- And unfortunately, u arent the only one. I will get my refund in 10 days, because I bought the ticket in a store and live in Rio. But people that bought online or had to buy plane tickets and hotel will have some headache to be refunded, and probably wont be 100% refunded.

This why I call Prince's fanbase overly entitled and hyper sensitive! All artists have technical difficulties at shows. Furthermore almost every artist will at some point in their career will cancel a show. Hell some artist will actually cancel an entire tour for reasons that aren't any of the publics business! It happens in show business. Stop acting like Prince is some perfect little music machine you can trot out whenever you need a funk fix! He cancelled a show and that's it. If you lost money on the airfare then call th airline! If you lost money on a hotel then call the hotel! Want a refund on the ticket then usually you have to deal with the promoter who sold them in the first place. Prince is not and never will come to your house to personally explain the situaution and hand you your refund in cash! I had a show cancelled on me in NJ last winter and took the refund and went on with my life. Everyone is posting on here about outrage and being pissed off. It's a concert and I'm sure there will be others that you can blow a fortune flying around the planet to attend coming up real soon. in 3 months there'll be some orger on here posting about how he/she never got a refund from this event and it'll probably be because they were too busy being outraged and personally offended to follow up on the procedures to obtain the refunds in the first place! Righteous indignation is cool but it ain't gonna play 'hot Thing' for you in a cloud of purple smoke! GTFOI!!! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

I am sure that, if Prince performed here every year or two, it wouldnt be so bad as after 20 years (big expectations).
Anyway, that´s what i am doing. I will get my refund and live my life. If he comes to Brasil someday, fine. If not, I will keep on listening to his albums, like I am doing since 94.

Do you work for Prince? Are you sleeping with him? Are you Prince? If the answer to those three questions is no, why do you care whether people complain or not? If you go to an Apple-related website and see people complaining about something related to the iPhone, do you freak out and say that Apple customers need to GTFOI? Why is Prince any different?
People can't get money back from a hotel, airline, or any other third-party vendor just because Prince cancelled. You seem to have a lot more sympathy for Mr. Nelson, who travels around the world leaving chaos and disorder in his path, than the ordinary folks who have paid to see him. Prince wants to have his own business model where he plays by his own rules. That's his right. But why on earth do you care so much about his feelings? If it's all business with him, and he doesn't care about his fans, then he's no different from Exxon or Microsoft or any other business and there's no reason we should talk like he's a personal friend or something. He's a jerk who happens to have made a lot of good music over the years. Made possible by money from fans like me. Yeah, Prince isnt the only artist that cancels concerts. But cancelling only 5 days before an event in a country that doesnt see him perform in 20 years is something really frustrating (not to mention the costs).

Also, given that your profile says you live in Brooklyn I expect you weren't all that put out when Prince cancelled a concert in New Jersey. He played plenty of other shows in the NY area. So count yourself lucky. If Prince made his first concert in the U.S. in 20 years, but you had to book a flight to LA to see him, and he cancelled with five days notice (or less), and you couldn't get back your airfare, I expect you'd be pretty pissed just like the Brazilian fans are. Well, i am not mad because it got canceld ...i am sad cuse i wanted to see him ..its benn 20 years since Rock in Rio and sorry i dont have the money to fly and see him outside Brasil . but i am mad with the way he cancelad ...just an email with no explanations ..this isant respect. he just dong give a shit about his fans and you now it. a better explanation about why he cant perform would make it more sense to all of us in Brasil, but hey....he doesent care for a long time about much more than closing websites and charging people for geting into his websites clubs and never provides 100 % what he oferd in the firts place. acting like this an artist loses his fans and die. time goes on and he will be 60 years old soon .... acting like this he will be a shadow of what he was. i love his music since i was 13 years old, but it just get harder and harder to be a Prince fan .. i am tierd. houpe you understand my perpective and sorry about my bad english writing.

Why wont it be refunded?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Rather: why would it be? Hotels, airlines etc need valid reasons that are mentioned in their rules and regulations, terms of service, etc. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

you should have stopped at this is why I call Prince's fanbase, overly entitled and hyper sensitive, playing with people's money is like playing with their emotions. This is not a cheap thing and you dont get fully refunded on everything. you do get charged with fees.. I think it would anger anyone and who are you to tell someone they dont have the right to get mad. Hopefully everything will be refunded and you guys dont have to pay too many fees, sorry he cancelled the show for whatever reason. As for the person who made this comment ^ get real with yours and leave his fanbase alone. your way is not the only way. calm down there buddy

A fellow fan went today to the concert´s place to be refunded, and saw the Prince stage. According to him, it would be a shame if Prince performed there. That the stage wasnt up to his european stages standards, and the place wouldnt be able to handle 15000 people well, as announced (although I doubt Prince sells 15000 here for that price and basically no promotion).

that makes sense, yeah... thats understandable lol. how bad are we talking like, this looks a hot mess or, hnmm.. I dont like it bad!

