According to CNN the full autopsy and toxicology report will not be released the medical office said. You have got to be kidding.

And why won't it be released, what are they trying to hide! With them being so secretive, they are only feeding the specuations and the media. What's so bad that it can't be revealed???

I really don't get this cancer theory that's going around. I just don't get it. Everything we've heard so far lines up with an addicition to painkillers brought on by hip pain. It sounds like Prince was trying to ween himself off of percocet and suffered extreme withdrawal symptoms (flu like symptoms, weight loss, erratic behavior), he probably started using the pain killers again to relieve the withdrawals symptoms and took a dosage that he body was no longer used to. That explains the first over dose on the plane and the second one that ultimately killed him. His staff was worried about that he was spiraling out of control and arranged an intervention with the doctor's son.

Honestly, if Prince was dying of cancer, why was he trying to get off of pain killers? Why would it matter if death is coming anyway? The percocet would've provided him relief from pain in his final days. Everything we heard so far just doesn't add up to that story.

well, we got to put the pressure on. We were his fans, they sealed Elvis' autopsy too but we all know after all this time what killed him and what that sealed autopsy contained.

We are his fans, not his family. We are not entitled to all the intricacies associated with his death and with him being as private as he was I am sure he would not want that.

He died of an OD. People are going to think what they will but he deserves peace and respect in his death as does his family.

Yes, they can. You raised a valid observation about fentanyl. The speculation is that he was taking it for hip pain but based on the NIH website there is the possibility he may have been prescribed the drug for cancer pain. If so, that health information may be considered non-public information under MN law. If there is a family history of cancer, then it raises the possibility even higher. IMO he wasn't taking it for hip pain. It's just heartbreaking. He was in pain but gave his all up until the very end

I keep reading on other posts that the autopsy will be released tomorrow, but according to CNN the medical office said they will not be releasing the full autopsy or anymore toxicoligy info. So no full disclosure so we can move on. I'm still crying. If we found out there was some underlying reason for the medication it would be easier, but an accidental od, just such a watse of a beautiful life.

No, it doesn't change the love. But if he was taking it for a serious condition, it would have been easier to accept other than an accident. The world was robbed of him as an aging genius and he was robbed of his future and maybe being happy.

Speaking from experience, chronic pain is a serious condition. Just because society hasn't caught up to that fact yet doesn't make it any less true. And to be completely honest, this problem wouldn't have gone away for Prince. If he'd survived this episode, it was a battle he'd likely have had to fight his entire life, whether it's trying to find safe treatments, trying to keep your spirits up enough to not jump off a bridge when the pain flares up, hell, trying to find a comfortable position while standing onstage with a guitar, or at a piano (I noticed that his piano bench for this tour looked very padded and comfortable) or sitting on an airplane. The limitations a pain disorder can cause to the things you love to do are really heartbreaking, and going forward all we can do is try to find REAL solutions to chronic pain as opposed to shit that makes money for the pharmaceutical industry. (While also accepting that we can't just ban opioids without a replacement treatment for pain, otherwise you'll have pain patients flat-out killing themselves.)

.
And, of course, for those so inclined we can devote ourselves to the causes that Prince held near and dear, such as music education, narrowing the achievement gap, ending animal cruelty, and a whole host of other things. We have an opportunity to carry his torch forward; let's do that.

Thank you for making that point. We have to have effective alternatives or people will suffer unbearably.

Prince, in you I found a kindred spirit...Rest In Paradise.

Someone can always file a freedom of info act request BUT I really do think that as fans we should request Prince's privacy and not put any pressure on to release any more of the paper work publicly. He would have hated that and we knoew it.

He said he didn't like the word fan, it implied fanatics. He called us friends, and friends care. As far as family, he doesn't seem to have been that close with them His friends were his family and I'd like to think he considered us that way.

Was it suicide?

No, I don't believe that. After a suicide to be found in an elevator? Naah.
The pain killers he used were addictive, which simply means that he needed more and more to get the same results when he started taking them. No reason for speculation or wild guesses. There are tons of pain killers that are simply dangerous when taken too long or in too heavy dosage.
Prince must have suffered huge pains to use these kind of medication.

And then still keep performing in the meantime. No less than a lot of R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Was there no alternative to taking opioids? Like a surgery that would once and for all end his pains? 😢😢😢

Suregery can be very successful but there is no guarantee. He could have had the surgery back in 2010/11 and still been in pain.

also, him being a jehovah's witness, surgery may not have been an option for him.

I really, really have to question this! Because my cousin had hip replacement surgery and she did NOT need a blood transfusion!

Whoever was telling Prince that he couldn't have the surgery was just plain wrong!

That part shocked me too. I hope I never have to get anywhere near fentanyl. eek

Yeah little kids often get a hold of them after they've been discarded and in the mouth they go...

People who are really strung out on Opiods will also inject the gel from the patch which is like the most addicted thing you can do.

Opiods are dangerous as hell because they hook you so quick.

It's a very tragic situation and my heart goes out to his family, close friends, and all us fams.
Surprise, surprise.

It's Minnesota law. Anything beyond what they have released is considered non-public information. Maybe someone who is not a medical professional (due to HIPPA laws), such as friends or family, may have more information and come forward.

As fans, I don't think we have the right to know anything else, other than what we have now been told. MInnesota State Law is different from other states concerning this, and if the medical examiner and law enforcement are only releasing the basic information, than this will probably be all that we know. And besides, his family are the only ones who will be receiving a detailed report of what happened, and I don't believe they will release anything.

It won't be released because that is what the law calls for in Minnesota.

The only routine information released to the public is the manner and cause of death. All other medical examiner data is regarded as private or non-public under Minnesota Law.

If you look at the Examiner ceertificate which has been released it says this quite clearly at the top.

So, no conspiracy, not being secretive, nothing underhand because it is Prince - just following the laws of the state.

The closest I've come to feeling this desparately distaught was when I lost my daughter in a car accident 12 years ago this coming July. I know I never met him, am not a family member but feel with all that has gone on and the reading I've done since and watching him discuss his beliefs he has become a beloved family member. My husband wants me to talk to a Dr. so they can prescribe ani-depressants! Really after all this he would suggest pills!!!
