being poked at like I'm some addict because there is no other option for my back pain. I'd give anything to have a non drug option. Everytime I grow tolerant to one dose I cry and become terrified the next dose will take my life. But what choice do I have? End my life? Trust me; I've thought about it. Please everyone do what u can to help educate and fight for other options for us and in his memory. Gotta go I'm hysterical bow can't see the stupid keys. Love u all. Prince I'm glad u no longer are suffering we love u.

also, him being a jehovah's witness, surgery may not have been an option for him. I really, really have to question this! Because my cousin had hip replacement surgery and she did NOT need a blood transfusion! Whoever was telling Prince that he couldn't have the surgery was just plain wrong! No one was telling Prince he couldn't have surgery. People are speculating without checking the facts. I personally know at least one jw who's had a hip replacement. Another who's just had heart surgery. Without the use of blood. Go to www.jw.org for accurate information. If he chose not to have the procedure done, it could be for so many reasons. Religion is not one of them. I have had orthopaedic surgery and would definitely need very good arguments for doing it again. And it was even a success. People tend to believe that it is just a quick and easy fix. Not so.

Yeah, saw that CNN comment: "The full autopsy and toxicology reports will not be released" In the same article, they also stated: "Fentanyl, prescribed by doctors for cancer treatment"
So who knows...we'll probably never know the real truth...the reality of the situation, as painful as it is for everyone here, is that he is no longer here in the same 'human' form that we were used to...

I dreamt I'd taken a friend to a 3rdeyegirl show the other night, and when I woke up I thought about how I'd make sure we'd go see him the next time he was in the UK. About an hour later I was walking down the street when I remembered. It was a horrible feeling. Hundalasiliah!

I have a headache from the crying. I'm still stuck on why fentanyl? It's just all so odd. There's a missing piece and it's in the full autopsy/toxicology. I'm sure the family knows which hopefully provides some closure for them. I'm starting to cry again Oh for the love of God.... why Fentanyl? BECAUSE HE WAS TRYING TO MANAGE CHRONIC PAIN!! it's not odd at all. hell, several orgers have already written in this thread that they were prescribed Fentanyl for a variety of pain management from a torn spleen to carpal tunnel.

Sadly, and I hope I'm wrong, but I have a feeling his siblings will sing for the right amount of money. It seems they are all adults being supported by Prince, to the point that George Lopez had to give them money to buy groceries and pay bills because Prince's estate was tied up. Prince was a gem, and his siblings were lucky to have had him. I wonder if not having a Will was deliberate. Maybe he decided to not do that for them too, to let them figure it out on their own. Hope that doesn't sound too harsh, but it blows my mind that these adults had to borrow money to live on.

I fully agree with you both and what 'JustErin' mentioned, but the only thing that bothers me in this case, is how on earth is it possible that someone can get his hands on these kind of medicines? Any kind of person, not just Prince? Maybe that answer will come when the complete investigation is finished. Produced, Arranged, Composed & Performed by PRINCE

This has created more questions than answers, unfortunately, and it makes me very very sad to hear even what the poor guy was wearing when he died. It seems so bloody intrusive - but I know it's a legal document. . I'm still immersing myself in videos and his music, when he was alive and happily being the genius we all know he was. . I understand the speculation regarding the cancer drug prescription, but Keith Moon was doing horse tranquilisers and he was no horse. This news today has brought me right back down again. . Without being too overdramatic, I'm honestly relieved Prince is now out of the pain he was clearly in. Very very sad day again today.

For all you know, they may never speak about anything at any time, on any given day, so this needs to stop, because all we may ever know is the basic information. Erin Smith

Prince and stage fright? Yeah, right. Yeah, but... Imagine Prince talking to a dealer. He's not going to admit to having "old man" hip problems... Dealer: So what are you taking these for? Prince: [Dramatic pause] Stage fright. Prince does "the Prince stare" for a second, grabs the drugs, and then walks to his limo. Then again, we know nothing.

I don't believe he had such bad stage fright he needed to sedate himself to the point he saw unicorns. It just doesn't wash. [Edited 6/2/16 14:52pm] Baby, you're a star.

I know, I wanted to learn what could have caused his death and the reason for the overdose, but to release the paper itself describing his final state of dress and the scars on his poor body, makes me cry even more, I don't know why. It just is so intrusive. I know this is part of an autopsy, but to give this info and not the state of health seems so unimportant and somehow obscene. admission is easy, just say U believe, then come 2 this place in your heart.

you think this was intrusive you should go read michael jackson and whitney houstons autopsy's, they even said Michael had functioning testicles. Whitney had a hole in her nose and false teeth.
