PrintableI was underwhelmed by her performance and knew that it would not be worthy of Prince. I didn't watch it last night, but watched this morning and then just now watched again, in an attempt to make sure that I was basing my judgment on her performance and not on how I felt about Madonna doing the tribute to begin with. She was really "off" in this performance, vocally and emotionally. I will say though, that watching it just now, and it suddenly hit me when the pictures of Prince appeared, "He's gone. He's really gone" and the tears started and the pain of it all hit me again. The fact that people are paying tribute to him, even piss poor tribues as Madonna's, really brings it all home that he's not here on earth with us. I've avoided all tributes until now, because I couldn't bring myself to watch them, they hurt too much. I guess I should have avoided this one too, because it hurts all over again. Damn it, he wasn't supposed to die, not like this, not at this time. He was still too young, too vital, so alive, to just have it end like this. It's not right. It's just not right. | |

I found Sandra St. Victor's tribute very touching. Also D'angelo's, Santana's & Erykah Badu's. I would of been alright with Madge if she'd been up in the mix with others (- Time, Rev, Family, Santana, Joni, Sade, George, Bootsy, Stevie, Maceo, Mavis etc etc) That whole mess was an insult tho. The "dealer" context is in regard to a reference made on Mother's Day that mothers have a lot to deal with. It's a play on words. There's not much point trying to read into things to embellish dislike for someone. If you don't know the context, find out before bashing. Her tribute was heartfelt and beautiful. I don't get the haters spouting off about this, although I recognize everyone's right to have an opinion. It seems like such a waste of energy to bash her for her tribute to Prince. | |

. And that's what bothered me originally with her doing the tribute, because she is just not on the same level as Prince. . Then, when it started, the first thing you see is the crosses and the cane. If she had done her homework, she would have realized that Prince had not worn a cross in a very long time and for a reason that he felt strongly about, and using a cane? Really?? Knowing the fans are still trying to come to terms with Prince's death, with the fact that our man was in a lot of pain and the cane may not have been just a stage prop afterall. That was the first "insult". Then the imagery of the cemetary and burning the Symbol. It was all just very poorly done and the symbology throughout the show was just a slap in the face. There was no tribute in this set, whatsoever. | |
