And I have no idea what you're rambling on about, you sound like an fool, so please do us both a favor and stop if you aren't going to made comprehensible sentences! There is lots of proof of GOD and Jesus existing, but that isn't something I've ever needed. I walk by faith, not by sight, always have, always will thank you very much.

Well it depends on what you would follow as proof...scientific stuff? The universe itself and its perfect design, that alone speaks volumes. Everything works the way it does for a reason, that plan came from somewhere. The moral code of the world, that has been dated back to the bible days. Even the start of the universe itself. Artifacts, scribes, etc. Greatest written proof.... The BIBLE!! Best physical evidence you will find. I've even heard stories of them thinking they found the arc. I don't follow those too much, as it's all science, and I pay little attention to it despite being in the med field, I don't need science to believe...Prophecy has revealed itself to be true.

Just to singlehandedly note specifics would be useless if you don't believe in the bible...one of the GREATEST places to go and remains the best trip my church has ever taken...The Holy Land Tour we did back in 07, you can literally see all the things described in The Bible, the places, etc. If one isn't a believer before going to Jerusaleum, if they go with an open heart/mind, they will leave a believer.

Just about every social group has its mythos. A certain portion of each society invests itself dangerously and deeply within the imaginary and defends it with every drop of blood. Jehovah's Witnesses are no different...And when the myth threatens life rather than saves it...it becomes dysfunctional fundamentalism and cultic. Asking families to let their children die rather than take blood is a good example of that.

No matter what religion a person or group professes, when the compassion for others is replaced with rigid rules and cold-hearted behavior the beliefs become more of a mental aberration than TRUE or FALSE worship. Religion is like strong medicine. You have to take the right dosage or you are in deep doody

Yet who's to say what is the right dosage? I believe that once your beliefs cross over into the intentional harming of other humans or anticipating their eternal destruction, you have already overdosed. dead

wrong everybody has a conscience..that's the point. you're born with it

we are born with free will, but not necessarily a conscience.

some people are born with a significantly smaller, and sometimes totally absent, section of the brain which deals with empathy and their ability to be consciously aware of the difference between right and wrong.

When you use this logic, which I studied recently in Psychology, you then are saying these people, born w/o a conscience, are incapable of doing good, etc. Since you can't grow a conscience...What's interesting, is if this were true, then why isn't this diagnosed earlier in life. Psychology refuses to diagnose children as sociopaths, yet if their science is correct, the child is doomed for life, why not stop them before they are allowed to hurt someone? Conscience vs No conscience is still all a study....

Free will involved choosing right from wrong... Everyone has the right to know GOD and can do good through him...not just those born with a certain brain part! GOD can do ANYTHING, even those things people can't even imagine can be done...

This is hardly worth noting since people choose life/death for many reasons. It's ok to some folks to kill an unborn child through abortion, since it's the woman's body and she should be ok with it. It's ok to take someone off of a ventilator, so they won't suffer. It's ok to take a person's life through the death penalty, since they took another. All is ok...except when it comes to religion and someone believing that GOD is telling them to do or not to do something. It's not up to us to judge someone based on the decisions they make for their family, etc. WE aren't them, so we shouldn't proceed to tell them they are so wrong for what they did when we accept what others do that is just as wrong, if not more..

Modern medicine isn't always 100% accurate, nor will you save every person. Why? Because it's not up to us anyway, GOD gives life and he takes it. When he wants someone to live, they will live, even when the doctors don't know what to do. Those are called miracles! When their purpose on earth is over, they will die, despite the best efforts of doctors. A woman will get pregnant when GOD is ready for that baby to be born, if he isn't ready, she won't despite all the efforts of the doctors. It's not up to us, we are only tools in GOD's plan.

Children or anyone dying because of some misinterpreted Biblical law is not worth noting??? eek

I don't believe in abortion either so it is worth noting to me. And the Bible condones an eye for an eye so the death penalty does not apply here. According to this logic then why should we care about anything if we are all just tools? sad

And its misinterpreted because YOU say it is? A bit arrogant to say an entire faith is misinterpreting just because YOU don't believe in it.

The Bible says "thou shall not kill..." Whether we like it or not, the death penalty is murder, perhaps justified, but still murder, it's taking a life...

I mean doctors are tools, doing a job to save lives, but sometimes no matter what they do, it doesn't work. And that's because they are used by GOD to save a life....not that they don't get any recognition, it's just that GOD is the one to thank for giving that doctor the knowledge and ability to save that life. And always care, because it's an honor to be used by GOD to benefit someone, else especially to save a life!!

And BTW, I'm not a JW, so don't follow the blood transfusion refusal, but respect their right to make that decision. That takes ALOT of faith!!

So contradictory...doesn't allowing your child to die come under this rule? The whole thing is just ridiculous. disbelief To me, life is the most precious thing. Any 'human' laws that take it away are wrong. Simple. That to me is arrogant!!! Presuming to KNOW that God wants us to allow the death of innocents because WE think it's right?? I guess we can say that any religion that decides to kill in the name of God should just be respected and left alone? No matter who they hurt or kill? Right!!! thumbs up!

