And ironically just after I wrote my comments..I just saw a really nice Prince Interview w Mel B.....And in it Prince talks about criticism and I guess how reviewers, people, writers criticize his music, etc.... And he was saying in general, that criticizing an artist and the work they produce, is like criticizing a gift from God...Guess most of us are guilty on that one here...

Well he was disrespected on here routinely but it wasn't most members, only a selet few over and over. They just happened to be the most persistent with their incessant pissing and moaning and whining. They're the same ones who were whining about his estate/property/money even before he was cremated.

It's like he worked himself to death and it still isn't enough.

They also think this tacky tribute is just peachy.

Prince and Amy Winehouse had a facial resemblance. You can see it in that GIF above.

I liked the tribute. Prince LIVED for white women with weak voices and I think he would have enjoyed the tribute. That's not shade...love Mo's voice!

Madonna totally should have recorded Telepathy back in the day.

Well, she tried. You have to give her that. But the truth is, she can't sing Prince's stuff and pull it off. Very few people can, though. I do wish she hadn't sung "Nothing Compares 2 U" in the style of Sinead O'Connor - running together "toyou" like she did. IMO O'Connor is persona non grata when it comes to that song, or to anything having to do with Prince.

The producers also probably shouldn't have cut to members of the audience who clearly didn't know the lyrics. Neither The Weeknd nor Rihanna knew the words, and it was unfair to them to be broadcast at that point, IMO.

So not really anything that impressed me but I appreciate them for trying.

Yeah, that all sounds very familiar. Peachy?! graveyards, the burning symbol & a troglodyte on the purple throne? Oh, just lovely, yeah, beautiful.

Well, I hoped it would be great.

Madonna has the money, power and influence... No Revolution reunion? No NPG? No 3rdEyeGirl, No Morris Day? No Time? No Shelby? No Judith Hill? No Andy Allo? - and those ideas are right off the top of my head.

Fuck me that was terrible.

Thankfully, Prince had the last laugh in proving that Madonna really can't sing.

I liked her outfit and the purple lights were nice. I didn't expect anything over the top in the tribute, so I'm OK with it. This now gives BET full reign to bring it on home. At one point I was wishing he would have appeared at the top of the stairs behind his symbol.

Horrible! Just horrible! Madoona and Stevie both sound terrible! This should have been a celebration of his music, his legacy. Instead, it sounded like they were performing at his funeral. Where was the funk? Where was the rhythm? Where was the blues? I cant wait to see what BET and Soul Train does. They will be able to pull the proper people together. Madonna was totally wrong for this tribute. She and Prince are two completely different kinds of singers. I liken it to asking Prince to perform a tribute to David Bowie. Musically, it wouldnt have made a lick of sense.

After that performance just remember Prince couldn't get a record contract as good as Madonna's.

Plus spot the central contradiction of this bitchfest: Prince is unmatchable in their eyes then they're angry the artist wasn't "worthy".

It was a little too soon for a tribute, I understand why they picked somber songs about loss instead of upbeat songs (which would then have been "butchered" by most fan's estimate).

I'm hoping for something more celebratory of this legacy at the Grammys, they should have a bnch of artists covering a medley of his songs with everyone from the Time to the Revolution being bandleadered by Sheila E. while Rosie and Jill handle backup around Lisa.

The fact remains that she isnt worthy of doing a tribute to Prince on this scale (no quotation marks around the word worthy). She stands for everything Prince did not. Here is a middle aged woman who recently appeared in public with her entire ass out - something Prince wouldnt do or endorse now (and something he did and transcended about 25 years ago). She isnt a real musician - Janelle Monet, Alicia Keys, and Spaulding are young women who are real musicians who didnt whore themselves out like strumpets to get fame - thus Prince approved of that BET tribute done for him about a half dozen years ago - when he wasnt on the charts and "folks" were not buying his records like they are now. She stands for everythng Prince didnt endorse - blatant and mindless sex and homosexual displays on TV, prostituting for profit and fame, and no regard to true musicianship and artistry.

TOTALLY agree.

I'll see you tonight..

That's because he didn't sell like Madonna. "True Blue" has sold more than "Purple Rain"!

if they said that, then this is just getting messy and has the wrong in motivation.
I'm still ticked they did absolutely nothing for Legend Lena Horn, just a quick display of her picture

So I'm not so cheery with BET either. And Pattie LaBelle & Trey Songz royally messed up Purple Rain too

She was never know as a good singer. I think it was adequate for what was expected. At least she showed some emotion, looked like she was about to cry throughout. That's a tough song for anyone who is getting chocked up.

I hope Stevie sticks to the piano for the BET show.

Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

I thought it was going to be bad, but in fact it was absolutely freaking atrocious. And I'm trying very hard to stop myself from swearing, out of respect for Stevie and for the teenager I once was who, many many years ago, quite liked Madonna.
