Hhhhmmm, The Truth can be found in the "Holy Bible" not in a Bible that has changed Jesus's words so to make like you all speak the Truth.

you are only parroting what you've been told. the Bible JW's use is one of the better translations out there. There are no impossible transaltions. Yes there's a few scriptures where they choose a less likely (but still possible) reading but there is not one instance where they just make stuff up....same can be said of the NIV and the rest

And which translation of the Bible contains "The Truth?" And whose interpretation of any scripture is "The Truth?" Different spiritual leaders choose different translations of the ancient scriptures and have different interpretations of those scriptures. As diverse human beings, people will always have different interpretations of what is considered "The Truth." No one person can, in reality, state that his/her version is the only valid interpretation. Only the higher being worshipped can decide that. Anyone claiming otherwise is making judgments they have no right to make, full of false self-righteousness and fallacious arguments. No one person can claim to have the definitive last word on the Word. neutral

I agree. It's when you take scriptures and reword them entirely or add to them to make some new law allowing children to die or be molested with no consequence that it slides into the 'false' teachings of man. And how do we know just how much of the Bible has been translated according to 'man's' foolishness???

Not much can be changed about loving thy neighbor as thyself...but making up ridiculous rules that aren't even in the Bible is what makes my blood boil. mad

I agree. There are certain passages that are unambiguous and cannot be miscontrued such as "love thy neighbor as thyself." Those are the scriptures that should bring so-called Christians together, to at least agree to disagree and have some accord, but unfortunately even these passages don't suffice for some. Fortunately, for others, they do. biggrin rose yes

No need for name-calling.

Right now I am kind of busy writing a 2000 word paper on gender identity and it's due my midnight. But when I'm finished I will be happy to oblidge. I will start off by telling you that of the six translators of the NWT, only one had 21 semester hours of classical Greek and some Latin. He partially completed a two-hour survey course in Biblical Greek in his junior year and was self-taught in Spanish, biblical Hebrew and Aramaic. None of the others had any training at all. shrug

No need for obnoxious, condescending emoticons...and don't make smug comments if you don't have time to back them up. I'm aware of the history of the NWT and who did the translating. I was speaking in the context of strictly Christian scriptures and the way they are translated and interpreted in many ways by people within that religious group. But what you say is true--there are spiritual truths--universal--found in religious scriptures around the world, in different ages and different cultural contexts. These are the "truths" that should bring people of like mind and spirit together, not divide us like sheep waiting to be herded by wolves. These "truths" that most people on earth agree on are what should unite and not divide us--whatever religious or non-religious beliefs that one pursues... Just my twocents wink

I would say the translation matters a lot to people who have allowed their children to die because of a non-existant blood law.

ummm. I didn't say translation didn't matter. Where did you get that? I said it doesn't matter who the translators were. Very likely they just borrowed from other scholars anyway. I doubt they did any actual translating. My point is that every translation has passages that are controversial. Also, it's their interpretation not the translation that is the problem with their unsupportable blood policies....anyway go finish your paper

wow. Ludwig. You just got it all figured out, don't ya? Hey, I'll tell you what. Prove to me God doesn't exist and I'll stop believing. Since you say "it's all bullcrap" you must have some pretty strong evidence....oh unless you're "dumb" like you accuse religious people as being.

Those people who believe in god have to prove that "he" or "it" exists. And there is no proof at all. You want to believe, but believing means "not knowing". No one on this earth knows "the truth".

Maybe you can't discern the proof....are you looking? Where are you looking? Many many people believe there's enough "proof" (Intelligent Design, the hisoricity of Jesus' resurrection) etc... But let's not forget you first claimed YOU know the "truth" by calling it all "bullcrap". I'd be willing to wager that you don't know as much as you think you do. You only "believe" you do. I used to share your opinion and if you had told me then I'd be a believer I would've scoffed....don't be surprised should your views change too one day. I think you'd be quite surprised to discover the strong arguments for God's existance. It all comes down to probability mixed with a little faith (but not a leap)

I would truly loveto share the truth to him, but i'd be so afraid that with his mom being a Jehovah's Witness and being gone several years that my testimony would only hurt him in regards to the teaching that if you don't accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and believe EVERY word written in the King James Version that you cannot be saved by causing him to fear that she's not in the place he wants to believe she's in. We have to be very careful when witnessing to others that it not become a "stumbling block" unto them. I hope this makes sense.

That makes alot of sense!! I see what you mean exactly and I never thought of it that way. How unsettling that can be...

I remember when my sister died, I wondered if she knew Jesus and had accepted him. I can't say for certain, since she never said anything about it, and her actions surely didn't show she excepted Jesus or GOD's word. But I can't let that stop me from believing, or compromising GOD's word. I will forever love my sister and hope she was saved, but maybe she wasn't. That will be up to her to answer to GOD for that and all believers know what happens if you don't accept Jesus. Because NO ONE gets to the father but through the son. So that is why I think it is so important to do missionary work and spread GOD's word!

Good point about Prince though. I'm guessing GOD would reveal a loving way for you to communicate with him. And we must all have faith that GOD will reveal himself to Prince and his truth. And there is only 1 truth...

Prince is GORGEOUS. I'm inspired. GOD is GREAT. Is there anything else to say? lol

I guess "1914" wasn't made up? lol

JW beliefs:
1. That Jesus is a created being/a creature.
2. That Jesus is actually Michael the Archangel
3. That Jesus was not resurrected bodily, but as a spirit being.
4. That Jesus returned invisibly in 1914 (secretly to the Organization)
5. That Jesus was only a man when on earth, not the Word Become flesh.
6. That the Holy Spirit is only an active force, not the person of God.

I have never spoken to a JW, but would be most interested in hearing where they found certain beliefs. As I'm always open to hearing from others following the Christian faith...I wondered about the 144,000 and went to The Bible to find out if/where this was sited and what would drive them to believe what they believed about it. I found the number itself in Revelation and read over what it said. So that was most helpful, of course, to understand anything, one must communicate with the source. So I have yet to discuss this with any JW, but would find discussing JW beliefs with Prince quite interesting...
