Are you at your job right now?, or are you here on your own time?

I am here on my own time. I am currently unemployed because I am recuperating from a serious knee injury. It has been really nice for me to be able to come here to the Prince.org while I am laid up. I have noticed a pattern though. The forums are far less active on the weekends, which makes me wonder if you all are living your lives on the weekends and participating on the org during the work week, and perhaps even while you are at work? Are my suspicions correct? No judgment here, just curiosity.

I am only here in my own time after work. Normally check in every few days to see what the latest topics are.

Sometime I wonder what will happen to this site in a few years time. Its inevitable the number of Prince fans will slowly get smaller over time after his passing....what do you think?

I just joined in May. But I do think that the number of Prince fans will increase as music is released from the vault. I joined as a reaction to Prince dying. I think that a lot of people did. So I guess that the number of people will go up steadily for a while, but after all the music is released the number of fans will level off, eventually decline and inevitably disappear. This is a very nice place for me to come to because my family and friends are all tired of having me talk to them about Prince.

yeahthat What MattyJam said. Same with Elvis , JB , MJ, David Bowie, The Beatles. People are still fans of those so why would it decline for Prince.

Exactly. And people still post regularly on MJ, Bowie and Beatles forums. Prince's life work is so large and prolific, people will be talking about him 100 years from now, I truly believe that.

I didn't say that the music would disappear, or the fans, probably just this website.

And I didn't say that it would happen anytime soon.

But who knows?

Technology is changing so rapidly it is hard to immagine what the future holds.

Are either of you guys at your place of employment right now?

I come on at various times both at home and work, but I prefer when I am at home as less distractions and more time. I also think the Org numbers will decline a little bit and that is to be expected as those that joined at the time of his leaving us all behind move on to the next things and already his Twitter account has lost 1000 followers (yes, I am weird and visit it still) but I truthfully think the Org will balance itself out to the regulars that have been here for years (myself included) and some of the new members that are genuinely falling in love with his music, there will be a levelling out over time.

Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜

Nope.

I spend far too much time on the org though... been a member here since the mid-90s. I dread to think how much time I've spent on prince.org.

I am a private tuitor (I teach French) and also work from home so it's very easy for me to regularly check in on here. Evenings are best though, when all chores are done and I can finally chill in bed whilst visiting the forum. I'm in bed right now, not sleeping though (well not yet lol).

Exactely. Plus, I think there is a lot more to this Prince forum than just Prince. I think it is also about the fans - the people - and their interactions with one another. The forum is a brilliant place to discuss anything, share ideas, learn off each other and ultimately grow and become better persons. And just like some aspects of our lives are reflected in this forum, the forum can in turn impact on our lives. So potentially the forum could gradually change the whole world... imagine that! Sorry, I've digressed. lol

I've wondered that too - about all social media. I wonder if it's the reason customer service has slowed down so much.

For me, I work at a job that has flexible hours for the most part so I hop on here a few times a day.

I joined in I think late April or early May and have found it a place of great comfort and friendship. In fact I was just talking to Prince and telling him how nice his fans are. Nicest people I've ever met on the Internet. I said "That says a lot about you."

I pray a lot and when i do I talk to the man. What can i say?

OMG, I'm so glad I'm not the only one! But it almost feels wrong... I feel like I gotta go through God first, which I do. But I do like to talk to him through prayer. Yeah, I may be a little crazy, but who cares. And these people on the org ARE fantastic! I've loved being on here!

I'm a teacher, so I'm not working in the summer and can check this website until my heart's content.

I think Prince's memory will remain for many generations. People still play the music of Mozart and Bach. Prince was such a musical genius that I think his music will endure for a really long time. The fact that he was such a prolific songwriter will only help his longevity.

Most of my time on here and in the chatroom is during my work hours. When i'm home I have errands to run on the weekends, a couple of furbabies to take care of and spoil, and when football and hockey season begins soon I will be working security at the home games.

eek lol well seeing as we've seen many a pics of "Snuffy" in his pants in the pic thread, and the lady that got fired by Prince because she ran him into stuff when he wanted to hide in that roller cart stated in the vid that he had a size 6 1/2 shoe size? I don't think shoe size is a good estimate of Snuffy! lol

I am at work, but I run the place, so I am okay. Frankly, I would love to own a pair of his little boots with the symbol pull chain. When the heirs start selling everything off, I am getting in line for the shoes ... Since he supposedly saved everything from costumes to stage sets, that is going to be one heck of an auction ...