Why do you consider the bible to be the best evidence around? The bible has gone through multiple translations, edits, and revisions over the past 3000 years. If anything, I would say that the bible - in its original form - was an edict that was commissioned by a king to be written (a king commissioned it as in the writers of the old testament were paid to do so). And the new testament was written via dictation, and then went through the numerous translations, edits, and revisions. Roman Catholic bibles are different than Hebrew bibles, etc. Soooo, which version of the bible do YOU believe to be true and what do you say about the evidence of its inception?

Absolute bullshit. I have a friend who was i a nun for few years. Today she's the most incredible sex-partner i ever had.

I still believe Prince's mystical crisis is jaust a phase.

& you think this nun submited her life to Jesus? Please don't let such a woman decieve you like that, for she's estranged from God's will. Just as some people who spat on Jesus as He was nailed on the cross were the same ones a week before worshiping Him, there will be hypocrites of today following FALSE relationships with God. Don't think she won't be judged for her hypocrisy.

Why would she (a great sex-partner) decieve me ? No offense but i'm not like you. I don't care about jesus & all that religious bullshit. Religion is just an invention to dominate weak people. And it's sad to see people fall into the trap

I can empathise with that. I travelled the Appalachians and they were exactly how Bill Bryson had described them in his book. Fucking uncanny that.

Alton Towers was the same. Exactly how the brochure had displayed it. How the hell do these people do it I ask myself.

Good point made earlir by Spin.

So if I want to start getting into religion which book would you religious types here suggest? Which is the definitive version of the Bible? I don't want to start studying the wrong one only to find out later that I'd been duped.

So come on you all of you with religious beliefs, which one is the right one? There are so many I'm thoroughly confused.

mutated genes make people like that.

people breed without thinking about what the combination of their DNA will produce in their child.

the human genome has been messed with so much BY MAN, and we breed without thinking for a second about what our combined DNA will produce in a child.

I truly believe that every single one of us will one day understand all there is to know, and every single one of us will see things that we've misinterpreted or misunderstood or perhaps simply not wanted to see.

To judge another for their beliefs (whether overtly, by calling each other freaks and fools, or more subtly where an assumption of superior knowledge is implied) only satisfies the ego and never offers any meaningful way forward.

I love that there are different religions, spiritual and philosophical beliefs and personal insights and in fact, I personally don't believe that we will get where we are going without them.

I don't believe that a woman is necessarily any closer to God as a nun than as a delightful sex fiend.

I don't believe that a dedicated bible-reading Christian is any closer to the Truth than a pagan who makes a deep and meaningful connection to the Goddess.

I don't believe that a respected philosopher is necessarily any further along on their journey than a person born with a brain that is deemed by certain experts to have no discernible conscience.

I don't believe that I necessarily have any more answers or insights than those who do believe any of the above (or any other combination).

But I can tell you that loving everyone, regardless of their beliefs and attitudes, and treating everyone with respect, is a delightful space to hold and I highly recommend it - not because it will necessarily get you anywhere faster, but it makes the journey infinitely more pleasant heart

sweety. you did the same freaky things all overly religious people do, NOT show proof of ANY sort. the world runs cause scientifically it's supposed to do that. until you can PROVE with something someone can touch that YOUR God exists, sit down and shut up. Cause I can use every physical proof you have to show MY Gods exist.

1. what if death is what 'god' intended but the doctors prevented it?

2. god was reinterpreted as singular but is in fact plural. gods came down taught the world "civilization" and "technology" .. god was not a spirit. spirituality exists but does not manifest in a physical person or singular entity.

3. when the bible says dont kill .. put down ur hamburger u hypocrits.

4. concience and the knowledge of the universe exists within us from birth .. people choose or are often programmed to listen to gluttony and ignore the true word of our spiritual peace .. which is within us .. often called the word of god .. it is spoken from within .. certainly not from some child molesting money grabber preacher hypocrite foul human, or from that bs bible that has been rewritten to serve those in power. this is the true word of god/the spiritual universe. there are those whom can speak from that knowledge, whom have quieted the noise of the world to hear the truth .. and when spoken the truth rings thru every soul .. the gluttonous soul runs scared, gets angry, tries to yell over the voice of truth, using every dirty tactic (including the bible) to scare others into ignoring the voice of truth. the innocent (those who have not conciously chosen to ignore the truth) recognize the sound of truth spoken .. this is the word of "god", the voice of the universal truth. the bible is a tool of oppression .. not the word of god .. tho in parts it may reflect the original teachings of the original gods that visited us so long ago .. it is truly only used now to oppress thought and access to the true word of god .. your concience (which u are in fact born with)

I always enjoy watching these debates spin. It is a great reminder to me that life still has many mysteries, in our short lives, that will always remain unanswered for certain. I do wish we had some certain truth that supports a unified philosophy of existance, but those unanswered questions still hide it from us. No matter which side of the table we sit on, there will always be people who believe there is something or someone greater at work in this 'dream of life' we wander through for our short years; or there will be those who believe the material is all that there can possibly be. Religion is a vast subject, there are so many beliefs out there. Each in his own heart convicted that they are on the right and true path, even if it contains no religion at all. But in the end, we are all subject to that all inspiring unknown which places a faith, a hope, a subtle joy and sadness for answers yet to be revealed, or never revealed.