I just want to make it clear that we brasilians, are capable of doing great concerts. We received U2, Rolling Stones, Elton John, Paul Mc Cartney and they were all a huge success. And Rock in Rio will have RHCP, Metallica, Stevie Wonder and Jamiroquai. Not to mention Eric Clapton and Pearl Jam that are coming soon (sold out).
This Back2Black stage, if the story is true, is more the exception than the rule.

Now that sounds 'personal' to me. Obviously you have some issues with Prince that you need to work out.
As for the whole Apple comparison, the last time I checked Prince was a person not a device with a warranty. He fucks up just like normal people do. His fanbase seems to document his every fuck-up on the Org. That being said anyone who would book a trip around a Prince concert without buying trip insurance is an idiot especially in light of all the unspeakable acts of chaos and disorder Prince has wrought upon the planet! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Personally I have mixed feelings about the cancelled gig - but we all don't know why and what was going on and prince may have had his reasons. But its for sure a fact, that concerts sometimes have to be cancelled and that there then will be a lot of people left disappointed and with money they spent and will never get back. When U2 rescheduled 16 concerts during the 360 tour there must have been really a lot, lot, lot, lot more people who lost money. So maybe we should just wait to know whats the story behind and then judge him.
I still hope for the south americans that he will soon be there for u all. Greets nV [Edited 8/27/11 1:29am]

If you assume some type of normal social interaction between the artist and the public that he attracts to his shows one would wish for some more elaborate excuses then what we see from mr Prince. Your defensive wtiting makes it look like you work for mr Prince and think it is normal to cancel a show or even pause a show without a proper explanation. People invest in seeing a show. They arrange their schedule. They obtain tickets. They arrange transportation. Maybe even a hotel. That costs. So an explanation would be very nice indeed. Pills and thrills and daffodils will kill... If you don't believe me or don't get it, I don't have time to try to convince you, sorry.

Prince to my knowledge does not own an airline, hotel, car rental service or approve people vacation schedules. He is on the hook for a ticket refund. Everything else is at the risk of the buyer and then they should protect themselves with trip insurance. since everyone on the org documents every canncelled concert this should not be a 'surprise expense' to add on to any trip you plan revolving around Prince.
P.S. - You're in Brazil people. I'm sure there's something else to do(hookers, drugs, hooker with drugs) than sit around moaning about Prince! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

And Prince still owes me ticket refunds from years ago .
Just because Prince can get away with that kind of selfish behaviour does not make it morally right. This kind of handling his business (or better lack of) is one of the reasons why I stopped travelling to numerous of his shows (as well as buying his records BTW as I don't want to support that kind of behaviour). And I was very hesitant to even attend one show this year and only did as it was pretty close to where I live and as I did not have to pay for a hotel as I could stay with a friend or for the journey as some friends took me with them. Otherwise these days I don't go to see Prince anymore, because it is very likely that he will cancel his shows last minute anyway. Not worth all the trouble. With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

- Very stupid comment. | |

- But in the case of U2, Bono had a health problem, right? And the concerts were rescheduled. In Prince´s case, we didnt have an official reason and no sign that he will reschedule.

See that's what I'm talking about. You got burned once and changed your way of dealing with Prince rather than sit around waiting for him to change to suit you. People call Prince out all the time but then repeat the same thing that put them in the undesirable predicament again. So when do adults start to accept responsibility for trusting someone they claim to know is untrustworthy. I respect your stance on this because you made adult decisions to insure you never have to deal with a situation like this again. Since none of us can change Prince you have to change yourself. It reflects HonestMan13 and how to read his comments. It's only his opinion, not reflecting how most orgers feel.
My bet is that most orgers feel bad for the South American fans. Especially if they lost money, we know that it's a lot of money, and the dissapointment after being excited for a concert after 20 years.
99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

How shortsighted can a reply be? Did I say he was liable, on teh hook or whatever? I steered towards the social convention thing. You avoind that are as if it were th plague.
How stupid can this comment be? You must be living in the USA according to your profile, one of the prime examples of countries without hookers, drugs, hookers with drugs or worse. Yeah right In what type of reality do you live? One controlled by the mainstream media? Your country is going down the drain and you don't even see it happen.
