Lashing out? Because she's promoting the exact same bag she's been promoting for over a year? http://www.mawi.co.uk/dia...r-handbag/
As for BET, somebody needs to let them know paying respects to the deceased is not a damn competition. Trashing someone else's tribute to boost your own ratings and profits is shameful.
Quest said it best: "EVERYBODY wants and deserves a chance to say goodbye in their own way. But remember: there will be AMAs, SoulTrain, NAACP, mtv, GRAMMYS. "And a gazillion other tributes. But the point is let's not get ugly w playing the 'Prince would and wouldn't approve' game. & this isn't *just about* the Madge/Stevie tribute btw."
I like the way he mentioned 5 other upcoming tributes and didn't include BET.
Even if she has been carrying that ugly bag for a year why hold it in a picture related to prince? She knows about all the talk going around about Prince's demise, she's not blind or deaf. At its best it was insensitive and at it worst downright vicious. Also that bag doesn't send a great message to her young fans considering the connotations s with the word 'dealer'. She was sending a great big FU to his fans being the Queen of provocation as usual. As for quests words whilst I agree with the sentiment he must realise these people are also representing Prince's fans as right now we dont have a voice and they have a huge public platform. Madonna is not only letting prince down with her behaviour but also those who love him. Why didn't she put a stop to the graveyard pictures? She could have.
that handbag is actually a Hermes Birkin - in Crocodile - worth around $50k. Thank you Prince for every note you left behind 💜 |

Madonna needs to go sit down somewhere and stop trying to make it all about her whenever someone dies (like when MJ died and she gave some long boring speech at the MTV VMA's and kept making the speech about her. Not sure why she did that tribute either since MJ didn't even really like her).
She was the one who contacted Billboard organizers and insisted on doing this Prince tribute, so she put herself up for criticism. Would've been so much better (and made more sense) to see all of Prince's former bandmates and proteges do a tribute instead. |

wtf?! what an amazingly tacky, insensitive and possibly deranged thing to post. genuinely creepy hey, malicious too and apparently in line with the negative imagery displayed throughout the so-called 'tribute'. was madonna really friends with prince? sure doesn't seem like it from where i'm dealing with it.
fine ms. MadOnna. i *was* going to try to be nice but here's how i feel about your tribute (and i'm a fan of yours, mind you) : first off, thanks for trying. next, it was draggy and uninspired. listening/watching and trying to take an interest in that lackluster performance? was like following an exquisite gourmet meal (prince) with a dessert (you) of stale tiny marshmallows embedded in mushy green jello. next time i'll take prince's band over you any day. at least they are not boring. thanX! Bye!

With all the criticism of Madonna's tribute, which personally moved me and I loved, I feel there is one thing that isn't being addressed.
All these people who are so close to Prince and worked with him so closely, why didn't they call up the producers of the Billboard music awards and ask if they could do a tribute? It's not like the producers randomly chose Madonna. She approached them. If she hadn't done that, likely there would have been no tribute to Prince at this show. She didn't think it was right that a major awards show should happen without Prince being honored, but I guess no one else cared that much.
Or maybe the rest of them were too scared. They were afraid they'd be crucified by social media and Prince fans. Madonna put herself out there and made the effort and for that I applaud her.
I know people will say oh, she's just doing it to get attention. But she just finished a huge lengthy tour. It's not like she has a new album out to promote with this appearance. She could have just sat home and relaxed with her kids. but she actually gave a damn about Prince and his death. For that she is crucified. |

that's fair, you make really good points. and as a madonna fan i really do appreciate that she did all that even though i disagree with the somewhat dark imagery she used to send him off. but as a prince fan, wtf is up with that picture????? how could she make such a visual reference to the potential manner and fashion of his death, with a smile? because of that image, i actually doubt her alignment |

The Go-gos were there to promote their farewell tour with Best Coast, a very popular all girl current rock band opening. It's far from random and has zero to do with Madonna.
Madonna volunteered to do this tribute because she loved Prince. If the Time and Sheila care so much about Prince, why didn't they contact the Billboard Music Awards and ask to do a tribute? It's not like the producers chose Madonna above all over all other artists. She volunteered to do it. Everyone else was too scared they'd be ripped apart on social media to give a damn about Prince. |

As far as the dark imagery, I think she and everyone else was sad that Prince died. Some people said why didn't she do some of his more uptempo music and dance like we know she can do. But for me personally and I'm sure Madonna as well, it's still really close to his passing. I can't really get up and dance and celebrate yet.
As she said her tribute is not the only one. There will be more later. Later, we can do more fun, celebratory performances of his art and music. But for now, I just feel sadness.
I didn't see her smiling at all. She was crying during her performance. |

I'm also under the impression all associated acts plan to come together in August and put on a big thing for fans to come to. Least that's the tribute I am waiting for. Also they are grieving. It's only been a month. I don't even want to get out of bed these days... I'm sure the are still processing. Who would want to get up there and sob through the greatest hits? Awards shows are for the other celebrities and the wanna bes. In my opinion that are not based on reality at all. Surprise, surprise.
Another treat. Another trick. |

All ego and ambition. She may have played the same arenas as Prince, but was never in the same arena as him.
It's a pity that she feels the need to lash out in such a tacky way: it speaks really badly of HER -NOT of PRINCE.

that handbag is actually a Hermes Birkin - in Crocodile - worth around $50k. I'm supposed to worship it because of that? I wouldn't care if it was fashioned out of Elvis presleys toenail clippings and Michael jacksons foreskin. It was tacky of her to hold it in the context that she did. Baby, you're a star.

Are we sure she is standing in an elevator? Because it looks like she's standing in the corner of a room. What elevator has tapestry on the wall - plus it would be quite difficult to get a full body shot of a person if your both standing in an elevator. She's always been defiant to her critics and there ain't no shortage of them - I happen to be one of them. I just can't work myself up to feeling aggrieved about Madonna - 'meh' is the most I've got for her. |

I don't care about Madonna either way. I can listen to her but won't go out of my way to do so. My issue with this performance, beyond the poor vocals, the fact that it looked under rehearsed (Stevie didn't know what lines to sing!), or the fact that it was Sinead's arrangement of the song, is that, for me, Prince on stage was always fun and an example of musicianship. And none of that was evident in last Sunday's performance.. |

Bingo - Malice is the perfect word for her actions. She had to pick out an outfit, a setting, and all the props for this picture -- it wasn't simple matter of something done on an impulse that didn't turn out right She planned this maticulously and maliciously. What's the point? She's a superstar & mega rich -- why did she have to sink so low? Is she so aware of her irrelevance that she still have to get attention though shock pictures? She's been doing this since she was young - you think by now she'd get over herself - and have some confidence -- and show some humanity! |
