Dr. Funkenberry: Prince and the NPG run into trouble in Germany

www.drfunkenberry.com

I would hate to be around Prince or any of his NPG band right now in Germany, especially if I am the sound man!

I am hearing from a source that Prince and the band are having some post-production difficulties that they are trying to get fixed before the next gig. It seems there were some sound problems at the show tonight and it caused a delay. After the first song, the band knew something was different. They didn't and don't want to cancel a show because of janky sound quality but sometimes, things are out of their control.

The audience knows what the sound is supposed to sound like at a Prince show and so does the band. You know Prince and the band want to give the BEST possible experience when you come to their shows, so I can bet everyone is unhappy. I am told things went perfect in sound check but by the time they hit the stage, things were drastically changed.

A source at the venue over heard that they better get to the bottom of this and fix it for the people coming to see them. They said that it will take a minute BUT it is being made sure that the audience gets the best sound and performance by Prince and The NPG.

It appears the band was highly upset about the sound after the show, some even taking to Twitter to vent. You can bet they truly feel bad for the fans who had to put up with the audio problems but I can guarantee you Prince and crew will get it fixed! You can believe that!!!-Dr.FB

Probably, Andy Allo also posted the link to this article on her FB page...

Yeah, I love Graffiti Bridge movie, so what? ''Oooooooooooh Montreal, say it!''
If you can't be nice to someone on the net, you probably ain't worth much talking to in real life either.

Fair or not, he will be blamed. He knows that - obviously.

After listening to the last P&B podcast and hearing about the sound problems at the first show of the Jazz Festival, could this be the same issue/people?

I am wondering why is Dr. Frankenberry calling it, "post-production difficulties"?

Live sound isn't post production. Post production comes after a recorded or filmed event, not during.

"He's a musician's musician..."

Yeah...I think they're using it to mean that it was something that happened after Prince had his say in the set-up/soundcheck. Bad usage, though.

While I'm sure the sounds was horrible I have to say the last time I saw Prince in Raleigh this past March or April it was my least favorite show of the times I've seen him. Short show to start with--does the final song 10 minutes after the houselights have gone up. I agree with some others that he's just going through the motions and hasn't challenged himself recently. Granted, I'll never see Lovesexy again but coming out the the cheesy keyboard sample wasn't a good sign. Here's to hoping he'll get back on track.

Well, at least they're looking into the situation and hope all works out well for them for the remainder of the tour.

I'm glad you guys pointed out that live music is not post production...come on Dr F get your references in order! wink

Also, this makes the home page but the FB postings if songs didn't? Interesting moderating on this site at times. confuse

...going through the motions in different countries?

Live was my last thread of hope for all things Princey since his recordings went tits up in the late 90s. I had fears at one of the Planet Earthgigs in 2007 which wasm

, hands down, the worst and most dissapointing Prince gig I have ever been to...but the final night made me think that the previous bad show was jsut a blip but I was struck by how many medleys and safe hits he played insteasd of Parince fan favs etc....4 years later its much the same

I don`t care about sound problem. I am a fan. When I pay that much to SEE prince I want to SEE him LONG ENOUGH for my money.

Prince is a true musician, he could have played with a simple guitar and sung with a candle on stage - LONG ENOUGH - it would have been a night to remember - not to be bitter about. sad

lol

I like it when a thread like this occurs someone has to put out that tired old "there's worser things happening in the world". Yeah I know, the world was created for BAD THINGS to happen, DUH. lol Like I need a reminder...

But Dr. Funkenberry's accounts are so rudimentary and elementary. How can one have post-production problems? Can someone explain to me that? What the hell does that even mean?

Well if he has it planned to play long in Ireland and incur curfew fees, he probably wouldn't want to do it two shows in a row... I mean, I have no idea what his plans are, but he has said more than once he was going to play at least 3 hrs in tomorrow (and incur the fees involved). It'd start to get expensive...

Change it one more time..
