Prince knew he was dying

It would make sense being he was very ill the last week the hospital visit in moline the frequent trips to walgreens the appearance at paisley concert the comments made about save ur prayers a couple days then to b left alone at paisley park the day he died Prince always had security with him which leaves me to think he knew he was dying

The plans to write an autobiography, the save your prayers remark, the sometimes autobiographical and sentimental anecdotes during the shows, the lack of a band and focus on just him and his piano (his first instrument when he was a kid), and the let bygones be bygones attitude lately (meeting Susan Moonsie, Apollonia, Brenda, even Jill Jones again).

All this gave me a bit of a eerie feeling before he died, like he was entering a new phase.

But I don´t think he was expecting to die soon. Van Jones said Prince had a lot of plans for the future.

I think there was more going on than we knew. As usual.

He was seen in a wheelchair. He was walking with his cane. He was touring sitting behind the piaon, with little movement. Cycling, not walking. He was touring big time, living life the fullest.

He probably has been suffering from chronic pain in his hips.

It was his choice to keep his physical suffering from us. He kept it private. I don't think he expected to leave the earth so soon. But it was clear he was in pain.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

Ironic isn't it, knowing that being mysterious was Prince's way of life.

If we force it we can surely make it seem that way. He did not know a thing imo, he was pushing 60, a good time to start memoirs in general. I would put money on the line that he was much healthier than most people his age, he lived clean his entire life. Going solo for a tour means nothing, it's just simply something he has never done before, nothing to read into. He has used a cane on and off 'for show' since the mid 90's.

Prince did not know he was going to die, and surely did not want to die, he was robbed, we were robbed, the world was robbed of this beautiful miraculous man much too soon.

/// I agree I think he had no idea how sick he was or he did not take it seriously seems like he had a lot of projects in the works. Why spend 20k on a new gutiar.

Prince knew something. I believe he had another illness unrelated to his hip issues. His live performance over the past two years were very sporadic with lots of days or weeks in between shows. The Hit n Run tour started and stopped abruptly, the Piano and Microphone tour had long breaks between shows, he returned to Paisley after shows instead of moving onto other cities, and he was now living there. The memoir thing is a dead giveaway. It was set to be out next year. Does anyone who has followed Prince really believe he wanted to answer questions about his personal life for the next twenty or thirty years after it was published? I don't know if the rumors on less credible websites are true, but as a life long Prince follower I just believe in my heart there was something really wrong with Prince over the past couple of years. I'm really sad. I'm going to miss Prince so much. I had seen him perform every year since 1991 with the exception of this year. There was no one like this man live and I doubt there will ever be.

I wouldn't go that far, but he was more introspective and was writing that autiobiography and doing some other things. He was starting to look back, as well as forward. I was really looking forward to reading his memoirs, damn it. I'm sure would have been impossible to put that book down, but I guess we have the music, whichi is the most important thing.

But I agree that he didn't take his illness seriously enough...even after the hosptial visit last week. Or maybe something crazy just happened that could not have been avoided. I wish something could have been different though so he was still here. :-/

I don't know. I know I'm fluctuating in and out of the anger stage, and I don't want to box with shadows, but I feel I need something so I'm settling on this idea.

From where I sit, as a professional motion-based person. I have to tell you -years of dancing in heels and jumping off those risers takes a toll and I can believe whole heartedly that Princes knees and hips were gone way before he hit age 40. Having taught classes myself for 35+ years daily...theres pain, with every step. As you age you lose the cushioning in your joints - the glucosamine& chondroitin helps but its daily maintenance.

Once you have the hip replacement surgery it doesnt mean the pain is gone. Cycling is in effect a prescription for maintaining motion and it was probably a painless way for him to move around. Some of the tweets where he responded to me were in regards to the mitigation of the pain of performance. I've worked with many musicians extensively and know the physical toll it takes.

I dont think he knew he was dying - I think its possible the flu turned into walking pneumonia, which is extremely dangerous - combine that with pain meds, cold medicince and not having been cared for properly by a doctor eithe rbecause he didnt realize how sick he was or he was unable to admit he needed more medical care...but I think it was an unfortunate accident of a combination of meds and the seriousness of a wlaking pnuemonia that possibly overwhelmed his heart.

People like Prince are used to keeping going at all costs. He and Madonna are very similar that way.

I've learned myself this year after breaking a foot. 50-something is not the new 30-something. Ignore it at your peril. I understand why he would ignore it and I cant believe the OD story nor can I believe he knew he was dying.

I am having such a hard time processing his home-going. I cant say 'death' anymore...I refuse to believe him to be gone. sad

Yes, he knew. He did prepare those whom he has near. When he told me, I said I would fly out to Australia Shows....in a heart beat...he said no, put those money in gold instead girl, I need you to build me an empire when I return. Always full of humor ...the last thing he said to me was hello. Simply hello (and my name). I answered him hallo Prince, and asked how he was doing...to which he never replied, then I told him it was the real Nisan 14 now and he should celebrate. jewish calendar. 13th month. He did commemorate our Messiah....to the fullest.

I understand your stages of anger. I feel angry too, sometimes.

Especially about him not taking care of himself enough. Not resting enough.

On the other hand, a friend told me today that his life was about performing and that therefore, he naturally was performing till the end. It just was who he was and that I can't be angry about who he was.

Hey does anyone know what was up with the comment he told an audience at Paisley a few days ago about him "not being able to play the guitar anymore"?

I believe it was in the context of him wanting to concentrate on the piano - so he didn't want the distraction of playing the guitar, which must have been VERY difficult for him, especially having just been presented with a new toy!

He just meant that he can't play guitar right now because he needs to concentrate on piano for the P&M shows.

Any person or object whatsoever
That requires your attention
Is something that has veered
from its path
And preordained destiny
of total enlightenment

I never wanted a typical life
scripted role, huh...trophy wife
All I ever wanted, to b left alone
See my beds made up at night
Cuz in my dreams I roam
Just trying to find, trying to find
My way back, back home

So many reasons why
There's so many reasons why
I don't belong here
But now that I am I
Without fear I am
Gonna conquer with no fear
Until I find my way back home
Until I find my way back home
Find my way back home

Most people in this world are born dead
But I was born alive
I was born with this dream
With a dream outside my head
That I could find my way back home
My my way way back home

Is this the way?

Power to the ones, power to the ones
who could raise a child like me
The path was set
But if u look the truth will set us free
I've heard about those happy endings
But it's still a mystery
Lemme tell u about me
I'm happiest when I can see
My way back home
Can u see my way back home
Can u see my way back home

There is a big part of me that says I need to listen to this song since his passing, but I am afraid to.