We are in this together. I have always found it so bitter that sharing one's belief can cause so much hostility. In the end, we are ultimately responsible for ourselves. I hope for more than this life, else it all seems a lot for nothing, and so little that results in collapse. But that's just me.

you wrote...

"some people have a conscience and others need a guidebook. some learn via cause and effect and others dont care at all."

wrong everybody has a conscience..that's the point. you're born with it

we are born with free will, but not necessarily a conscience.

some people are born with a significantly smaller, and sometimes totally absent, section of the brain which deals with empathy and their ability to be consciously aware of the difference between right and wrong.

what you are describing are merely theories. We have much to learn about the human brain. All the evidence points to everyone being gifted with conscience...every culture everywhere and for all recorded history displayed this uniquely human trait. But I do want to say I appreciate how civil and thoughtful you are...our dialogue is peaceful that's cool

Right!!! thumbs up!

Well, that's not quite what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that when someone refuses medical treatment, they aren't willfully killing anyone, they are simply saying they are leaving it up to GOD. And they have that right. Anyone killing in the name of GOD or religion is wrong, but you can't for certain say these 2 things are the same.

One of the biggest things lately is stem cell research. OK, yes it can be used to save millions of lives. However, alot of people think it is playing GOD (i.e. Satanic). Most people don't understand what goes on with stem cell research...So if your child/spouse needed a transplant or something and could be only helped via stem-cell research, what would you do? Side with the devil and save your child/spouse or follow GOD through faith and refuse the treatment? Very tough decision, not to be taken lightly. And don't assume that people that choose the latter option are murderers, don't love their child/spouse, or whatever else negative is said. Another good example is when a pregnant woman needs to abort her baby for health reasons but she doesn't believe in abortion...or a husband who has to choose between saving his wife's life or his baby's life. Decisions aren't always easy...

Modern medicine is both a blessing and a curse, depending on how you look at it and what you are referring to. When it comes to what GOD wants, NO one can say 100% sure if they know that, but they can testify what's in their hearts and make decisions based on that. There are many situations in life that one must choose between 2 evils....

Well the Bible has a verse in Rev. instructing people to not attempt to change GOD's word, or they will be dealt with. I firmly believe that...I know that GOD wouldn't let his word be tainted. And just because something is translated, doesn't mean it is wrong. The meaning is still there...

I have the KJV of the Bible, but I use my NIV because the wording is easier to understand. I've had bible in a few different languages, and when translated, the meanings are still the same.

The Bible is the best evidence, it's GOD's word. When one really thinks about GOD, it's logical to believe he exists...I mean where did we come from? I find it mindboggling that people easily accept that once we dies, that's it, then to actually think there may be life after we leave this one.

GOD's existance is all around us! I can't believe anyone could ever witness the birth of a baby or climb to the top of a mountain and overlook nature and NOT believe in GOD. Those things simply amaze you and take your breath away. And really get you to thinking....

Your thought process is the reason why this world is the way it is now. You wrote the most blasphemous, "we don't need GOD, " everyone do whatever you want to do crap!! Post like this just irk me because you are trying to upset people by putting a nun in the same category as a disgusting sex fiend! And for Catholics, that is a BIG insult! All this "I don't believe a nun is closer to GOD than a sex fanatic." Maybe she is, maybe she isn't. Not up to you to judge what's in her heart, but if she DOES have GOD in her heart, and the sex fanatic doesn't, then she is closer to GOD as she has accepted him, and the other has not. You are right, one day we will all the see the truth, those for some that truth will be like a bolt of lightning and for others it will be like a bed of roses, as we already know the truth. GOD has put it out there for us...whether we listen or not is our own faults.

sweety. you did the same freaky things all overly religious people do, NOT show proof of ANY sort. the world runs cause scientifically it's supposed to do that. until you can PROVE with something someone can touch that YOUR God exists, sit down and shut up. Cause I can use every physical proof you have to show MY Gods exist.

The Bible is a book, the scrolls are written by other obsessed christians. Bibical times?! F that crap! It's time in general gees.

All you obsessed Christains need help, and your "God" can't do it.

Wow you sound so much more intelligent by stating "the word runs cause scientifically it's supposed to do that." You say the same brainless crap that other nonbelievers/devil worshippers/people-that-like-to-run-their-mouth-and-don't-have-a-clue-what-they-are-talking-about-say. So I think YOU should practice what you preach and sit down and shut up. Christians don't need to prove anything to you or anyone else...The idea of GOD has been around alot longer than the idea of no god, so it's up to those atheists to prove their isn't one. And yet to date, no proof has surfaced..

And what exactly is an "obsessed Christian?" You can use the proof all you want and ATTEMPT to prove your idol is real, but it won't work. Lots of people have tried to prove this, prove that...but fail everytime. The one and only true GOD in Heaven won't allow it!! But it's cool, Jesus died for your sins too, one day hopefully you're realize that and repent before it too late...
